All of the EJ and Ricky scenes in episode 5 literally made me sob, It's probably some of my favorite scenes of this entire show because as you said season 1 EJ and Ricky could never.

also idk if you caught this but in episode two of this season like Ricky gave Gina a note telling him to meet her in the secret staircase but until this episode we didn't know that it was 'secret' because that were they originally met and nobody knew that. also ricky bringing the exact same box of chocolate was supposed to be tim way of confirming that it was ricky in season two.

This damn show lol. I'm not an emotional person at all, seriously it takes a lot for me to cry and only three TV shows have ever made me cry, this is one of them. Even now on rewatches with reactors I'm a mess at the end of season 4. Emmy's song Dreams Don't Die makes me sob every single time. Liamani has the most stunning voice for her age, she's a little star who I hope we see a lot more of in the future. Well in fact she's going to be in Descendants 4 as Red's little sister, not sure if you knew that already or not. Ricky and EJ's scenes together are amazing, from where they started to where they are now. And their song about speaking out even when it's scary followed by them both opening up about their fears and Ricky crying are SO important for young men to see. A show like this teaching men that it's ok to be vulnerable and open about mental health struggles will and does help a lot of people. I'm so glad they continued Kourtney's anxiety journey into season 4 and didn't just brush it under the carpet after a big triumph like so many shows do. That means a lot to me as someone who also struggles with it. Her song Jump is beyond beautiful and they tied it into the other storylines really well. Ricky and Gina are just EVERYTHING!! She's the first person he's felt safe enough with to fight for. Even when he thought she was with Mack, he didn't immediately run away. He stayed standing there because I believe a small part of him somehow knew she'd come out and go to him. Their rain kiss with the song Second Chance in the background is stunning in every way. Ricky bringing Gina the chocolates was a nod to him actually being the one who got them for her in season 2, as someone else below said, there was a scene written where he was going to confess to her but it was cut which sucks, but I'm glad they still had him holding the chocolates. And the fact that neither of them would've joined the first HSM musical at all if it wasn't for them meeting each other by chance gave me chills too. Everything about their relationship is fate, it's meant to be. Well a lot of the group is like that. Alyson Reid being the one who gave Miss Jenn the idea for the ballad Wondering that Ashlyn sang, Carlos giving Miss Jenn her name, her saving him from bullies, Kourtney and Ashlyn pushing each other to fight their insecurities to join the show, Mr Mazarra's bad attitude because he was hurting actually being the thing that pushed Miss Jenn to fight for the musical etc etc. The writing is total genius!! Although, the only problem I have is the cheating storyline. I'm glad you took a moment to pause and say how much that annoyed you. I appreciated that. I still don't understand what they were thinking. Seb and Big Red are two characters who would NEVER do that. It makes zero sense. Plus you have Ashlyn, Big Red and Seb as three out canon bisexual characters which is INCREDIBLE and as a bi woman myself I should be really excited by this representation, especially from Disney who still really lack in that area. But instead they ruined it by making all three bi characters cheaters. (Yes Ashlyn didn't kiss Maddox but she 100% would've if they hadn't been interrupted so I'm counting it as emotional cheating.) Personally I've been rejected by guys on dates when they hear I'm bi because of the dumb stereotype that bi people are just stuck in the closet and will always cheat on you with someone of the opposite sex. This is sadly a very real and damaging rumour and a COMPLETELY untrue one. So a show like this with so much influence choosing to make all three bi characters cheat actually hurts me really deeply. Also Big Red and Ashlyn were immediately fine with each other, Carlos forgave Seb really easily and he seemed totally fine with Big Red immediately too. None of them faced any consequences for what they did. This is my favourite show of all time I think but this one storyline ruins it just a little bit and that's beyond frustrating. WHY DID THEY DO THAT?! 🤦 But hey, that aside I really love these episodes and had such a good time laughing and crying along with you. Good luck for next week lol. Seriously if you thought these made you cry, buckle up. 😂💕

That talk with ej + the rain kiss was so cute! Everytime you cry/get emotional during this show so do I bc that’s literally our little family 😭 (also i wanted to say there’s a movie called Kissing Is the Easy Part that dropped on vday. it was really cute, so whenever you get free time or need a movie rec i just wanted to let you know that it’s a good one to add to your list!)

One thing I really appreciate this show for is always having Courtney and Gina’s hair laid. They most likely hired stylists that know black hair. I know this may seem small but usually in shows where it may be geared to a certain audience many black actresses struggle in the hair department. Some shows don’t even try or hire stylists for them. Often making their hair worse or sticking a bad wig on them. It being so bad most of the actresses have to style their own hair and makeup I feel since season 1 this show is the only show that actually prioritized the whole cast and it was such a big jump for black actresses. Ugh I miss this show because the problem is still happening
