Oh, I see you are bringing out the classics! Quint is one of my favorite movie characters of all time. What an absolute beast

Damian

OMFG YES! MY Nanny watched this in the theater back in the day. First and last time she ever went to the movie theater. She would never ever go swimming in the ocean afterwards. She fell for the Hollywood nonsense like most. Me on other hand will swim next to big sharks. RIP NANNY MISS YOU!

Cameron Kolhoff

😁Oh this is a great surprise! I've only watched this film once for my film as literature class in highschool. It's a great classic to learn from!

I was at Ft desoto like a week ago lol bunch of hidden places around tampa tbh and yeah Im with mr october, big fan of Deep blue sea great movie.

THIS was a classic. My opinion is don't bother with the sequels because they were just cheap, lame money grabs. You will be disappointed with all the lame sequels. May i also suggest you watch the original Planet of the Apes (1968). A fantastic old movie and a cultural icon.

The mayor isn’t gonna have a town to make money for if he doesn’t consider safety first.

Smile you son of a bitch - still one of the best one liners after 50 years.

Thanks for making me feel old, I saw it in a theater when I was a teen. This is the film that gave Spielberg cred and launched a helluva impressive film career. This was a shoot that was plagued with problems. The mechanical shark they built was a mess, so he had to scrap a lot of scenes he had planned with it, but found that the hidden menace was just as scary, maybe more. I wonder who will scream louder, my bet is Tony, given how he reacted to jump scares watching Alien.

We're gonna need a bigger boat....

Damian

Haha.

I feel like the streak that you guys saw after the singing scene was E.T.'s ship... you're one of the rare people who caught this rare easter egg by Spielberg lol

Peter K

Do not watch anymore Jaws movies, this is the first and best of all shark movies, the rest will let you down in comparison. I'm all for you guys doing classic movies, iconic ones that stand the test of time. Actually, you reacted to Wicker Man from 1973, which is the oldest you have done. I'd like to see you dive even further back, there are lots of great movies from the 1930s forward. You noticed the character driven aspect of this, well, most movies were character driven until special effects crowded a lot of that out. There are a lot of old movies that are must sees, many are on the top 250 list of yours. Keep on exploring, there are many more gems you will love...

Quint’s Indianapolis story is one of the most iconic monologues ever committed to film. His character is unofficially based on a shark fisherman from Long Island, at least as far as the novel goes that the movie was adapted from. It was written by Peter Benchley who was a novelist (and also cameos as a reporter in the movie) whose books were exclusively sea-based, many of them featuring some sort of sea-creature as the main foil or antagonist. He would actually later regret the film’s popularity because it resulted in the public’s irrational fear of sharks and them being unnecessarily hunted to the point of some species becoming endangered. And the novel was much more melodramatic, almost to the point of a soap opera. The book took place in the fictional town of Amity on Long Island (where I was born, raised, and currently live, lol), but was changed to a fictional island off of Massachusetts for the film (ironically because they thought it would effect the seasonal economy of southeast Long Island, particularly the Hamptons). There was even a subplot in the novel where Brody’s wife has an affair with Hooper, and the reason the mayor was so reluctant to close the beaches was because he had already taken loans from the Italian mob to sustain the town’s appeal as a resort destination…🙄😂. As far as any of the sequels go, Roy Scheider pretty much had to be handcuffed and dragged to the set of Jaws 2 while they poured buckets of money on him, and the circumstances of the two subsequent sequels were progressively worse, so…tread at your own risk…👀🤫🤣😉

revenge is my favorite lol

Billy Shields

Well since yall wanna do older classic movies I'll suggest again Dead Poets Society. It was made 1989 and is on yalls 250 list. It has Robin Williams and Ethan Hawke, Maya Hakes father (Robin from stranger things), in it. One of my favorite movies. Enjoyed the reaction.

The meteors were actually caught on film accidentally. ET was made long after Jaws.

'That's some bad hat, Harry.' I've heard that God knows how many times at the end of TV shows, but I hadn't seen this movie for so long that I never realized it was from 'Jaws'. Incidentally, the back of the house from 'The Amityville Horror' is supposedly in this movie a couple of times. I saw it, but I don't know if it is actually that house or not. The USS Indianapolis story absolutely is true. Quint's telling of it is one of the great 'audience goes silent' moments in cinematic history. The fact that Robert Shaw was drunk as a fiddler actually helped his delivery, I think.
