Omg been waiting for this one! This is the first movie that put Christopher Nolan on my radar..

Harvey

Finalllyyyyyyy, knew you guys would enjoy this one it’s definitely complicated on first watch it also gets so much better on rewatch Inception kinda sticks with a similar theming to this and is also on your top 250 list, but that’s another that needs a lot of focus. Please not another 3 weeks to watch that one 😂

Harvey

Also the “wigs” you talked about, they’re not for fashion and not supposed to be hidden. It’s what Barristers (highest form of lawyer) wear in court.

J-rad

One of my favorite Nolan films. Cant wait to watch later but I’m at CIFF right now about to watch a movie called The Fetch.

Josh Viz

Imwas surprised to hear you apologize for using subtitles! Yall should definitely whatever you need to understand a movie. Plus I love subtitles

J-rad

Helpful hint: always use captions for Nolan’s films. He’s notorious for pumping the music levels higher than they need to be.

Men wore powdered wigs in the past because of syphilis (an STD). It caused sores and hair loss so powered wigs were worn to cover it up. They ended up becoming a fashion statement. The fancier the wig, the richer and more influential you were. Basically everyone had horrible STD's and decided to show off lol.

And you thought this was a mind-bender. Just wait...

The thing that sometimes puts a lot of people off from this movie is the complexity, but this is not a movie. This is a magic trick on film. As they describe it in the beginning and the end, there's a pledge, a turn and a prestige. The entire movie It's based off of that premise, and is presented to us in that way. Once you understand that, that's when you really get the power of this movie

I like this film, I wish that the ending wasn't explained through sci-fi/supernatural means though. It just seemed kind of out of place/lazy to me. The whole film slowly revealed the reality of the tricks being performed so I was hoping for something like that to reveal the ultimate trick/ending. Still a very enjoyable film, just my two cents.

Jim Schmitz

"Yah, but magic ain't got titties". My favorite take-away from this reaction.
