You've come to feel like family to me, so I'm deeply honoured and grateful I get to share this journey with you. Thank you for choosing to walk by my side, with everything you've got going on I hope that what I share can help you too.
I picked up the guitar yesterday! For the first time in years! Literally dusted it off! ;-;
These last couple of days, weeks, years, honestly decades, have been tough but I know that where I am now, I am to heal. I just didn't anticipate how much it'd hurt to heal. How difficult it would be to clean the wounds, face the pain and listen to the cries of my body.
Memories from several years ago have been able to surface. Some very vividly in my mind, some simply left as a footprint on my skin.
I try to be patient and do my best to listen but it seems I don't have enough hours in the day to balance this process, with what I "should" do. Clearly many of us create very unrealistic ideas of what we should do and who we should be.
This leads me to a helpful video I came across. Nick Keomahavong who made this video has created one of my favourite places to come for guidance. In this video he talks about a key reason why so many people suffer: we don't live in alignment with our true nature.
So I started to meditate on this and it became clear how I have indeed neglected my true nature. It's wonderful to realise where I am now and the choices I make today is in fact me reclaiming this.
The more quiet, slower and cosier streams we now have is in alignment with my love for stillness and the "quiet person with a lot to share", I am at my core. I never want to shout at people to listen, I want them to choose to and I want to offer tools and guidance that will make them strong as an individual (and in relation to others.)
This is also why I long to make wellness content.
My love for animals, nature, the ocean. This is why living in this beautiful place taking time out of my day to dip my feet in the water means a lot. Why saving up for a dog and eventually a horse, is so important to me. It's part of my true nature. It's how I live to feel fulfilled. And I truly believe it's about living a fulfilling life over a happy life.
Another cornerstone to my true nature is being an artist! To create! To sing, write, paint, play theatre, enjoy music and dance. I've lost all of these!
I'm trying to make it a habit to not just do all the time, but instead create that same pause that exists naturally between the exhale and the inhale, in my day to day life. So I sat down on my bed yesterday; asked myself what I really wanted to do right then...
Sing!
I wanted to sing, play the guitar! Write a song!
and so I did.
It was quite frankly magical. It felt like connecting to a lost part of myself. A vulnerable and lonely side that is still waiting to be listened to more.
I want to share the first page of the song with you, and after that a little in progress recording I did on my phone. But, this is enough for tonight.
This is the start. In the process of letting go I'm also allowing myself to actually start.
I'd love to hear what your true nature is? It's completely understandable to feel disconnected from it right now, but this is a truth you hold within and so you absolutely can access it. Sometimes we just have to practice to listen (which is what I'm doing now).I haven't watched this one yet, but perhaps it can help you if you feel lost. Else ask yourself; what makes you feel alive? What makes you feel comfortable? at ease? in your right element? What do you love? What did you love as a child?
I wish you a wonderful rest of your week and a very joyful - true to yourself - weekend! All the love, ~ Joy
