Episode 10 Update - 11/22/20 (Patreon)
Content
Hello all. I feel like I'm apologizing way too much in these, but I'm legitimately sorry for missing what were supposed to be weekly updates. The first half of November was incredibly tumultuous for me. On top of having a few events in my private life I had to attend to, I've had a really hard time getting back to my usual daily routine. Nonetheless, I've finally returned to that routine and luckily the episode progress didn't take all that much of a hit. So here's where we're at so far:
All lipsync is now done. As soon as all preliminary animation is finished, I'll be putting all the lipsync on all the characters. Similarly, all storyboarding is now complete. The "F" storyboards that I now have aren't 1:1 with the finished product, but I now have enough to work with to establish a perfectly clear vision for what I need to do with "F".
"A" has been in the hands of one of my main animators. It has been since the beginning of the month. He has just messaged me with the news that he's almost done with his latest segment. For this month, he's been working on the last of the major animation work for "A". Right now, he's working on a segment with a large amount of characters. After I correct whatever he turns in to me, all that's left of "A" will be detail and correction work. Seeing what's arguably the most complex sequence come this far is quite exciting. I feel like I've been working on "A" for so, so long, and I don't know how I could've done this without hiring out.
For the first half of the month, I've been working on "C". "C" is, for the most part, all roughed out, and it's currently in the hands of the newest animator on the team. I'm going to continue progress on "C" based on whatever he gives me. I am really hoping that he does a good job, because, if so, I'd like to give him the rest of "C" so I can focus on "F".
"F" is the monster. It's by far the longest sequence and is my current focus. I'm still in the process of blocking and roughing things out, and I'm trying my best to adapt the best parts of the storyboard with my ideas and getting the timing right. My goal right now is to completely rough out all of "F" by the end of the month. Right now, I'm wrist deep in the most action-oriented part. If I can successfully rough out "F", I can utilize my animator who is almost finished with "A" to pick up my slack.
Additionally, one of my musicians reached out and is ready to start working on the episode's score. I'm going to be giving him a (hopefully nearly complete) "A" at the start of December, and tapping my other musician as well.
Right now, efficiency is everything. I need to at least get enough roughed out to pass on to others. I don't want anyone that can be working right now to now have any. Everything is in a good position except for "F", so that's my entire focus right now. I need to commit to regular weekly updates from this point on and maintain my routine.
