I didn't notice the noise issue but I got shit hearing.

Jack's World

As a live viewer & someone in the online space with TWD community, I started watching the show with its premiere on Halloween 2010 & I was almost 14 years old. I grew up alongside Carl and watching a character around my age (Chandler was a few years younger when it started, but Carl died just around when he turned 18) in the first main long form show I stuck with in my life, and even though Carl as a character only canonically aged ~1.5-2 years in the show through those 8 seasons according to the show’s official wiki, it was like y’all said watching a little brother slowly die before our eyes and it HURT something fierce. In the comics only about a month passed between losing Lori & Carl losing his eye at Alexandria which is WILD 🤣. In the show it was at least a bit longer because of the time jump between S3-4 but still not much time 😂. It really is hard to grasp the timeframes when watching week to week because we had - S4 showing us 401-408 only ~ 4 DAYS & then 408-416 ~ 1 Week which is CRAZY! Thats due to the shifting POVs taking place at the same time. - And then with S5, we have Terminus & 501-509 losing Bob & Beth only taking place over about 4 DAYS! Then we jump ~ 3 weeks to when we lose Ty & within about 1.5-2 weeks we’ve met Aaron & made it to Alexandria! - S6 had 601-609 The whole herd storyline take place over only 1.5-2 DAYS! We jump a month to heal Carls eye & meet Jesus, then within 2-3 days we’ve attacked the outpost & then ~ 2.5 weeks later they’re on their knees meeting Negan! So from the day we arrived at Alexandria to meeting Negan in the clearing is ONLY 2 MONTHS 😂! - Then we have S7 in its entirety taking place over ~3 Weeks. - S8 jumped 1.5-2 weeks after losing Sasha and then 801-809 has taken place over only about a day & a half MAYBE 2 days which again is INSANE 😂 ~~~~~~~~~~ Carl's death and exit from the show is down to Scott M. Gimple (showrunner) being absolutely heartless & greedy. He is replaced by Angela Kang after this season. Chandler Riggs, who plays Carl, was told by Gimple that he would be in for at least 3 more seasons. Then as Chandler's 18th birthday approached, with becoming an adult, he would start a new contract that didn't go through his parents as a proxy as it had for the entirety of the series because of him being a minor. When his 18th birthday came up, Gimple decided to not renew his contract, as one of the things in the new contract would understandably be a pay raise. He sidelined Chandler, and out of nowhere told him he was going to be killed off. And when Candlers Dad tried to expose it on Facebook they quickly got silenced by the network…the biggest SCREW YOU a network could do. Chandler had bought a damn house in Atlanta (where the show was filming) AND contrary to what many people think, he was going to university there in order to be able to KEEP filming for the show & Gimple absolutely BLINDSIDED him & his family. Many of the main actors were NOT happy with how this was handled either. This was the episode that finally made me cry. The show will certainly change now & there is so much drama behind this horrible decision but god damn did Chandler who plays Carl act his fucking ass off here! The fact Carl makes it to the end of the comics with Sophia is what makes this hurt even more, his arcs after this war were incredible & the fact they didn’t play them out sucks ass.

Rip Gavin. My favorite savior. Such an interesting side character.

Ryan Cook

Carl does NOT die in the novels. That's why it was super shocking and controversial.

Ryan Cook

That was some theater 😆

Garland Ward

i wish i had not read this - As somebody who did not read the GNs i was ACTIVLY AVOIDING Knowing all these differences to not ruin my love for the show - Its always the ones on the inside !! geeeeez :( good info - wish i hadnt read it

Chandler Riggs (Carl) sings along with doing movies 2014 Mercy , 2017 Keep Watching, 2019 A Million Little Things , 2019 inherit the viper , 2019 Only , Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes & Huntsmen oh yeah get low in 2009 he’s done a lot . I cried when Carl died a real shocker since he did not die in the comics !

Jack's World

The actor had a small recurring role on a show called “A Million Little Things” but after this whole debacle, he has pretty much stayed doing smaller, indie film type things, and streaming games on twitch and meeting up with fans of the show at conventions. I don’t blame him. I would be incredibly jaded too after dealing with everything he dealt with and being blindsided when he was planned to be the legacy of this entire series.

Ryan Cook

I know i leave a lot of comments, sorry about that. Carl's actor took a lot of heat on his acting ability. From what I remember, he took mad acting classes and really improved a lot over the course of the show. There was a theory they killed him off because he wasn't a great actor, and he hasn't been in much since. He certainly isn't the best actor, but it must be weird to grow up on the top watched show at its time and take in all that criticism. I think he def did his best, and in a way it's refreshing that he's not a super honed actor. On repeats, Carl def stands out, but at the time of airing he was constantly berated and made fun of. I haven't looked it up, but I think he might have gone the music route? Im sure someone else can fill that in.

Lindzi ODowd

I think they killed Carl off because he was turning 18 snd didn't wanna pay him adult money. I may be wrong but I'm like 95 percent sure that is what I heard.

Lee Shafer

I always wonder , did people forget that negan was about to bash in carls head just as shiva came through .

Mama Browsss

Yeah, Carl’s death hit hard. And they really did Chandler dirty! Buying A house and moving with his family and then they kill him off. Total bullshit! I remember I thought Carl was the future. I thought the series would end with a time skip into the future. In the new world when walkers are nothing but a memory for those who lived through it. And Carl would be a grown man, a leader, telling his children the story of Rick, and Shane and all those he lost back in the day when they fought against the dead and other enemies, and won! So yeah, this episode crushed me. Killed my dreams!

COOORAAAL

Serenity

Justice for Carl, during the mid-season break after 8x8 I absolutely hated waiting to have to see 8x9. I never expected him to die. I love Carl but I have issues with how the show tried to portray his "death wish" in a way

Jeff

College! He wanted to go to college so they wrote him off. If I remember correctly, he didn't want his whole life to revolve around acting after growing up on TWD. Could be wrong, but he did go to college lol

o.o

RIP

kolverso

I hate scott gimple for this

Serenity

He was planning on doing both. There were rumors about pay and I'm not sure about that, but he did take a gap year after being fired because he actually wanted to focus on acting. I don't think he would've ever wanted to leave the show

kolverso

It was so sad that many ppl stop watching after this

Terri Hernandez

I cried more with Carl's death than any other. Glenn and Abraham's death was bad... but Carl's tore me up. Thank y'all for your reactions!! Best reactors EVER!! I'm in Georgia too, only about 5 miles away from where they filmed the loft apartment that Morgan lived in, about 20 minutes away from where they filmed for Alexandria, etc. It was so exciting while they were filming! 😀

RIP CARL!!!💐💐 💐 💐 💐 💐 🫡😭 As I said before and will say again. They did this to satisfy the plot armour controversy comparison to GoT!!! But ... yall the actor was definitely shooketh!! 😰 he thought he was gunna be the future of this show. He acted graciously and mature about it in real life. Decided to stick to just college and forego acting for the time being. Keep up the epic work 🤩 🤩

Jack's World

Unfortunately that’s not really the case at all because he decided to go to college in Georgia and buy a house in Georgia so that he could continue to do both of those things at the same time being the show and college. They just didn’t want to pay him as an adult actor and if they hadn’t created Daryl for tv and kept Carol around after the prison where she offed herself in the comics, they might’ve had more money to dole out to characters that we’re supposed to be there

Jeff

Perfect, it's been a while since I read the articles lmao thank you for clarifying.

Yoav Cohen

Carl did not die in the comics. and personally for me this moment marked the start of the downfall of this show :<

ariel mermaid

Carl was in the comics them killing him wasn’t also the actor wanted to got to college I wish they just would have had him off screen until he wanted to come back but this is the episode I stopped watching and came back in half of season 9 also we been fighting negan since half of season 6 and we’re on half of season 8 it’s was getting boring i need a new villain and don’t worry this show is like game of thrones no one is safe sadly 😢

Elena

What i have heard it that he wanted to be payed more as they were still paying him child wages, now that he was becoming more an adult, he wanted to be paid like it, and they didn't wanna do that. (no sure if this is true tho)

Elena

I really like how open minded you guys are on some things ! i'm curious to see what ya'll think in later seasons !

Elena

On the whole conversation Carl had with his dad, i think was more like, "start letting people in again", i don't think Carl meant "trust everyone you see"

EnVy316LeGeNd

Daryl has always been my favorite, then Glen second, then probably Michonne

Chris

The actor who played Carl went on to win a Grammy for his hit single "Carl Poppa".

KingHarrison

ive watched you guys for years and i do have to say... you guys are becoming really desensitized to the misery of things, you guys used to cry at alot of emotional moments but now... the most brutal things with the nicest people dont even make you guys cry, sometimes i wonder if thats healthy hahaha and miss october only seems to cry now if its an animal, no tears for certain deaths but a few for the tiger looool the tears for carl just reminded me of this, much love x

VeNinjaK

To be honest, I never cared for Carl. I never thought his acting was good. I never really cared for him. He seemed like a background character to me. Typically I really don't like kids in most shows, as the acting just takes me out of it, and ruins the immersion. The older Chandler got the less he cared and effort he put into acting, it wasn't what he wanted to do. He hasn't acted since. AMC did him dirty, but also why pay adult prices for a guy who doesn't perform at an adult level? I don't know, it seemed like for the best, but the death could have been better.

KingHarrison

Did anyone else notice the logo on the apple sauce can lid 👀👀👀👀👀

Oh thank goodness! Reactors always seem to go along with the Carl had so much wisdom and everyone should do what he wanted… puleeze. I actually liked Carl, both the actor and the character - but no - a cop and a bunch of hardened adult apocalypse survivors should not do what the dumb kid who got himself killed says they should do. I hate this theme that comes up in so often these days - kids have to show their parents the way - no they don’t. Carl’s brain wasn’t even fully formed which was why he kept doing dumb sh**. I HATED the writing in this whole stupid season. Characters just did stupid stuff that made no sense like Carl doing a 180 (offscreen apparently) from budding badass psycho to whiny you have to forgive everyone and not kill anyone punk. Carl was a great character! I’m sad Scott Gimple ruined his ending! Idiot!
