Hello Tosh. Hope this finds you guys well. Panther Lake has been a pleasant surprise. This is a two parter. What do you guys expect out of the Qualcomm camp with X2 Elite? And Is the AMDs only strategy against current mobile offerings to drop prices and be aggressive with supply till Zen 6? Would a v-cache Strix Point/Gorgon Point (if that's possible) be able to bring up efficiency to Panther Lake levels?

CompressedAIBlocks

If Zen 6 can achieve Panther Lake/M5 like efficiency do you think battery life selling points are effectively dead if people can get 16 hours of actual usage out of them?

CompressedAIBlocks

How badly do we expect the laptop market to be hit by the DRAM shortages? Will it be just higher prices across the board or simply unable to purchase things? Will this effect the impact of Panther Lake?

CompressedAIBlocks

Kind of a crystal ball question here but do you think Intel's success with Panther Lake will translate them holding onto mobile market share? I believe Tom mentioned they're at approximately 60% and Apple is at 20% and AMD is at 20%. Will their slow bleed out continue based off their deflating mindshare? We saw Alder Lake quite literally crush Zen 3 in almost every metric but that didn't translate into a wave of Intel buyers.

Hi Tom and Josh. Big fan of both your channels. My question is, how much of the terrible laptop experience is down to other factors that aren't the fault of OEMs or chip manufacturers? I think Microsoft with Windows and Nvidia with their 8gb mobile gpus significantly worsen the experience for otherwise very impressive and well designed laptops. This goes very under-discussed imo. Also, I purchased a Legion 5 last year on your recommendation, I love it and thank you for your videos.

Hello Josh and Tom. How much cheaper would an hx470 machine need to be vs a 358H machine for you to recommend the hx470? Assuming the same chassis, screen etc. Thanks.

Hi Josh, how do you see the different SKUs of Pather Lake in terms of segmentation? The cutdown versions, in terms of the igpu, in panther lake are substantial. Is this a situation like the newest rtx generation where there is a halo product (5090) for reviewers/good press and the rest is a big drop off?

Hi Josh and Tom, what chances do you see for Nvidias N1X entering consumer devices at this point? With Intel and AMD both offering compelling APUs now, I feel like their moment has come and gone. Will they give it another shot with a hypothetical N2X, can they sort out those drivers, is all of this just beneath them?

Hi Tom and Josh. Thoughs if you would use an ARM chip laptop/desktop these days? Also interested if you have done any Linux testing on laptops? How do they fare with MacOS and Windows in performance per watt optimizations?

Billy Mays

Hello Josh and Tom. Tom, you have stated that you believe intel chips with the b390 have essentially made the 5050 and anything below irrelevant for thin and light machines. I’m wondering if Josh feels similar ,especially now that intel seems more stable than the 50 series. Thanks.

Hi Tom and Josh. As successful small business owners, how much more successful would these companies be if they cut their marketing departments by 90%? The 2026 worst name awards video was hilarious. I can only conclude that the job of these marketing departments is not to advertise to consumers, but to investors.

Deuce Niner

Hi Tom and Josh, How aware do you think a typical consumer in 2026 is of the differences between Intel v. AMD, Panther Lake v. Lunar Lake, etc.?

Nicolas Terroir

Hello Tom and Josh, with panther lake being so good, will Intel regain market share in laptop ? Does AMD miss an opportunity to be the dominant player ?

KarbinCry

What is the ETA on Medusa Halo Mini? When is AMD planning to launch it?

Nicolas Terroir

Panther lake seems to be very efficient. Does Qualcomm and Nvidia next Apu dead on arrival ? Did Intel prove that X86 could be as efficient as ARM ?

KarbinCry

A lot has been said about the 12 Xe core Panther Lake. What do the two of you think about the CPU version of Panther?

AI-Soldier789

Hello Tom and Josh with Intel 18 A being a good Note all thinks considered will there be Arm based APUs from Qualcomm or Mediatek for Laptops build on that or is it to expensive for budget focused products. Best regards

KarbinCry

Ice Lake was the low power, niche breakthrough. Tiger Lake was the highly competitive laptop all-rounder. Alder Lake was the return to pure CPU competitiveness. Lunar Lake. Panther Lake. Nova Lake???

KarbinCry

Does efficiency of Medusa products matter if AMD continues not enforcing real Windows power plans? X Elite was first that had real power saving plans, Lunar and Panther are coming out with similar optimised battery profiles. Yet AMD ignores this, content with fake power saving modes that barely save power!

Hi Tom and Josh, if the Intel GPU driver situation is much better now, do you have any insight as to what changed between a few years ago and now for this to happen?

MelodicArmor

Welcome back Josh! Pleasure to have you on! In a recent video with Intel you had pointed out a lot of the issue with product naming on laptops in particular. I share a lot of the same sentiment in the retail space. I cannot begin to tell how the naming scheme from all companies confuses the daylights out of my customers. We have even submitted feedback to reps and the various companies themselves. Yet this trend continues. Do you think that it largely is an issue of these marketing arms just not connecting or trying to speak to the wrong audiences?

Dark Side of the Force

As all the laptops are approaching macbook's battery run time and efficiency... Do you think Windows is the last frontier? As in Windows is the last garbo we need to get fixed (or rid of) to truly arrive at laptop nirvana? Also do you test laptop sometimes with "clean" windows install just to see if it's Windows, drivers or some OEM customization that mess up an otherwise should be excelent laptop? Would love to see your thoughts on that.

Woody Chang

Hi Tom and Josh, Hardware Canucks made a video a few months ago wondering why laptop designs seemed often more outdated with AMD vs Intel laptops when comparing laptops fro. The same vendor. Do you think this is still the case? Why is or isn't it the case?

Jihad ROUANI

Josh at CES was grinding Intel over the naming of the products, did he get the chance to deliver the same message to AMD which is easily worse with their "Ryzen AI Max Plus...." ? They should stop calling their products "AI", they have an NPU there with non-existent software support so it's basically an IP block collecting dust and wasting die area for nothing, hardly worth a major brand definition..... Even Nvidia which is pushing AI everywhere is not naming their GPUs "RTX AI Max Plus 5090" despite them having must stronger Tensor cores and very mature software (CUDA) supported everywhere, down to your local video editing tools.

My first ever gaming laptop is the Asus Tuf Dash F15 (12650H and RTX3070M) used for driving VR on A Quest. I hate it. the battery draines when SHUT DOWN. The graphics driver was not updated for a year until i could install the generic Nvidia driver. Is panther lake or strix halo ready to replace this machine with a better with at least the same performance and less hassle?

Damien Ironboot

Hi Tom and Josh. Hope you are doing well. I have a question about the previous leaks from Tom about the the Zen 6 mobile APUs. What is stopping AMD from using Medusa Point chip (which as was reported has 4 Zen6+4 Zen6c+2 Zen6LP cores in it) as a IOD for desktop CPUs and thus creating 32 (if they disable the 2 LP cores) or even 34 core desktop configuration with 2x12 Zen6 chiplets? That is of course if we presume they've included the needed connections in the chip to connect to 2 CCDs. AMD is already using "preferred cores" to designate which of the cores can clock higher so it should not be a that big of problem for scheduling if there is some discrepancy in clocks between N3 IOD and N2 CCD for Zen6 cores.

MooresLawIsDead

The MDS-P IOD only supports a single CCD. However yes - they could probably put just the IOD and also probably MDS-Halo Mini on AM5 :). (But again, as APUs, not with 34 cores)

AI Generated Fish

As the resident laptop black piller, tell me why I'm wrong: 2026 will bring virtually no increased CPU or GPU performance in laptop but that performance will cost more money i.e. consumer value regression.

MooresLawIsDead

If PTL doesn't make you think this year is at least equally interesting to last year in laptops - you'll never be happy lol. Not to mention we could see Gorgon Halo, N1X, and early Zen 6 stuff. You are never. Happy.
