I could only dream of having a tenth of the singleminded focus Zhang Ping has when confronted with a puzzle. Also, sidebar. Does china have a thing for detectives that are either related to food, cook food, or are foodies? I think this is the fourth show I’ve seen with that trope.

TheSporkIdentity

yessss! this show is so good, i can't wait to watch you lose your mind over it lol

Alice K.

I love MowenPeizi, but ZhangPingLanJue is okay too.

Dana

If you like this you would definitely like Nirvana in Fire 😃 😊

Chris

I saw this appear on Viki and I got so excited! Yay!

A very young Zhang Zhehan (A'Xu in Word of Honor!) plays the younger version (in flashbacks) of the main character :)

Chris

LOL Anyone else here with a "competency kink".....? *shyly raises hand* Um..... main reason I fell for my partner! lolololololol

Zeenat Littles

I have a question, have you seen men with sword you really should watch it, my fav character is Murong Li/Ah Li, he goes around taking over kingdoms for revenge and all the kings keep falling for him and letting him because he's so beautiful 🤣🤣 One of the best shows I've watched, the ban hit when s3 was supposed to happen so there are unfortunately only 2 seasons😕 but it's still one of the best, you won't regret it.

FabulousLove

Bout a minute in and I had to come back and leave a comment about how much I love your reactions. Don't know why I'm still surprised by that now, since I've watched so many things with you, but sending some love here. 🥰 Happy to join you in watching a new show I know absolutely nothing about.🤓

Chris

Your We download atuff works great! i feel bad fpr those where it dpesm

TheSporkIdentity

is that a new splash screen at the beginning? cute!

TheSporkIdentity

also, so pumped that you got to zhang ping's hypnotherapy bowl! it has some of the most beautiful cgi sequences

jdkkw Li

I just realised that this the first Chinese queer drama you have watched without magic and fantasy!!!??? And the costumes is based on real Dynesty in ancient China??!!

jdkkw Li

(And happily waiting for more episodes since I can’t watch your live because of studies

Inala

I don't normally have a problem with wetransfer but eps 5 and 6 just aren't downloading at all. t says it's downloading but the download stays at 0.0 and time to download stays at 4/5 hours even though nothing is downloading

Inala

Sorry it's coming in at about 100kb/s - and it's not my download speed I'm still getinng over 100mbps on my internet. It shouldn't take 6 hours to download a 1.8Gb file in the 21st century

Inala

Another quick update from me - I managed to download ep 5 from the google drive in 3 minutes, ep 6 has been downloading now for almost 5 hours from wetransfer. There's definitely an issue with it as the primary downlload site.

Erin Hartley

By now it should be clear that Zhang Ping did not hear Lan Yue's confession. He was indeed completely asleep and didn't fake it.

The eps are up on Google Drive as a back up for when anyone runs into WeTransfer issues (though 7 is currently uploading and not usable yet).

Dana

No shade, but in episode 7 they have an interesting idea of what they call bullying. I think this was a poor plot contrivance to use for a lecture on the morality of righteousness. Tbh. Otherwise pretty episode as usual.

I wouldn't say that's a correct translation, sometimes direct translation doesn't work when there is subtext or cultural reference involved.

jdkkw Li

yeah we got the ep12!

TheSporkIdentity

lol, the league of nobleman experience. go in expecting to ship zhang ping and lan jue and coming out with a polycule. mowen, dark horse of my heart. also, i will never be over his emotional support orchid

Chris

I LOVE LOVE LOVE YOUR REACTIONS! OMG! THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME SUCH jOY IN THIS LIFE!!!!

Lisa Wilson

There is just something about Lan Jue at home with his hair half down that just makes me go feral. I can’t explain it. He’s just too pretty!

TheSporkIdentity

god, you think the show can't get any more intense and then you hit the 20s and LOSE YOUR MIND it's so good. also, shuliiiiiiin! it kills me that he CONSISTENTLY does that little thumb rub whenever he and lan jue touch

Lilah Kane

Episode 22, censors went on a field trip. Episode 23 does not exist and Chifu lives happily ever after in the mountains. RUDE.

TheSporkIdentity

oh my GOD my face-blind ass JUST realized shulin is he shouyue snake man from yin-yang master dream of eternity

EllenD

Thanks so much for adding the latest episodes, Brittany! I know they must be a pain to edit, but it's greatly appreciated!

Lisa Wilson

All hail the gay manifestation prayer! The Zhang Ping/Mowen arc has been achieved and the Triad/Love square/Pentagon thing is in full radiant existence!

Marissa Cornett

You are so funny and cute, Brittany. I love your obsession with the Chinese lantern and appreciation of Chinese traditional aesthetics. lol
