Game of Thrones Season 5 Episode 7 & 8 – “The Gift” & “Hardhome” (GOT 5x7 & 5x8) REACTION!

OMG!! These two episodes had EVERYTHING. Season 5 just took a HUGE step up!

The whole situation with Cersei, Margaery, and the High Sparrow is getting completely out of control. Watching Cersei's own plan come back around on her was CRAZY. We have absolutely no idea how any of them are getting out of this mess!

And DAENERYS & TYRION FINALLY MEET!! We've been waiting for some of these storylines to start connecting, and seeing these two together has us SO excited. Please become besties and take over the world 😂

But let's be real... HARDHOME!!!

WHAT DID WE JUST WATCH?! That entire ending was incredible. We've known the White Walkers were coming, but this was the first time we really understood just how TERRIFYING this army is. And watching the Night King raise all of the dead while staring directly at Jon was COLD!!

Also, finding out Valyrian steel can kill White Walkers feels VERY important. Jon Snow was an absolute LEGEND in this episode!

Season 5 is getting CRAZY and we only have TWO EPISODES LEFT!

PS: Poor Tommen! He's just a little one! 😂❤️

Can’t wait to watch this for the hardhome reaction that last 20m is wild

TheOctobers

YOU AIN'T LYINNNN! That was so crazy and unexpected lol

Billy Shields

The reason for Bran not being in this season is because the books end after this season and thats where the shows runner's story picks up and bran story got finished (what was in the books so far) in season 4 so they just omitted him from this one. He comes back in season 6. They never address it.

Billy Shields

I know yall keep asking and I don't really consider this a spoiler

Peter K

I can't wait to see your reaction to the end of episode 10, most jaw dropping moment in the series. You two are lucky, in that you will only need a few days to get some answers to that twist. Those of us that watched it back in the day had to wait a YEAR to find out WTF was going on. BTW, Bran is not in season 5 at all, the actor asked for time off for college, but no worries he's back big time in S6 going forward. And once you finish the show, you will want to see it again, where you will recognize all kinds of clues that you missed in the first run through.

Sir_Dalagad

This really is a good series to rewatch or to put on and let run in the background. You can focus in for your favorite parts and just let it play for the rest. And there's so much going on in it that who knows you may just catch something new. BTW we know you're walking around the grocery store or driving down the road humming the theme song. It's ok, we all catch ourselves doing that lol

Some of the best episodes aren't season finales. Maybe to keep the audience on their toes. I was stoked for you to check out Hardhome.

I think the reason they made it seem so sketch when they sent Mace away was bc of the plan to lock up Loras. They were basically just getting him out of the picture. I don’t think it had anything to do with anything that’s gonna happen to Mace himself

Sir_Dalagad

"if you were to bring me a Lannister at least bring me a whole one" LOL y'all ain't right

Pete Befi

Haven’t watched the reaction yet, but the silence at the end of hardhome is chilling. Perfect way to encapsulate the eerie, despondent, we’re fucked feeling that they were portraying.

For a bit of context that has been mentioned throughout the seasons, John's sword is made of Valyrian steel. Old Valyria was a land of dragons and magic and the ancestral home of the Targaryens. Since the destruction of Valyria nobody has been able to create Valyrian steel but a few blades remain scattered throughout Westeros (usually owned by the powerful houses like the Starks, Lannisters, etc).

Chaz D

Lol I love how he looked at her when she said if you’re gonna bring me a Lannister at least bring me a whole one lol that was so mean of her to say. It was funny and I think that’s how she intended it to be but still a risky comment to make lol he looked at her like he couldn’t believe she said that and tried to instantly change topics lol

Peter K

The big reveal was that Valyrian steel can kill White Walkers, and the guy on the dock, they call him the Night King. Got to say, can't wait for the last two of five, seriously crazy stuff is coming...

Chaz D

I don’t think you missed anything, that was just the moment we all found out that valerian steel worked on the white walkers

Jon’s sword Long Claw is Valryrian steel as explained in a post above. We also saw in season 4 episode 1, Tywin bought forgers from Volantis to melt down Ned Stark’s huge sword Ice. Tywin said there were only 3 people left in the world who could forge the valryrian steel. He made the sword into two smaller swords. One he gave to Jamie. Jamie gave it to Brienne. The other went to Joffrey. The dagger in season 1 that was used to try to kill Bran was also Valyrian steel. That’s why Catelyn knew it came from someone wealthy.

Little finger gave each Cersei and Olenna a gift. A handsome young man. This is Littlefinger playing the game of thrones. In one earlier episode, we saw Olyvar talking with Littlefinger. Cersei’s gift was Olyver to get Margery arrested. Olennas gift was Lancel Lannister to get Cersei arrested. Cersei gave power to the sparrows as a way of getting out of her marriage to Loras but still keeping Tyrell supplies coming into the city. Littlefinger told Cersei about Sansa being at Winterfell knowing Cersei wouldn’t be around for long. He took the sparrows (a tool that Cersei empowered the sparrows to reach her own ends) and he used them against her. He cleared the field by having Loras, Margery, Cersei in prison. Mance Tyrell is out of the picture. Jamie is far away in Dorne. This leaves only Tommen a young boy as Littlefinger described him to stand in his way. Remember Littlefinger expects either Stannis or Bolton to win the war that is starting soon at winterfell. He told that to Sansa. Littlefinger has his own game in motion since he is now in control of the Vale. He is playing the middle using Cersei and Olenna as tools to his own ends.

Season six and these last two episodes of season 5 are some of the best ever seen on TV. If you liked this one then know this was the warm up to those. The roller coaster only starts going faster and faster as we speed to the end of the show after this season.

Arya and the beliefs and customs of the many faced god is meant to be mysterious right now. You haven’t missed anything they are just telling the story in a way to make you really think. Arya has a list of people as you know. Do you remember who is on her list? How does becoming faithful to the many faced god work is a mystery. The actor who plays Jaq’n Hagar watched one of the other reaction channels shows. He made a post for them on how much he enjoyed their reaction on their channel. It was so cool. You never know who is watching. 😉

So, just a bit of info on the differences in the army of the dead.....The Night King (as someone commented) is the leader and he's the one who reanimated the dead, to me he looks like he's wearing an ice crown......the White Walkers are the long haired ones on horses and they're basically the generals of the army.....then you have the Wights and they are the dead brought back to life. You were totally right about the army getting bigger from the dead. That's why they insist on burning the dead in the North. Up until this point, Sam is the only one to kill a White Walker and they know dragonglass workd but now, as others have said, Jon used Longclaw and it worked as well. I've always thought Jon had it rough being classified as the Stark bastard but in Hardhome he really became a leader to me. One of my favorites! These are some of the best episodes of television and I can't wait for the next 2!! It's gonna be amazing and very shocking to say the least! I swear I don't know how you don't keep going....that's gotta be tough! Thanks for the reaction, awesome as always!

Peter K

Minor correction, the reanimated dead are Wights, not Whites. Like the baby we saw converted, White Walkers become that way without dying first.

TheOctobers

dang man i was talking about jamie too lol that came off badly

mgamer327 .

ooo can't wait to watch this after work! you look a-ok with a buzzcut cuz your face is cute!

Jim Schmitz

In case it matters (and even if it doesn't), I love the fresh look, Tony.

Jessica Houser

Shit....I knew that. My phone autocorrected the spelling and I missed it! Thanks for pointing out to me! I edited it to fix it. ( I was going to give a few details....but I was worried about spoilers LOL)

Nielidun

Only just watched the intro and you guys have me rolling already 🤣

mgamer327 .

yeah and the actor who plays Jaqen H'ghar was in "Stranger Things", he's as cool as shit man, love him

Annie Bonz

"Curse on her titties" sent mountain dew spraying all over my desk LOL

TyrannosaurusBex

Mrs:"Maybe he'll survive that because he's a dragon" Mr: [taking a moment to fully process] Mr: 😲🤯 I love this real life reaction @15:43!! You can clearly see the moment when Mr. October goes from hearing to listening Mrs. October's idea and it's such a wonderfully authentic aww moment!! ☺️

Nymeria Stark

Love the use of silence too at the end...so dramatic after the chaos

Gnarlybudz

I thought Little Fingers gift to Olenna WAS Olyver to do with whatever she wanted. Seeing how he testified against sir loras. I figured Olyver is finished off screen

Lina Marshall

If you guys are ever confused about something or an episode I recommend watching “inside the episode” Jon 🗡️ sword Longclaw is made of Valyrian steel, a rare and magical metal that is said to be exceptionally strong and sharp. Valyrian steel is also known to have magical properties that make it effective against the White Walkers, who are vulnerable to certain materials such as dragonglass and Valyrian steel. Not everyone can have or get Valyrian steel it’s very rare to have .

ShittyShittyGameGang

I definitely heard Mr. October say something that made me laugh that could connect to some stuff that happens later. Anyone else hear that? Lol.

Sir_Dalagad

You're probably right. Didn't catch that but it's interesting.

Nomad

This is one of the best episode on tv , last 20 mins you are just glued to the TV and don't move an inch.

Hitmon

Haha 💀💀

Chaz D

This is such a random thought but I wonder how sweat there arm gets by the end of the 2 episodes lol are you guys stuck together by time the 2 hours is done?

Julien

They call him Night King? Who is "they"? Nobody has called him that in the show at this point. We literally just met him. Y'all need to quit doing this.
