Since upscaling will be handled by DirectSR in the future and AMD doesn’t have to keep FSR as open to get devs to use the bloody thing, do you think they might try to give FSR some extra features/support specifically for AMD cards? Up to now they had to keep it pretty open or nobody would have bothered to implement it.

With Steamdeck proving that Linux can be a viable gaming platform if you put in the work, do you see a chance of Nvidia improving their Linux driver situation to be a viable option for PC handhelds, especially with their rumored Mediatek chip? Or will they tie themselves to the millstone that is Windows without a mouse & keyboard?

Hey Fabio! How much do you think AMD's lack of an AI/ML temporal upscaler hurts the Radeon brand? Do you think if RDNA 3 had launched with one, it would have been a more successful generation for Radeon? Also, personally, how happy are you with the current state of FSR? Do you play games with it, or do you find yourself preferring DLSS/XeSS? Cheers! -ShredBird

Do you have any information on Intels plans for Arc? Will it just be a money-eating black hole until some ill defined future when the drivers will be good and they can start releasing products worth having?

With RDNA4, AMD changed tack from a presumably chiplet capable Navi 41 to a Navi 48 die. What’s the chance AMD are holding an ace up their sleeve? Apple released the M1 Max without revealing the ultra fusion 2.5 TB/s interconnect that later enabled the M1 Ultra. Recently nVidia shared that Blackwell will have 10 TB/s interconnect to allow two dies to act as one. What if AMD pivoted from an underperforming ‘chiplet’ design of N31 & N41 to a 2-4 die ‘fusion’ design in Navi 48 that can also run as a solo chip? They could run single die (aka Max), two die (aka Ultra) or 4 dies (Extreme??).

Do you think the ai upscaling of fsr4 would still be compatible with rdna3?

QuickJumper

Is GPU market and gaming overall going into new era with AI, raytracing and upscaling tech? Maybe the raster will quickly become irrelevant as the whole graphics pipeline changes.

GinTech

Has there been any word on a Steam Deck 2 APU? Do you think Valve will use a custom APU again (maybe using RDNA4 or 5?) or use an "off the shelf" chip now that AMD's APUs use more recent graphics architectures

Welcome Fabio! My question to you is: in testing out FSR 3.1, did you notice any serious performance improvements with RDNA 2, RDNA, Ampere or Tiring cards whether Frame Gen was on or off? I was finding with my (Ultra Rare) Sapphire Pulse RX 6500 XT 8GB, that at least in Ratchet and Clank, I could turn Frame Gen on and the pacing was better by almost 15ms compared to FSR 3.0. Just wanted your thoughts on previous generations of GPU and the their behavior on FSR 3.1

There's a huge sentiment difference between AMD & Nvidia on the features front. How far do you think AMD needs to improve to be "good enough" where the comparison is just on raster/vram/ray tracing performance?

KarbinCry

Since XeSS seems to run well on RDNA cards, is the common assumption that ML-based FSR would not be available for older AMD cards without matrix (tensor) cores wrong?

Dig Wiggler

Hey BoM cost Tom and FaBio. Do you think we will see a reconvergence of Amd's CDNA with their desktop cards, similar to Nvidia? I would think this makes sense once Amd decides to start using ML algorithms for FSR, etc

Dig Wiggler

Do you think AM5 could use a 32 core, Zen c chip as a sort of budget threadripper replacement? Probably less useful than just a 8 core with 16 c cores, but a niche is a niche

Nvidia's current flagship card, the RTX 4090, easily handles pretty much any game you can throw at it in 4K with cranked up settings. The RTX 5090 is set to improve upon that performance significantly, but will most people notice the jump outside of benchmarks? What upcoming games and software do you think will really demonstrate the capabilities of next generation hardware?

Woody Chang

Hi Fabio, I wonder what you think RDNA4's goal should be to qualify as at least holding their own against nVidia. For instance, smaller hit to performance when using ray tracing or 15-20% more raster performance in the same price tier? I guess time will tell if not competing at the super high-end next generation will be an okay move for AMD. Seemed to work for RDNA1 after all.

When just playing games normally, how noticeable are the differences between the latest versions of DLSS, FSR and XeSS during typical gameplay?

Nicolas Terroir

Hello Fabio and Tom, A lot of reviewer are saying that Radeon should be priced lower than Nvidia because Radeon is lacking in feature. But FSR and ray tracing are there and the adrenalin software is much better. I can even some feature missing on Nvidia ( Virtual Super resolution or AMD Fluid Motion Frames). So which one is missing and is hurting AMD?

Nicolas Terroir

I was wondering about ray tracing in games. I was not visual impressed by that feature in Alan Wake 2: it was very noisy on most reflective surface and the difference was minimal with the raster version in the rest of the game. But lately, I cannot find the feature in new title, like Hellblade 2, Banisher Helldivers 2 or other. With the lack of support in games in 2024, is ray tracing really going to be a must have or a gimmick in the future?

Chris Rijk

All current GPU upscalers take similar inputs. Given those inputs, how close do you feel the current upscalers are to the limits of what’s possible in terms of image quality? Are you aware of any alternative upscaling techniques that use different inputs that could potentially improve image quality even further or are simpler for developers to implement? PS To be clear, I’m only talking about standard upscaling, not frame generation or ray reconstruction.

Swiggles

Hey guys, with the introduction of accelerators becoming a need for certain tasks to not suck do you think we will get cpu oriented gaming accelerators to increase fps any time soon.

Nicolas Terroir

I watched some comparaison about FSR 3.1 and DLSS. In most case, the conclusion is that FSR is not as great as DLSS. But in most of those video, the difference between the technologies are so small that you have to zoom in and slowdown the video . And in the steam deck which you have to use FSR, I cannot find complain about using FSR. Is paying a prenium for DLSS is really justified other FSR?

Nicolas Terroir

Should AMD do more feature exclusive like Nvidia for there new RDNA 4 cards or should they stick to a more open approach?

AnotherChris

They should 100% stick with an open approach, look at free sync, huge success, do that again it’s lighting in a bottle

Nicolas Terroir

For RDNA 4, should AMD put at least 16GB on all the cards?

Nicolas Terroir

What kind of memory NVIDIA going to use on the lower ends backwell cards? GDDR7 or 6?

JR

You don’t need to blow up and slow down the video. The quality gap between the two is very apparent while playing normally. The video is zoomed and speed decreased merely to underscore the differences in a more objective way. So the viewer and host are both looking at the same thing while the quality differences on screen are being described. If image- and motion quality matter, then a GPU that only supports FSR is indeed worth less money.

Nicolas Terroir

I can argue that AMD is offering better support for all of there cards. Could you said if DLSS 4 is going to be supported on all RTX cards? And with the open source approach, Amd should argue that new features can be easily add to every supported device.

Do AMD X3D variants make other 8 and 12 core models "bad purchases"? With Zen 5 supposedly releasing this month, I fail to see any reason for someone to buy the 9700x or 9900x. If they need multicore, buy the 9950X… budget? 9600x or probably 7600… gaming? wait for 9800X3D… mixed workloads? 9950X3D or 9900X3D when it inevitably goes on sale. I don’t see why AMD continues to sell the 8 core variants without X3D, even at rock bottom sale the 7700X only really was $50-75 cheaper than the X3D at microcenter.

Will FSR 3.2 be good enough?
