I've seen a lot of woman with this exact take. As a man this is my perspective> I don't think he had bad motives. I think him wrestling with the idea of her and Conrad (his brother) loving each other and keeping this secret was messing with his head. and insecurity and anger that festered. everyday thinking "will she tell me today? will she tell me it meant nothing?" every day this weighing on his mind. I know it would mess me up inside. I think it got to the point where he couldn't handle it and he broke up with her thinking that he actually couldn't do it anymore. He couldn't keep pretending. so in his mind he was done. Similar to how belly lies to herself through the entire season. In cobo he hooks up with that other girl thinking he's done and belly will obviously move on with his brother. But after being with her he realized Belly was the one he wanted and wanted to work past this Conrad insecurity. I don't think he was actively looking for an excuse to hook up with someone else. I think he was legitimately done with her in that moment and hooked up with the other girl in an attempt to move on. Its unfortunate but I don't think he was purposely manipulative.
