What does Tim think of the 14900KS for non-cache limited games like STALKER? They only care about one thing and that's 1T performance and clock speed.

BaconHouse Collective

Hey Tom and Tim. Tie into the PSSR discussion what it would take for Tim to recommend a AMD graphics card in the mid and upper mid tier range over the next few generations. HUB is typically starkly opposed to Radeon's value proposition.

Hey Tom and Tim, 240hz OLED monitors feel like they’re the holy grail, is there anything possibly better?

How would RDNA 4 affect the GPU market if the cards had half to identical raytracing uplift as the PS5 Pro versus RDNA 3?

Kinihun25

Hey Tom and Tim, the recent leak of the PS5 Pro really got me excited for upcoming console even for upcoming AMD graphics cards. I think we have hit a point where most gamers aren't interested in higher resolution and high FPS (200+). To see the PS5 Pro is able to probably 4x ray tracing performance at a small cost is what I think gamers want. I know gamers say they aren't interested in ray tracing performance but I feel they say that because it cost too much in raster performance but if there is a way to keep high raster with great ray tracing performance at such a low price. I feel this would sell the PS5 Pro more than a 8k60fps or a 1440p 240fps would. What are you thoughts?.

I am extremely intrigued to invest in the smallest Samsung 8K TV sets (QN700C - 55") and use as a wall-mounted monitor primarily for work and productivity. I would drive it in either four 4K120 segments when connected to all of its inputs, as one 4K120 display when gaming or as one 8k60panel for those games that can tolerate the latency (with lots of dlss/fsr). I think I'll be able to tolerate some lost FOV at the edges if I gain so much screen real estate. Or It can even allow for some fun splitscreen gaming if the buddies take their laptops? What would be the pitfalls, am I missing something?

With the first 480hz OLED coming this year. How many more generations of hardware will we see before we can fill that 480hz in a more consistent manner? Will it be mostly a CPU or a GPU solution do you think? I'm going to be an early adopter of that monitor and want to know what you guys think of the pipe dream I'm pursuing.

Perseus

Hi. I was thinking about your leak especially the pssr part. Is amd currently working on a similar technology for "fsr4" or can they even use some of the technology of pssr on fsr?

(Wonder bread) Hey Tom and Tim. What are your thoughts on display stream compression? With the Aorus FO32U2P being the only 4k 240hz QD-OLED offering display port 2.1 UHBR 20, every other monitor using this panel will have to use display stream compression to reach the 4k 240hz spec. I've read everything from DSC being "visually lossless" to "extremely noticeable and blurry" but I haven't been able to find any objective testing of DSC. I also realize no current consumer gpu offers display port 2.1 UHBR 20, but I think a top tier monitor like this should last thru multiple gpu generations. How much should this weigh on our purchasing decision?

Hello, Tim-Tom! Since Tim is the monitor enthusiast at HUB, I wanted to ask him on his opinion of why monitors come with either no audio or absolute crap, but a TV the same size can come with good 10-15W speakers. Why does no one see a market for a monitor with good speakers and no TV tuner and smart-TV crap?

Ian Clifford

Hi Tim & Tom! I have a 38” 3840x1600 IPS 75Hz monitor and am looking going OLED, does Tim think a 42” LG C3 WOLED would be a good replacement or wait for the newer 45” panels coming out will be worth waiting for? Primarily for office work and Flight Simulator and single player gaming?

QuickJumper

Hello Tim and Tom. This is more speculative question but how is AMD supposed to now compete with Nvidia? Nvidia has now so much funds that it seems they will just be able to outspend AMD easily in GPU segment. Maybe that's why this year AMD focuses much more on CPU releases in Q3.

10GHz Netburst

Now that we are seeing a greater variety of form factors from OLED monitors, aside from the mediocre brightness/APL, what do you think are the biggest points for improvement as far as OLEDs go?

10GHz Netburst

I've felt for quite a while that temporal AA and supersampling has caused a pretty drastic reduction in visual fidelity in games recently, and to my surprise Tim recently mentioned something similar on the HUB podcast. Do you think this is something that is flying under the radar, and do you expect gamers and reviewers to push back on it at all in the coming years?

Don Cointin

Love the HUB guys, been following them since about 2017

Snarfnado

Regarding the future of AMD cpus/gpus. Do you think they could use some sort of AI based performance enhancements that are built into the NPUs of their chips to further leverage the performance of an all AMD system similar to SAM?

Athena Azuraea

With a TV this big, you will have to put some distance between it and yourself, unlike traditional computer displays where the display can be within half a meter's distance. Therefore, going 8k isn't going to gain you much. You would be heavily using display scaling anyway, wasting the 8k pixels. Plus trying to drive 8k resolution from games would be incredibly difficult. At most, I would say a 4K120 TV should be what you should go for. I feel like there is a big difference myself between 60 and 120 Hz when it comes to productivity (mouse lag), but have been unable to notice a difference between 60 and 60+ FPS when it comes to gaming. So I think that would be the tradeoffs. Price. Oh, and no Displayport.

GemuNeen

Hi Tim and Tom, what do you feel is the likelihood of a paper launch from Intel for Arrowlake and how might it negatively impact Intel's future CPUs, including Lunar Lake laptops?

Chris Rijk

Since almost everyone is bashing the 14900KS, I thought I’d instead bash the thinking behind it and ask what the heck was Intel smoking!? Perhaps it’s more to try to convince themselves that they’re still relevant in the DIY market?

Chris Rijk

Intel and Nvidia are going to use TSMC 3nm for their next-gen consumer products starting later this year. In a similar timeframe, AMD is going to stick to 4nm for their consumer products which is slower and less power efficient, but cheaper. Did AMD make the right choice? Do you think the market would have been more receptive to a faster and more power efficient Zen 5 at a premium price for example? Would you say the same for RDNA 4?

Chris Rijk

Hi Tim, with regards to GPU reviews, do you think it would be practical to provide guidance on the potential longevity of a particular GPU based on its VRAM capacity or would it be too subjective and depend too much on the games being played, the settings and resolution?

Gergely

Price: I'm comparing pixel/$ prices and there TVs will win hands down (by a factor of 2-4x) vs. similar high-end very high resolution monitors Distance: I'm willing to sit near the TV and effectively waste part of my field of view or turn my head a little when using different segments of the screen. In fact, I have to do pretty much the exact same thing now, as I shift my attention from the laptop screen to the external monitor. These are not drawbacks I haven't considered and tested and found to be manageable (on a 4K/65" LG OLED at home (that I can only drive via HDMI @ 60Hz). I was more thinking about image quality, colour shifthing due to viewing angle etc. where the recent Samsung 8K QLED Mini Leds probably behave differently to either a monitor or OLED TV.

Hello, a little late. I was wondering : - is Ray tracing overhyped? In most games, the visual quality is really better and it kills your frame rate. And in Alan wake 2, it strangely grainier than the raster version - Is seems than Amdto be treated harsher than Nvidia and Intel in graphic department. Intel seems to have a pass because we want a third competitor. In most recommandation, amd need to be faster and cheaper me. Fsr had a bad reputation even it is pretty much the same as dlss. And when you look at the coverage of amd feature, there is some major difference: you can easily find video for ray reconstruction and almost none for frame generation. At this time, for example, gamer nexus do not have a video on Fsr 3 or frame gen. So what amd need to do to change that perception of a cheaper less option less powerful graphic card? Is raster does not count anymore?

Curious if you have any thoughts/additonal info on Keplar's comments about the PS5 Pro using BVH8 for RT which is RDNA4; also is 10% I crease in CPU clocks a sufficient uplift for currently CPU bottlenecked titles
