Alright I got some more updates for Carol’s Delivery Dash done, it was a lot of misc updates such as overhauling how the pizza spawning works, visual changes, some added secrets, and the highly requested mobile version of the game.

Just like last time, if you don't want to read all this and just jump in.

Then here’s the TWO links this time.

PC version

Mobile version

(Same password as always, "PizzaTime")

UPDATE (1/28)

Added another Results Screen gorl (showed off on this post now).

As of right now, the new gorl appears every odd order and the old results screen gorl appears every even order. Also the downloadable PC version and Itch.io versions have all been updated to reflect this.

I thought it would be a good idea to have another Results screen for advertising the update both because it's adding onto the past update by having more improved animation from before (showing off the improvements to the game, even if subtle in some ways), and it works for teasing something else in the update.

Also posts on sites like Twitter don't do as well without a photo / gif / video attached so that's also why lol.

Hope you guys like her! I plan on adding more Results screen gorls in the future! :)

And now onto all the noteworthy changes

As said before, there’s a mobile version of the game now.

Both versions of the game now have touch screen swipe controls. So if you have a touch screen monitor (like I do) then you can play it like that for PC as well.

The mobile version (past the controls) has the same game coding as the PC version, only real differences being aspect ratio changes for mobile screens and changes to the UI. As a result of this, I plan on making this one link in the future, if I’m able to (seemingly I’m not, but who knows maybe I can find something.)

Also there’s a warning in case you try to play it vertically instead of horizontally in landscape mode, just so no one is confused. You don’t have to listen to the warning I guess but just letting you know it’s there at the bottom of the screen and will stay there if you don’t lol.

Mouse controls have been added to the game

Due to how the touch screen controls work in GML, this allows you to now swipe up and down with a mouse as well for movement. This resulted in the game needing some other (later detailed) edits to accommodate.

Music has been added to the game.

There is now music for:

The intro text screen

The main game loop

The results screen

The pause screen

The game over screen

And also sound effects for:

Collecting a pizza

Collecting a Pizza Timer

Collecting clothes

Losing clothes

Accessing ??? mode

I tried to make the music both fast paced while adding some motifs for a bit of familiar classical Italian music. It’s my first time doing this sort of game sound design work so I hope you all like it, and if not…

A mute button for the music has been added to the game’s title screen!

This button mutes ALL music and sound effects in the game.

And here’s the list of every single little change that was made since the last update in October.

Updated the credits to add the names of patrons who have joined since the October build.

I also added a thank you for my free members of the Patreon for their support, but not individually named like the paid members are

Also a thank you for a newer small collaborator in this project.

The formatting of the credits has been tweaked so it looks a bit nicer with the text spacing.

A mobile version has been created for the game.

Touch controls and mouse controls have been added to the game as a result.

For the mobile version, the “press any key to [BLANK]” prompts have been adjusted to say “tap the screen to [BLANK]” to avoid confusion.

You can still tap the screen on the PC version, if you happen to have a touch screen monitor.

For the PC version, every single “press any key to [BLANK]” prompt can now be passed by clicking the screen with your mouse too.

The main game has a pause button in the top left for touch / mouse controls.

This button is white when it can be pressed, red when the game is currently paused, and grayed out when you can’t pause the game.

The pause screen allows you to use your mouse cursor to hover over the options and select them like you would in any game with mouse support.

For touch screen controls, you can just tap them to select them.

The text prompts on the bottom of the pause screen for confirming if you want to QUIT the game have been adjusted.

Now if you want to quit you could tap / mouse click the red labels of YES or NO instead.

The text prompt for the Are You Sure? has been adjusted to let players know they can do this.

When you’re on the Results screen then pressing any key to instantly skip the animation and show you the results now works with a single mouse click / screen tap as well.

The mute button on the title screen has mouse / touch controls like how the options button does.

The aspect ratio of the game for the mobile version has been adjusted so it can better work on the smaller iOS and Android phone screens when Itch.io plays it in mobile mode.

The Desktop version remains the same 720p version that works best on the PC Itch.io browser screen.

I also patched some glitches with this

The “Tap the screen to [BLANK]” prompts now have a MINOR input delay that would not be very noticeable with keyboard controls.

This was done so you wouldn’t pass two different screens with a “Tap the screen to [BLANK]” prompt with a single mouse click / screen tap.

It seems like this didn’t affect keyboard controls as much as the newly added touch / mouse controls.

When you hovered the mouse over the options on the pause screen then it would just make the keyboard controls not work, now if you hover a mouse over the options and press up or down on the keyboard then the game ignores the mouse until you move the cursor again

Music has been added to the game.

There is now music for:

The intro text screen

The main game loop

The results screen

The pause screen

The game over screen

And also sound effects for:

Collecting a pizza

Collecting clothes

Losing clothes

Collecting a Pizza Timer

Accessing ??? mode

Also these can all be muted on the title screen with the mute button.

The main game loop pauses and resumes at the beginning of the round instead of resetting because it could get a bit annoying hearing only the beginning part of it over and over again.

Made it so there’s specifically an intro of the song in the first round only and it loops perfectly with the ending after that

Flower / Pizza spawning has been overhauled.

Now every “spawn round” three blue (pizza) flowers spawn every time with the occasional fourth special flower spawning alongside them instead of replacing the third blue flower.

The special flowers are the Red Flower warning of an upcoming stripper bush and the new Yellow Flower warning of an upcoming clothes line.

There is still no warning flower for the Pizza Timer.

Red flowers, Yellow Flowers, or Pizza Timers can NOT be spawned at the same time anymore. Only one at a time.

Red and Yellow flowers ONLY spawn in the top and bottom lanes, while Pizza Timers ONLY spawns in the middle lane.

Spawning chances have been adjusted so now when you’re fully clothed then you have double the chances of finding a stripper bush, and if you’re fully naked then you have double the chances of finding a clothes line.

The chances of finding a Pizza Timer increase as the rounds progress so they can help you keep going as the overall round time goes down.

??? fixes

Added some secret content to the game on the pause screen. But that’s the only hint I’m giving for that. You’ll have to find iT yourself. ;)

Added some new animations for the two ??? modes.

Added some sound effects so you know if ??? is wrong or right.

Added a text prompt in case you need help getting out of ???.

Fixed many bugs with it, like it screwed a lot with the music for zero reason.

Visual Fixes

A period was forgotten for the “Hit C to Quit the Credits.” prompt.

I hope Christ is able to forgive me for the horrible sins I bear.

The backgrounds have been adjusted so now the grass and sidewalk tiles get new textures the faster you go (the more clothes you get), so it doesn’t look as choppy as before.

In fact it makes it look like she’s going even faster than before. She’s not, but it has that neat effect.

Red Flowers have been redesigned to be a different flower type from Blue flowers, and the new Yellow Flowers are different as well.

This was done to help with readability, especially for any potential colorblind ENF fans playing this.

Their flower types are following:

Blue flowers are still Forget-Me-Nots.

Reds have been turned into Red Petunias.

Yellows are Sunflowers.

When you hit any key to skip the Results animation before, it would make the red $ for your tip total turn gray as well due to a layering issue, this was adjusted so it stays red.

In the main game where the top left and right corners of the “colored” gameplay met the black top of the screen, there are tiny black edges that make it look a bit nicer, this was forgotten in the Results screen and has now been added to that screen as well.

The “empty zeroes” for Timer, Tips, and the Final Score now have a nicer darker shade like how calculators do with empty places.

By “empty zeroes” I mean something like $001.23 then the 00 would be a darker red. Or for the timer, if it’s 075 then the first 0 would be darker yellow.

Some minor text adjustments were done to the Pause screen so the Deliverer name lines up better with the receipt on the Results screen.

The comments on the receipt for the Results Screen were moved down one pixel.

I told you these were gonna name every small change I made lol.

Code fixes

Comments in the game code have been updated / added so if there’s a way someone could see the game code, then they would have a better understanding of what everything in the code does (or so I remember what it all does whenever I get back to working on this lol).

Adjusted the variable names so they’re more consistent.

Deleted a ton of unnecessary objects and code so hopefully the game runs better / takes up less space than it would have.

Misc fixes

For some reason obj_Final_Score did not show on the Game Over screen when played on the HTML (itch.io browser) version of the game. I adjusted it so it just gets drawn with the “Press any key to Restart” object instead.

This made it so it gets drawn every time for HTML and the Windows download version.

The mute button used to break the title screen so when you hovered over the mute sound button, held down either F2, F3, or F4, and then hovered off of it, the “Press any key to start the game” prompt would not appear… making it so you could not start the game until you unfocused the game and then reclicked in the screen to refocus the game.

I don’t know why the hell that happened, but I was able to get the code reworked a bit so it does not do that anymore lol.

The music kept breaking because I thought it was way easier to add music and sounds then it was, so I worked it all into an Audio Controller object instead so it works much better.

Thank you for reading! I hope you have a fun time with the update! :)
