you're kidding... YOU'RE KIDDING. YOU'RE REACTING TO THIS. YES. THANK YOU. FUCK.

Kate

LET’S FUCKING GOOOOOO. omg omg omg ROSAMUND PIKE STEP ON MEEEEE lmao. God I love the costumes, the story, that blend of cgi and practical, the fucking landscapes (a mix of Croatia, the Czech Republic and Slovakia I believe), the diversity, and just everyythiiinnggg. I haven’t watched s01 since it aired and I’d forgotten how much of a banger the opening ep isssss. SO EXCITED for this journey!!! PS the guy who plays Lan is from MI like me which means I get to claim him haha.

Dana

Thank you Valdinia...and Brittany. I love this series.

Once_upona_fae

Ahhhhh, my favorite ongoing fantasy show🥹 thank you so much for reacting.

Valdinia

I can't wait to get off work and watch these! Screw sleep 🤣

Valdinia

Okay I lied I couldn't wait I started watching on my lunch break from my tiny phone screen. Anyway yes the premise (dragon&co broke the world) is straight from the books but everyone from wot is an unreliable narrator as well 🥰

Valdinia

More like reneissance post-apolycalyptic but YES! Light I love wheel of time worldbuilding

Valdinia

Robert Jordan did set out to write a world where the power dynamics between the genders are flipped. Success in the books is variable because he did have some hangups himself but that's what he was trying to do!

Valdinia

I don't remember if every director they have is a woman but actually every one I remember is, now that I think of it 🤣 I think they had four-ish directors per season, working in 2-episode chunks (this is just from what I remember from behind the scenes videos I watched ages ago so I might be wrong)

Sarah Deiters

I am so happy to see you react to this serious. I am a book reader and show watcher. Season three had some of the best things l have ever seen in shows or movies.

TheSporkIdentity

Really enjoying your reaction, especially getting to see this from the perspective of someone completely new to the series who HASN'T read the books! It's highlighting some things I hadn't really noticed before and giving me an appreciation of it as a standalone show that I couldn't get on my own, unable to stop analyzing all the changes they made to adapt it to a new medium and social context 35 years after the first book was published (oh no, has it really been that long 😱)

TheSporkIdentity

Also very much lol'd at the IMMEDIATE imprinting on Mat. Welcome to the club!

VroDo

If you love and want more great long monologues in TV shows you should check out the Mike Flannagan shows if you have time!

Alice K.

Oh! Wheel of Time with you. Love it!!!

Dana

Break bone disease is the old fashioned name of lockjaw, tetanus. A bacteria that kills in that way. Yeah, nature is pretty nasty. Thank goodness for vaccines.

Valdinia

Just watched ep5-6 reactions I'm so happy 🥰

1x01 • 3:30 – its always been this premise lol; im CACKLING that the ppl you researched from lied to you like that • 6:00 – THOSE ARE IN FACT BUILDINGS!! :D fav unsaid worldbuilding detail • they filmed in prague!! and it continues to STUNNING!!!! • the fact that you loved padan fain IMMEDIATELY lmaooo; the show LOVES to make us enamoured with characters you ultimately want to hate, and it’s good at it too • I love that the wheel of time speech was the thesis statement; there’s so many interesting little quirks of how they structure the story like that!! • “something’s happened with egwene” “the nunnery” PLEASE ashfuksnvjks loool • and also since this contains 1x03 as well, I love that his and dana’s statements are a mirror, and act as a kind of debate that’ll play out through the whole series (assumedly) • “what the fuck is that!” some SHIT lmao • “well everyone’s dying so maybe we shouldn’t judge” I think you’re the first person to not IMMEDIATELY want it on sight with the cauthon mother for ‘leaving’ the girls out there and having some grace for her • “bad bitch hours, lets go” YESSSSSSS EXACTLY RIGHT!!! • “it’s so ugly and it’s just getting uglier” 10/10 trolloc summary, no notes. • “who designed these, guillermo del toro?!” no but he would definitely approve. • “she took the building apart!!” AND DID!! That’s my white mother right there!!!! • “we’re looking for the chosen one hero, not the chosen one villain.” well. WELL. • “that’s such a banger premise!!” I TOLD YOU!!! THIS SERIES SLAPS SO MUCH AND IT ONLY GETS FUCKING BETTER!!!! (I am not the one who commissioned you and likely FAR from the only one asking you to react to this series, but STILL)

4c_aperture

1x02 • “I know you!” I can promise you that you don’t know him like this. “What in the Hannibal Lecter is going on?” LMAOOO • The blood fingerprints on the goblet with her still burning is one of the BEST shots in this series point blank, the rest of y’all can argue with your mother! • I LOVE THE FUCKING OPENING SEQUENCE ITS SO GOOD!!! • “they’re (the horses) beautiful!!” you 🤝 moiraine 🤝 being horsegirls (its not an emphasized detail carried over from the books but I love that she’s a spoiled horsegirl) • you loving mat so immediately and unabashedly is SO great for me personally • “if you would be so kind as to get fucked” LMAOOO REAL!!!! • “bring back long monologues!” ALSO extremely real! This was one of the moments I adored even more than in the book (only read a bit of the first one) • “I think Hayden Christensen” ashncjkunajdk LMAOOOO not you nicknaming him that (accurate tho lol)

4c_aperture

1x03 • “oh something good is happening to somebody!” well. WELL. • “oh no wait do I love him” thom is SO great!! I adore him, I always need more of him!! • “We’ll take turns.” “If you think she’s up for it.” one of my favorite jokes from s1. I adore it so much • YOU’RE ENTIRE REACTION TO THE MATRAND TEAS LMAO • this! This is why I wanted more gay people to watch this show!! The thing is just CHOCK FULL of shit like this!!!!! • “Was that a name? Was that the name of a particular woman?” IT SURE FUCKING WAS!!! • Fun fact: back when I first watched this I was also listening to a podcast recap, and the book readers were ALSO siuanraine shippers from book subtext, and I got the unmatched joy of hearing one of them tell the other (who didn’t have subtitles on) what moiraine whispered and hearing the sapphic SHRIEKING!! • “not since firefly have I been duped like that” well the one thing I can promise is that we were ALL duped!!

Dana

Episode 8 was a bit of a disaster production wise. They had a whole scene set out in North Africa for the finale, but then covid hit and they had to scramble to come up with new sets to accommodate...and then the actor who played Mat quit so then they had to scramble to write hin out of the last two episodes which was a disaster because as any book fan knows, he's kinda key to this plot arc. They had to bring back actors to reshoot and it was pretty bad. Yeah so. That explains the cheaper sets. Next season recovers nicely and the third season is even better.

Valdinia

Black wind: on-screen moiraine did hear 'you will murder these children and call it heroism' and lan 'you can't protect her'. Probably something after that but that's obviously on top of their thoughts because of the quest they're on. And a note that I wrote after watching ep6 but didn't want to post before I knew you'd watched episodes 7-8 so as to not influence your opinion too much. (I really like s1 ep7-8 even with their faults.) If you like s1 costume design & effects let me tell you their budget got a HUGE upgrade between every season 🤣 S1 and especially the last two episodes of s1 were done on a shoestring budget compared to the later seasons (Covid lockdowns shut down production between ep6 and ep7 for 7 months and messed with everything. They had to rewrite the last episodes to work without any stunts (their stunt team couldn't come back) and two named characters whose actors left/were leaving and some locations for one. And of course since they were towards the end of filming they must have used most of their budget already.)

Luna

Ahh I hope you watch the next seasons when you can, they clearly get a budget upgrade and s3 was banger

iamafanfictionfreak

I'm thrilled - need to find some quiet time to watch and ramble and anything and everything

Once_upona_fae

So they canceled this show after giving us the best season. I’m so mad😭🤬
