Bowser and Koops [Early access, more alts in link] (Patreon)

I... I think it's done.
I overdid it with this one, admittedly. Get ready for the most Captain Obvious statement of all time in 3, 2, 1: that's my fault. The way I ordered the layers to accommodate for Koops was needlessly complicated, and retooling it to be simpler was such a daunting task I opted to just apply band-aids (I'm sorry, ADHESIVE MEDICAL STRIPS) and work around it. Did I end up wasting more time doing that in the long run than if I took the time to rework everything from the ground up so it'd be more manageable in the first place? Candy and nuts, and all that.
But, regardless of the extra time this one took, I'm VERY pleased with the results! I'm glad I decided to take a plunge and try a new method of flat shading, because I think the results are actually quite appealing! I learned a lot which I do believe I will be using again, and I know I say that a lot, but there really is a satisfaction with discovering more tools and tricks for future works.
One thing I think may have been a mistake, though, is giving Bowser a different expression for when he's talking and when he's not; that just added needless hassle to exporting all the various alts, because I had to adjust for outlines, colors, shadows, and highlights across solo, Koops, and all the different dirt versions. While I think it was worthwhile in the end, it is something I will remember in the future if I get the inkling to do it again in the context of "You SURE you wanna go through all that again?" But like I said, I made the layering needlessly complicated from the very beginning, so maybe it need not be so. But that's for another time! To other projects!
