Katherine Hunold

I watched this reaction then went back after months and resubscribed to Netflix just to binge the rest of the episodes in one day. It's THAT GOOD.

JediClaire

Mari-Emm

This show has grown to be one of on my top5 shows and I'm living for your reactions to it! <3

Beny

I still can´t believe the introduction to the Cat King is real and happened like this and is not something a fanfic came up with. I love this show so much, I´ll be devastated if Netflix doesn´t give us a 2nd season.

Shreya

This show is just everything I wanted. I became a patreon just for this. Thank you for sharing.

Justin Gil

slg

As if I didn’t already adore you and live for your reactions…. Hale Appleman mention (S1E2), gurrrlllll…. and you’re not wrong, heh

Lilah Kane

This series has been so good and it is something we didn't even expect. ❤️

Mark Lesney

Love your enthusiasm and your discussing the cinematography and effects. Great show.

Chris

I am just sitting here listening to my partner laugh out loud to so much while watching this series! It makes me so gleeful. Due to our crazy work schedules, we had to watch on our own....so we see overlapping bits here and there :D So I am happy that your schedule meshes with mine and I can watch it with you ;)

Anais Winter

oh yeah.....i was waiting for this.

Leslie

I’d put this right under Good Omens and OFMD as far as how much I enjoyed it!

Leslie

Where’s 3&4? We are excited!

Mari-Emm

Oh the 3rd episode broke me haha

Shreya

The complete breakdown over the Queer wonderfulness is everything. Episode 4 and episode 7 are so good too.

BongoPhone

I love how Edwin collects love interests like it's Pokemon. So happy you posted the 3rd one, it only gets better :D

-Mikki- W.L

Episodes 1 and 2 were so good that I ended up binge-watching the rest of the show in 2 days 😂

CryptidRadish

Ahhhhhhh I am SO EXCITED that you’re reacting to this!!!

Cameron

Can't wait for episode 4 :)

Leslie

Ready for more!

CryptidRadish

The sound I made when this notification came… Holy shit this is a good episode and I really really enjoyed your reaction to it! They really hit that midpoint didn’t they? There’s a ton I’m so excited for you to see in the second half of the season

Beny

The case for episode 4 felt a bit weaker to me, especially coming after the Devlin case, but everything surrounding the episode is so good! That interaction with the Cat King, Charles´backstory, the moments between Niko and Edwin. Very great stuff all around.

lizzy

I'm so happy that you've been enjoying this show! Praying for a season 2

BongoPhone

Edwin looking dreamily at Charles had me kicking my feet and giggling when I was watching it, glad to see it made you speechless as well lol

Juanita Ramos

Sooo happy to find your reactions to this amazing show. Eagerly awaiting more ... there will be more ... right?!

Alanna Smith

cant wait for the other reactions

DysfunctionalCreature

Hey why is the reaction to episode 5 out on YouTube, but the full reaction isn't on Patreon yet?

Aidid

Where is the video, queen 😔🫶🏼😍

Beny
>>139428318

She probably forgot to put it on Patreon, it will show up eventually. At least we have the edited version for now.

HeathenPotato

Idk if someone's already mentioned this, but there's a costuming detail that makes the moment between Charles and Edwin towards the end of the episode even sweeter imo, so I'm gonna gush about it for a bit! Charles' hero color is red. So in the beginning of the show, the shirt he wears is bright red. Then, during the Devlin case, when he becomes stuck in the loop, his shirt changes to a deep burgundy to show that he's in a darker place mentally. It remains burgundy throughout all of episode 4 (both Crystal and Niko actually wear red in that episode as a symbolic gesture of support and solidarity, which I thought was really cool!), but at the end of it he is forced to relive his worst trauma by the Night Nurse, which leads to him lashing out at her and subsequently breaking down. And as a result of all that—as well as Crystal rejecting him in the beginning of this episode bc of what he did to the Night Nurse and how that triggers her own trauma with David; thus reinforcing Charles' fear that he is a bad and violent person—his shirt turns black, symbolizing that he's at his lowest. But when he breaks down to Edwin at the end of this episode and admits his greatest fear; that he's worried that deep down he's just like his dad, Edwin reassures him that "bad guys do not worry about being bad guys". And then he reaches out and straightens Charles' collar—revealing that the underside is red/burgundy—as he tells him "You, Charles Rowland, are the best person I know." And with those words Edwin gives Charles back both his hero color and his hope that he might be someone worthy of love. Anyway, sorry for the ramble, but I just thought that was such a sweet little extra detail in an already wonderful scene, and I just generally love how much thought was put into all the costuming in this show, so yeah!

slg

I have been eagerly awaiting your reaction to DBD 1x5. I’m confident I’m not the only one!

Leslie

So now you have to binge the next 3 episodes, can’t WAIT for your reaction, I’m giddy, and although it seems nuts, I think they will do a season 2, why, it’s one of Neil Gaiman’s babies, and GO and Sandman make some money

mortis.carnis🍉

Just so people know, the guy who plays monty/the crow was a Schuyler sister in the Hamilton miscast from 8 years ago

Aidid

The immediate episode 6 upload? This is queen behavior. She really wanted to catch up on the queerness 😔🫶🏼 Thank you, Brittany.

BongoPhone

two episodes back to back? oh my goodness! I love how you clocked in 6th episode Edwin's clothing changed to show off for Charles (and how Charles checked him out heh) 2 more episodes left and what amazing episodes they are 🤩

Mari-Emm

2 eps back to back wasn't what I expected, thank you so much! <3

Juanita Ramos

Ooh Ooh, I binge your first 4 ep reactions in a row then step away for just a couple of days and when I check back there are 2 more! I'll be awake later tonight than I planned 😉

Leslie

So much fun, onward and upward, here comes the penultimate episode, can’t wait for your reaction!

Shreya

The screams in episode 6 reaction are everything. Episode 7 is an ICON. I cant wait to see you lose your mind.

Stephanie Carroll

Gahhhhh I can’t wait to see ur reaction to 7, its THE best episode in my opinion ahaha

Luis Alemar

When are you going to post the last two episodes?

Lea Connor

There is a gif from the first episode where Edwin takes off his coat in the witch's house and Charles eyes him up and down in that.

Airawyn

Richard Speight Jr. has directed a few things before. Including Supernatural season 15 episode 18, which also had a love confession and a trip to Hell.

Nicole Mazza

It's interesting on rewatch because when Edwin first goes into Tragic Mick's store (episode 2?), he looks a bit startled by a doll head that he sees. And then later you see that horrid doll-head spider monster from Hell and you TOTALLY understand why Edwin has some real doll-head trauma!

Nicole Mazza

Also, it wasn't until I first watched ep 7 that I connected that the actress that plays Despair (Donna Preston) is the same one who played Mrs Sandwich (the 'seamstress' -- i.e. madame of the brothel in Aziraphale's neighborhood) in S2 of 'Good Omens'. <3 I love the little Gaiman crossover there! :)

Nicole Mazza

When you mentioned Orpheus and Erydice at the beginning, I was definitely like OH JUST YOU WAIT! :)

Leslie

Watch the staircase confession like 10 more times and give us your opinion pls

Jessica Ley

... and then you look back to the lighthouse episode and when edwin and niko are in the gift shop and remember how edwin turns the doll head away from himself...

HeathenPotato

Having a lot of feelings about the fact that back in ep 4 when the Night Nurse looked through Charles' trauma she saw all of the events leading up to his death, but never the actual death itself. Because despite all the horror he suffered leading up to it, the last hours before he died were full of peace and comfort thanks to Edwin. I'm also just hugely emotional over the fact that Edwin had literally just escaped hell (he is still at the school, which implies he came back in the same place he was sacrificed and hadn't even had the time to go anywhere else yet), and he immediately stumbles upon another dying boy who was the victim of a hate crime committed by his peers, just like Edwin was. And instead of simply leaving or fleeing the scene out of fear that Death will send him back to hell when she comes for the boy, he chooses to stay by his side because he doesn't want him to be scared and alone the way Edwin was. He stays with Charles through the whole night, talks to him for as long as Charles is able, and when he gets too tired to speak or even shiver anymore, Edwin sits by his side and reads to him until he dies quietly and peacefully. That is an unfathomable amount of kindness from a boy who just escaped seven decades of nothing but torment and suffering. Another thing that makes me feel crazy about that scene is that when Edwin tells Charles that it's time for them to go their separate ways because Edwin just escaped hell and doesn't want to end up back there when Death shows up, Charles never even considers the possibility that he might have deserved to be there. He's known Edwin for all of half a day when he decides to choose him over heaven or any other potentially peaceful afterlife. Edwin showed him simple kindness and compassion with no expectation of getting anything in return, and Charles decided in that moment that he wanted to stay by his side forever and protect him from anything that might ever hurt him. A little fun fact to make you feel even more insane about all the DBD/SPN overlap; Richard Speight Jr. is actually the person who directed the SPN episode with the destiel confession. And Steve Yockey is basically known as the destiel king in terms of writers on SPN. So yeah... some interesting parallels... I actually rambled on tumblr about this but like, considering this show was made by multiple people who worked on Supernatural, it really does feel so intentional that Edwin gets sent to hell the moment he tries to confess his love to Charles. Only, unlike in Supernatural, Charles immediately moves heaven and earth to get to him. He follows Edwin down into his darkest horrors and nightmares and gently leads him out by the hand. And as they're ascending the stairway out of hell Edwin confesses again, and is met not with silence or rejection, but with instant acceptance, reassurance that he is loved, and a promise that they have an eternity to figure this out together. Anyway I could scream about that confession scene (and everything else that happened in hell) for hours on end, but this is already so long, so I'll simply leave it on the note that the actors for Charles and Edwin were both adamant that Charles' response to Edwin's confession very much leaves the door open for his feelings to change and grow with time so👀

Mari-Emm

Episode 7 is one of my favourites for so many reasons. One of the reasons being the whole journey we saw Edwin go through and the another reason being the whole thing with Charles we got to see. I love their story, how they met and got to know each other and how they were to become so-called soulmates, quite fast too, I must say. They literally compliment each other, like yin and yang. I also love all the references in this ep, the writers of this show really put thought into everything.

Alanna Smith

the fact he said we got like forever to figure out what the rest means is crazy

Leslie

So, when Charles says we’ve literally got forever to figure the rest out, we know he’s in love with Edwin too right, he just doesn’t know it yet

Emily Boyd

"This is the one where I lose it" this is the one I have been waiting for you to get to because I knew you would lose it.

Palel Catalin

Episode 7 was so good, I loved your reaction! <3

BongoPhone

As much as I absolutely love the staircase scene with our dead boys, the dialogue with Simon scene had me in shambles because it was so heartbreaking. Can't wait for the finale! Today I saw someone post on twitter that the show was reported by a website to be "likely to be renewed" (hope it's accurate and true. fingers crossed.)

slg

S1E7: I think this is one of my all time favorite reactions, thank you! Brittany: Why didn’t I just introduce alcohol with this episode? Me: Excellent question, babes! Analgesia, stat! Every Cat King scene, I can’t stop thinking about Hale Appleman as the Cat King. Which tracks, since I generally obsess over Hale Appleman anyway. Sigh. Oh, and just how many boys are in love with Edwin?! I’m starting to lose count. I mean, I get it…

Sammi Strong

Downloading now. I literally have been checking my phone every couple hours for days waiting for this. I can’t wait to watch it

Beny

We are all desperate for a season 2 announcement, it might end me when Netflix actually tells us that it´s happening.

Beny

Now that we are done, a reminder that they told us when we got the 8-Ball that it is "cursed and predicts your death" so Niko dying was kinda implied for a while. This finale does so many good things that I need a season 2. Jenny seeing the boys? Potentially going to London? The Night Nurse being on the team now? This would be such a different dynamic if we get to see them. And as someone who ships Edwin with the Cat King pretty hard I need to put attention to their goodbye. The Cat King giving him a Lily, which is poisonous for Cats? The symbolism! I know it was to give his condolences, but he could have picked a different flower. And for how long did Edwin know the number of cats? He just got back from hell, he didn´t have any time to continue counting since then. Also the fact that Edwin thought of counting the Cat King, when he himself didn´t even consider himself. God I love them. I know in the longterm Charles is probably supposed to be Edwin´s love interest, but I really hope we get something with the Cat King atleast for a while.

SubtleSraf

*adds my thousand suns to your thousand suns* tell your friends to stream it and finish it and tell them to tell their friends, not kidding

BongoPhone

I hadn't noticed it while I was watching until I saw someone point it out on social media but Charles holds his hand above his heart after they hug in this ep just like Edwin does in ep 5. Don't mind me I'm just crying over how much these two boys love each other... And now the wait for season 2 begins! I hope we get a renewal soon (Niko come back pls) Thank you once again for reacting to this amazing show!

ineovv

I'm not sure if you're aware, but if you aren't: Crystal Palace is also a name of a prominent London football team. Idk if it was a reference cause she's technically American, but for me (aside from being just very pretty-sounding) it brings another level of hilarity to her name xD

Anais Winter

clinging too......i need my boys, my baddass medium and sweet precious niko back.

Elizabeth H

It’s canceled 😡 😭 I can’t say I’m surprised, but I’m very, very disappointed!

Britney Lee
>>148064999

I'm fucking devastated. I really needed a season 2. At least a season 2. It doesn't help that Dead Boy Detectives is currently my brain's obsession so hearing that it's been canceled in the middle of said obsession makes it hurt more. 😭

Britney Lee

Rewatching your reactions to keep myself motivated in the fight to save the show. I'm on episode 5 and when Edwin is checking the compatibility of a Taurus and an Aries - Charles is the Taurus and Crystal is the Aries. Now if you remember in episode 3 when they met Monty, Monty correctly guessed that Edwin is a Capricorn. If you look up the compatibility of a Taurus and a Capricorn: "Taurus and Capricorn are highly compatible signs that can form a strong, lasting bond. Both Taurus and Capricorn are practical, down-to-earth, and value hard work. They can understand each other's goals and aspirations, and support each other without envy. Taurus and Capricorn are both honest and loyal, and they respect each other's priorities. Taurus can teach Capricorn to relax and enjoy life's simple pleasures, while Capricorn can encourage Taurus to chase their dreams. Taurus and Capricorn can feel secure in their relationship from the very beginning. [episode 7 anyone?] Taurus and Capricorn are both earth signs, and they share similar traits like stamina, practicality, and loyalty." - Google AI summary Other sources refer to the match as "The Ideal Match" and "a match made in heaven". In other words, Payneland is the perfect match. The writers of this show absolutely did that shit on purpose. The detail!

Sharon Garinger

I just started watching DBD. I do agree with you, Brittany, Hale Appleman would have been a fantastic Cat King!

Kasia

I am totally not re-watching your reaction to this series for like the 5th time, despite the show being cancelled...... not at all
