It's dead. Short circuit, board is fried, no way to retrieve the data. Everything on it is lost.

It's not as bad as it sounds, though. Yeah, I did lose a LOT of artwork, but a good deal of it exists in one way or another. For instance, I sent a good deal of 'em at some point over Telegram as low-resolution, highly-compressed JPEGs. While they may not be high quality or up-to-date, it's a jumping point from which I can continue them so I'm not completely starting over, and I've become quite good at bring those pieces back up to par!

Sadly, a few pieces were not so lucky, and existed in no other form whatsoever. Those pieces are gone for good, and all I can do is redo them from scratch. Thankfully, those pieces are in the minority. It'll suck having to do them over again, because there were a couple that were coming along extremely well! But not an impossible task. Honestly, it's just nice to have closure, finally. This whole ordeal has been plaguing me throughout the entire holiday season, and now that I know what the exact circumstances are, I know the path forward.

As for the previous poll winner, the Gex/Spyro piece, sadly, the last WIP of it I posted here was the most up-to-date remnant of it. On the downside, it was on the cusp of completion at the time my tablet died, and that version, while full-resolution and uncompressed, doesn't have all the layers which would've made continuing from that point so much easier. But on the upside, through some ingenuity, I'm already back on track with it and am making progress on it once more! The background is going to look a little different, though, but I doubt that's gonna be a big deal.

I've already posted a couple WIPs of the stuff I did on the new tablet while waiting for the final word on my old tablet, but I have a couple more to toss up, which I'll do after this update! I'm terribly sorry for the inconvenience, everyone. Though the cause of the other tablet's death was sudden and totally out of my control (defective hardware), my neglect to back up my work was NOT outside my control, and I learned a VERY harsh lesson through it all. Learn from my mistakes! Back up everything important to you often!

Now, back to the art!
