World Naked Bike Ride Byron Bay 2024 ππ²πΌ (Patreon)

Sunday 10 March 2024
One of my favourite events on the nudie calendar π₯³ and the weather was MUCH better this year than last π₯³
I went along with my friends, Eddie and Christina, and we met with my fellow 'Byron Naturists'.
This year, our focus was on the continuing advocacy of 'Save Tyagarah Clothing-Optional Beach'...and so Eddie and I thought we would do a 'Roller Derby' theme as the 'Tyagarah Tigers'...on rollerblades! (Christina stuck with a bike).
We were painted by none other than 'Pricasso' himself (albeit painted with a brush and not his usual pairing tool (his penis!). (Yes, Pricasso is famous for painting amazing portraits with his penis! He has featured in my 'Body Colour' videos from 2020 if you want to check him out!) π¨π¨π¨
The ride started at 3pm and we were ushered along the streets of the famous Byron Bay...doing 2 laps of the town...hundreds of spectators cheering us on, taking videos and photos...many probably not expecting a heap of naked people of bikes, rollerbladed and skateboards rolling through the streets.
I'd been wanting to do rollerblades for a few years now...and whilst it was fun...there was one street that was a bit terrifying! It was an unexpected downhill and unfortunately Eddie has a fall and split their chin!! At first, we thought it was just a big scratch, but they had a chunk taken out of their chin! π©Ή
Eddie chugged on and whilst we fell behind and had to take a shortcut to catch up to everybody else, we finished the ride. We definitely took our blades off the second time round on that same road that Eddie had their fall...and lesson learnt...no more rollerblades for WNBR! I'm glad I ticked it off, but they're definitely not as practical as a bike!
We got back and got lots of fun photos, group photos etc. We also had the local newspaper there. Great community and lots of fun this year! Really awesome vibes this year. And...for many of us, it was really great to gather again to continue fighting to save Tyagarah!
The day ended with a visit to the emergency room where Eddie got stitches, but they are ok and we know we won't be choosing blades for our mode of transport for rides moving forward π
Overall, it really was such a fun day and I look forward to the next WNBR!
World Naked Bike Ride took off in 2004 and whilst it represents a number of worthy causes such as bike safety, body positivity and the environment, WNBR has its primary roots in raising awareness about cycling and bike safety to advocate for lessening our dependency on fossil fuels. As the event has grown and spread all across the world, people are banding together in a show of unity to also stand up for social nudity, body positivity and various other social justice issues. In essence, I suppose many are riding for a cause/s which they hold close to their heart β€οΈ
Grateful to the organisers and police for organising and giving us the opportunity to participate in such a wonderful event ππ½
If you can get to a ride in your cityβ¦I highly recommend!
Have you been to a WNBR? I'd love to know!
With love,
