**So sorry for the mis-synched audio! It's only by a few seconds, but still. 💀 Unfortunately, I wasn't aware of the mistake until I'd already deleted the raw footage, so this is what we have to work with. Many apologies. <3

***Episode 41 was unfortunately cut a few minutes short due to my PC running out of memory during filming. (Literally the one time I don't obsess over having enough harddrive space before I hit record, because of course. 💀💀)

Can't wait to watch this with you!! It's been over 2 years since I last saw this!!

Lisa Wilson

The chaos twink and his stoic protector husband. I love this dynamic so much. Can never get enough of it! And may I just say that whoever styled them as Oirats deserves all the awards!!

Lilah Kane

All hail the package! 💖

Minerva Grey

Yay! Wanted to watch it real time, but it's at 4.30 AM, and since I'm stuck in a regular office job with kids and stuff I just had to adult a bit and tell myself "NO". It was hard.

Anonym WLW

Ooh, can't wait to catch up and be there for the lives next time!

Stephen Bolt

Wang Zhi is my favorite character. I missed him so much 😅

luxin

omg yess im so excited for this

luxin

ughhh you're going to love their dynamic and found family

Ezekiel

Once_upona_fae

It’s been a year since i last saw this, so excited to rewatch it with you.

Olena

Such a good start! 👍 Beautiful Cinematography as in ALON, more funny situations and faster developing actions. And actors with there long hair down are so-so handsome 😍 😉 ✨️ Cannot wait for the next episode!!!

TheSporkIdentity

i swear, every single time i've rewatched this i've completely forgotten they gave wang zhi the world's tiniest gun and every time i'm delighted like yes. if anyone deserves a gun in this show it is my 17 year old murder meow meow xD

Dana

I can't wait to watch this with you with the downloads, this show has been on my watchlist for a while, as I'm a huge fan of historical dramas (I might have mentioned that a billion times before!). So, I'm really excited about it!

Olena

Can't wait for 2 more episodes 😍 😩 🙏🙏🙏🙏 Mercy Please Pretty Please 🙏 🫣

Dana

I just finished watching the first four episodes and I'm totally hooked! The little one is absolutely adorable and reminds me so much of Meng Yao from 'The Untamed'. He's got that same kind of energy and look that just draws you in. Plus, let's be real, there's not a single straight bone in his body - and I'm loving every second of it! It's so cute and chill, just like 'Love is More Than a Word' hint hint hint go watch that peoples ;)

Thank you for your recommendation 😊 Where could I find LIMTAW? 🤔 thanks 😊

Dana

in episode 5 that bishonen worked his charm and talked his way into moving in with the big soldier dude. No way that's just hetero! And he knows he's got the soldier guy wrapped around his little finger with that cute act of his. What a little brat, but you gotta respect the hustle!

RedStalkingDeath

Was expecting the moving in together, coaxing Sui Zhou into getting a daughter and all in ep 5, but I had somehow forgotten about the bath!🤯 Can only assume it was for the sake of my own sanity... Btw, if this has you wondering how things got past censorship, SCI would do it even more. Just saying😇

Dana

The official in episode 7 was quoting Taoist doctrine. I know it well because I ve reread the Tao Te Ching a million times. I don't know what his deal is but he's no Taoist. 'I have just three things to teach: simplicity, patience, compassion. These three are your greatest treasures. Simple in actions and in thoughts, you return to the source of being. Patient with both friends and enemies, you accord with the way things are. Compassionate toward yourself, you reconcile all beings in the world.'

Olena

Ahhh! Love these actors faces! So much fun!! Unbelievable connections between actors 👏 🥰😍 Such a great series!!! Enjoying their play so-so much!!!!

Deenita Morton

The Queen is based on a real person. She was older than the Emperor and was jealous of all the concubines so she had them killed or caused them to have an abortion all except for the crown Prince.

Dana

I always wonder when watching these dramas how well the ethnic minorities are being portrayed.i just don't know enough to know, but I wonder if the characters are being played by the right minority or if it's accurate and not a stereotype. I know the Han basically took over after many centuries and the current country is Han majority and everyone is forced to speak Mandarin so I do wonder how it works in their dramas. I just don't know enough.

luxin

Considering what Tibetans and Uyghurs are currently going through, you can clearly see how China treats its minorities. My dad is ethnic Han Chinese and my mom is Tibetan-Nepali. My grandfather from my mom's side fled Tibet and sought refuge in Nepal where he met my grandmother. My grandfather was so traumatized that he never spoke about Tibet, not to his children and even his grandchildren. Protestors in Tibet are setting themselves on fire, so you can see how extreme it is there. Really wish the rest of the world cared enough.

RedStalkingDeath

Speaking of Sui Zhou having a nice voice, did you know that's the actor's actual voice? (As in, he's not dubbed by a voice actor😳 while the other 2 main characters are)

>>107504831

And the actor has a Taiwanese Chinese accent, some people hate it, but I think it did not bother me.

Dana

Watching up to episode 11. A fun fact is that Europeans once believed tomatoes were poisonous due to their consumption from lead alloy plates, leading to the lead seeping into the fruit and making it toxic for humans. The idea of het being forced onto the "pretty boy" isn't to my liking. I see what you are doing there, writers. Sigh.

Kish
>>108556127

Well, they have to even out the otherwise very queer stuff somehow! And sui zhou certainly isn’t helping with that with the whole “I shall house you, feed you, pamper you, and look at you with fondness for the rest of my life” 👀

Ezekiel

wolf peach sounding like a nonbinary stripper name got a good chuckle out of me

EllenD
>>108688165

imo, "Tomato" might be a good nonbinary stripper name too

Lisa Wilson

I never noticed how often he cornered chaos twink against walls. Lol. I can’t concentrate on what he’s saying when he’s being all domineering like that!😘

Dana

I think in episode 15 the canonical reason why Zhou said he didn't think Wang Zhi was at the brothel for girls is because he's a eunuch and the assumption would be he'd have no sexual interest in anyone because he's castrated. Well it's plausible as deniability anyways for the writers, I think anyone whose not paying close attention would think its a queer reference.

jdkkw Li

Omg, I told Sunset...that one is really nice!!!!

Dana

I knew it was only a matter of time before you began to feel a soft spot for the chessmaster snake. Despite his amoral nature, he does possess a sense of loyalty that cannot be compromised. However, I still fear that he may end up becoming the antagonist at some point or even worse, meet his demise. But let's stay hopeful and keep our fingers crossed.

TheSporkIdentity

it has been so fun watching you so begrudgingly come around to liking wang zhi, like fine you'll like him but you won't be HAPPY about it lol

Dana

Episode 24: The emperor, the all-powerful ruler of the dynasty, holds absolute authority over the life and death of every individual from the moment they are born. It's hard to fathom the concern they harbor for even the slightest possibility of someone else possessing any power (wang zhi). As much as I enjoy period dramas, I find it difficult to suppress my democratic values when faced with such autocratic leaders, even in fiction.

Dana

Episode 25: yes poison blah blah, drama. But more importantly, who is this cute doctor of the Emperor, who so un-sexily discussed the Emperor's toiletry habits but was cute doing it. We couldn't have him have that whole conversation without him becoming relevant later.

Kish

The gasp at Episode 29 😂 Honestly same though. I remember the speed at which I clicked next for episode 30 when I first watched this. Cant imagine having to wait 3 weeks.

Kish

On episode 29: I never noticed before that Sui Zhou looked at Tang Fan shivering inside the ice cellar and only then did he say they should talk outside. Just when you thought Sui Zhou couldn’t be more of a caring boyfriend, he does stuff like this. Sir, stop being so perfect 😩

Kish

More on episode 29: I would just like to emphasize that Tang Fan called out to Sui Zhou first the moment he woke up. Not Duo’erla, not even his sister. “Guangchan” was the first words out of his lips after his near-death experience.

Dana

I always check who the most popular ships are on AO3 when I watch something. The most popular ship is obvious, but the second most popular ship is Wang Zhi and his second in command Ding. I never really saw it until the last episode. I don't think I've seen eunuch/eunuch fiction before. I shall check it out when the series finishes.

Lisa Wilson

Yes! The cross dressing arc has arrived! I am so ready!🤣🤣🤣

Lisa Wilson
>>111013277

Chaos twink in full drag pointing an accusatory finger at his boyfriend/husband, “You hit a girl!”…..his face…🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Lilah Kane

The sound sync is little bit off with episode 32. Only the series sounds that is. 😊

Dana

Episode 35 not very realistic. Boys were castrated before puberty to be selected and trained to be Eunuchs around 8 or 9 and most of them were captured children or sons of prisoners of war. The death rate of the castration was pretty high as theycut off both testicles and the penis so those selected were expendable. They didn't select random full grown men off the street for the procedure in the Ming Dynasty. (they used it to punish prisoners in the previous dynasty)So Idk..guess we handwave that away.

Stephen Bolt

Hey, it says that the link for episode 34 has expired, could you please upload it again?

Dana

Episode 38 is making me mad. I don't want anything to happen to the Princess but there are a lot of Death flags. Stupid patriarchy, by rights she should have been the Empress. Grr.

Dana

So Wang Zhi is a son of a rebel. That makes sense. The punishment for his father was to have his son castrated to end the family line. These Dynasties were ruthless, they probably thought that was kinder than having every family member to the 9th relative be put to death, which was another punishment for being a traitor. Castrated around 8 or 9, survived the mutilation, the only option left is to be a Palace Eunuch, 1 in maybe 300 might make it far with wits, like Wang Zhi, but it's not a happy fate. And to think, hundreds of years later Eunuchs are often cast as the villains in Palace stories. I have thoughts on that but I'll hold for now.

Wang Zhi is an actual historical figure and a couple different characters are too. I'm not sure how much is accurate to the actual person, but it was interesting to read up on, I wouldn't suggest anyone read up on him until after you finish the show in case he did some things in this show that he did in history.

Ninni

I can see that episode 41 was unfortunately cut short, but is episode 41 only 23 minutes, or did my download cut even more off at the end? (That has happened before.)

Lisa Wilson

The end of another amazing series!!❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Max

"The most fabulous twink in the district!" I watched this series before, how on earth have I not noticed this?!
