【Soka Dirly】 Filling my own emptiness with fear #4 (Patreon)

In the evening, F and Shosuke came back from work, then set off to see the fireworks in Hanamaki. The plan was to crash at their aunt's place in Hanamaki right after the show. I drove the two of them over to Morioka Station.
I was secretly looking forward to this night. Alone time didn't come around often. For days I'd been cooking up plans for how to kill the hours, but when I actually walked into the house, the living room was a mess—LEGOs scattered across the floor, half-drunk glasses of juice, Shosuke’s clothes left right where he’d dropped them. All of it just made his absence hit harder, and a goddamn loneliness crept in. The living room without Shosuke was too quiet. F, too.
When I was young, I never had trouble figuring out how to kill time alone. I suffered through plenty of unnamed angst and dread, sure, but I never stood in the middle of a living room staring into nothing like this. It was a hell of a surprise to find out just how empty I really was.
Still, I couldn't just do nothing. And working was out of the question. So I decided to play video games.
I’ve been playing Poppy Playtime since last month. Feels a bit late to the party, but once you start, it’s good. I can see why the whole world went crazy for it. With every chapter, the quality picks up—by Chapter 3, the graphics get dense and detailed, the controls feel sharp, and the size of the thing actually satisfies. The boss fights were the best part. Each one throws a different set of mechanics and demands at you. You can feel the developers’ pure, raw energy to entertain you—or scare the hell out of you. I like games like this.
Personally, Miss Delight midway through left a hell of an impression on me. Her fight plays out like a game of Red Light, Green Light. You're navigating through all these rooms and hallways, so the second you lose sight of where she is, the terror doubles. Her design is brilliant—massive eyes with perma-dilated pupils, the skin around her mouth peeled back to expose her raw teeth and gums. She carries a spiked mace with pretty serious lethal intent, chasing you down with her jaw swinging wildly back and forth. Great stuff.
Games like tag, hide-and-seek, or Red Light, Green Light might just be universal archetypes of play. As adults, we rarely get to play them anymore, but reliving that childhood feeling inside a video game is a hell of a good experience.
Today I managed to make it partway through Chapter 4. Right at the Yarnaby boss fight. Honestly, I still haven't figured out how to finish him off. The stage feels huge, and the mechanics are convoluted. But I want to solve it on my own if I can, so I'll hold off on playing a let's play from my favorite channel for now.
When my eyes got tired enough, I laid out my futon. Then I jerked off and went to sleep.
