I believe there's an alternate ending to this movie. If you watch that one I think some more of your questions will be answered. Most people I talk to prefer that ending as well

Is it possible that the sample "zombie" he took, that was a girl was a significant other to the male "zombie" and that's why they started attacking him? I think they set the trap because remember they let out their dogs too it seemed really planned idk I could be wrong but that's kind of my thinking at the moment because the trap style was the same he used to capture the lady zombie. They were definitely smarter than he realized

I've always loved this movie! I always found it interesting that these "zombies" seem to be highly intelligent. I suppose its plausible for them to evolve over time....just like everything else. I heard that a sequel is in the works with Will Smith and Michael B. Jordan, but they've said that before. Hopefully that's true, with new technology there's a lot they could do with it. To me, the “zombies” seemed to be more vampire than zombie, which could explain the intelligence and the need to avoid daylight.

Yeah, I'm really not sure what they're technically classified as? I suppose zombie may not be accurate because I'm not sure they ever died, they're just infected? I know they're called Darkseekers and cannibalistic mutants with superhuman strength, nocturnal habits, and a severe sensitivity to sunlight, so I could see a vampiric classification. Definitely makes sense.

It's funny you should say this is a unique/fresh take. This is based on a novel of the same name from the 50s and has been adapted into film four times. My favorite film adaptation (and arguably the closest one to the book) is The Last Man on Earth (1964) with Vincent Price, but its a much slower somber movie. This version is more action driven and a *very* loose interpretation of the source material. I love horror, but I hope for Brooke's sake y'all can watch some more fun movies soon lol

Came to the comments to make sure someone mentioned the alternate ending. They did, and y'all should definitely watch it. Someone else mentioned that the main infected that he blew up at the end was actually in a relationship with the female he cured in his lab. That's true. There are clues leading to that. Like when he made the trap to capture her, the boyfriend/significant other/main infected exposed himself to the sunlight chasing after her. So they indeed were intelligent, and yes, the main infected guy was the one who set the trap for Will. Literally copied the trap Will set to trap his lady. Another good Will Smith movie is After Earth. Will's son is in it.

I saw this in the theater after having read the novella and was sooo disappointed. The screen writers completely left out the entire meaning of the title and the amazing ending that Richard Matheson originally wrote. I have come to enjoy the film though for what it is... a fun horror movie with some good action scenes.

The original novel had the monsters as intelligent vampires, but this film adaptation made them more zombie-like in style for some reason.

I don't think I ever knew it was a novel. That's interesting. I think I've seen so many shows/movies with zombie-like creatures in it lately....I just group them all together. It makes sense that they're vampires though.

At the end of the novel, he learns that they are all terrified of him because he kills their families during the day while they’re sleeping. He has become a monster, a horrific legend to them. “Robert Neville looked out over the new people of the earth. He knew he did not belong to them; he knew that, like the vampires, he was anathema and black terror to be destroyed. And, abruptly, the concept came, amusing to him even in his pain. A coughing chuckle filled his throat. He turned and leaned against the wall while he swallowed the pills. Full circle, he thought while the final lethargy crept into his limbs. Full circle. A new terror born in death, a new superstition entering the unassailable fortress of forever. I am legend.”

Why in the world was she set a trap for him?? The infected guy was pissed because he took that girl and then he set the same exact trap for Will Smith. The same exact one remember? Then they waited with their dogs ready to attack him!! It was pretty obvious that the infected set the trap to get him back

Men in Black is such a classic, I have seen it like 5 times just on TV (I don't own TV anymore, my monitor has such features, but I never use it, not even Netflix... which I still pay for just in case xD).

Pls support your kid when it comes to Minecraft, that's the entry level for engineering (well paid) path. Btw. even if you are not math / engineering oriented, try playing it as a couple, explore together, build together, it's amazing bonding experience.

I can't say for certain that this is true but didn't they have some deleted scenes that explained better that they were afraid of him and for whatever reason they didn't add it in.

Some games on VR make me immediately nauseous and give me a headache instantly, I can't remember what ones for sure but then games like Trover Saves The Universe (not for kids, wouldn't recommend it for your kid) and SkyrimVR are awesome and didn't make me feel sick at all. I heard Gorilla tag is great, it looks fun. I also tried a couple horror games like Inpatient and Resident Evil 7(?) and my gosh that's scary 😨.

If y'all want to dive a bit deeper into the AI world I have a few to suggest. Alita: Battle Angel, Ex Machina(greatly loved and suggested), and The Creator(Denzel Washington's son is in it). I think all 3 would be loved on the channel, and hopefully loved by you two as well.

Poor Mrs. O! I would have stopped you watching this one if I could have. My husband pre-approves movies for me on doesthedogdie dot com and warns me if I might not want to watch. If it’s something I really want to see he’ll tell me not to get attached to the dog/cat/horse/bird etc. At least if I know ahead of time we can even fast forward through the scene. Yes, I’m one of THOSE people. I can watch walkers eat 1000 screaming people but Rick’s horse in season one broke my heart. Clearly I’m bananas 😁

Very obvious, but they also watched the wrong ending. The other ending shows how evolved the monsters have become. It likely would have clicked for them that the monsters set the trap if they had seen the other ending.
