Early Tuesday (7/28) I will be recording an episode of Broken Silicon with NX Gamer.  I would say he is basically a one-man digital foundry:

 https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7Jo0VTzeyYbZ8cVk3k-EhA

We will be heavily discussing the next gen consoles, previous gens, and upcoming GPU launches.  If there are subjects, questions, or comments you would like us to address - put them below!

Make your telegrams thoughtful, interesting, and written with good grammar.  We may select yours!

What are the next gen features coming to GPU's after rdna2 and ampere? Will Ray tracing remain the focus or do you see other features being explored in the next few generations?

Julian Vito

If Sony and Microsoft knew they could sell consoles for the price of a mid to high end PC, what would that console look like?

Jake Martin

Do you guys think that, since we are seeing more leaks from Nvidia about ampere, Nvidia is not Confident in their new product? Or do you think they are just being overly cautious because they lost TSMC for 7nm? Also when do you think RDNA 2 will release this fall?

Brian Steiner

Will the 4000 Ryzen APU's be available to DIY market soon? If they will be,.will there be any major differences? How would the 4700G compare to CPU's in new consoles?

pyroxide

Do you think a 1080 Ti will hold its resale value well enough for sale before an Ampere refresh?

Ankith

What happened to the mic drop moments that were supposed to be there for the xbox series x showcase

Cleansweep

With RDNA 2 and Ampere running different methods of raytracing, how bad do you think things will be for benchmarking both architectures against each other? Between drivers, game optimizations, and having to pick games/software for standardized testing, it seems like a recipe for chaos in the next few months for people testing new GPUs.

pyroxide

If HBM2 gets cheap enough to put on more GPUs, do you think that we will have more short PCBs that can have much better cooling potential (as well as SFF appeal) with the same cooler? or do you think that the space is just going to be filled up with NAND in the future?

Stephen Wheeler

Is there any chance that mouse/KB support for PS5 will start to become more standard as alternative input from some developers? E.g ps4 COD mouse and keyboard. I would like to see games like GTA5 and Red Dead 2 support mouse and keyboard as i was brought up on it and controller is hard :(

Jeremy Lamb

Is there any reason for someone with a high end PC to get an Xbox? It seems like as you've stated Microsoft is moving more towards creating an ecosystem rath er then fighting the console hardware war. Not to say the Xbox isn't powerful but it appears basically all of its games will be on PC.

Jack Peterson

Yes, especially if people don't care about RT, solid 1440p card..

Dr Forbin

I know there is no future proofing however with upcoming hardware from Nvidia and AMD (GPU's). What would you buy to get keep you state of the art for two years and at least run games well for a period of time on PC? Is 16 core 32 thread processing going to be a thing for gamers down the road?

Janan Clowes

Is there any chance the XBOX Series S could be a mobile device, or hybrid mobile device (a la Nintendo Switch)? A cut down, low powered APU could definitely run an 8" 720p screen at 60Hz, or maybe even a 1080p one. The way they are talking about their games using the best version for each device makes me think that they are thinking people could own multiple devices, beyond just console + PC.

Dominik Koc

You prefaced your question with the correct answer. Nothing. Supposedly a year after ampere and rdna2, hopper and rdna3 will be out with likely much more benefits then what we're expecting with rdna2/ampere. When it comes to cpu's... cores aren't the whole story. The new consoles for example, have Co-processors that have functionality of several extra cores. A 3950x might be great for gaming for the next 2 years, but once consoles fully utilize 8c16t and the audio and decompression functionalities... gaming might be the only thing you're able to do at any given time on your pc. Similar story with gpu's. Maybe next gen (rdna3 and hopper) give us DOUBLE rasterization and another 3-5X RT performance bump. With competition restored... future proofing, like moores law... is dead.

Dr Forbin

I currently have a RX580x so upgrading it was a concern of mine, though RX580x has aged well for older games and some current some run at poor frame rates. For me smooth is a thing, i don't competitively game cause im an old guy but if i did or had friends over its nice to have better hardware, I just dont want to pay a mortgage payment for a GPU thats dead on arrival in 6 months.

Ian Clifford

I would like to ask for his views on the upcoming Flight Simulator 2020 and especially the specs required to run the game on a multi-monitor setup?

Arda Er***

Is there any way that the seemingly hybrid method of RT that AMD is alleged to use will be competitive with the RT performance boost we're about to see from Ampere? Is it any likely that they will enable RT for older cards as a novelty choice as well?

Asim

Here's a question that's been on my mind for a while: Will the next gen consoles reduce prices of NVME SSDs and increase the amount of per tier performance of GPUs?

Dominik Koc

Um... we're not taking about nexus Steve...

My first request, although I know that means jack shit as to if it gets discussed or if it is even wasting breath on! You are even interviewing a fellow Brit on your channel as well for this episode! The more I watch / listen to NX Gamer, the more I see the principles of his decision of why he came into the YouTube sphere and into the World of Tech and what you have said in regards to yourself Tom on the MLID website and what drove you into Tech on YouTube… With this premise in mind, can you please have a good, honest, frank and typical no bullshit discussion on the current condition / state of Tech journalism or call it investigative tech or call it complex leaks, although unlike many others, much to your credit, you do not just go here, have this info… You weigh it up (Dan included of course), try to maintain a balanced non biased position for and against the huge majority of points you are making with leaving enough room for peoples own ideas, thoughts and perspective to add into the mix. Although it are your views that are of main interest, I ask as I am extremely disappointed, frustrated, at times seriously pissed off with the HUGE majority of Tech Tubers when info / leaks from the likes of yourself are not even referenced and the general rinse and repeat the latest leaks that occur. Content takes time, energy, resources and creativity which all have demands on you. For that to be just cut and pasted without acknowledgement as a MINIMUM really fucks me off. I have many ‘moore’ questions but this one is pretty much at the top. Big thanks to all of you that bring us the content on MLID. Cheers 😊

NX Gamer: In your video about Xbox Series S holding back next-gen games and decided it does not, but what about the Xbox One S of which they will continue to support? Also is this a move by Microsoft to keep the majority of games optimized for the lowest common denominator of systems, which means even though PS5 has I/O benefits and some other key benefits for gaming, that most games will never take use, and keep games on the Xbox Series X on par with PS5.

Vipast

NX Gamer: What is your take on VR and the support or lack of support on the next generation of consoles mean as far where the industry is going for the consumer market?

Vipast

I would like to add to this question, by asking what he thinks about the pricing structure and the cost? I wouldn't really consider this a game as fully functional low-cost simulator software. If you get VR and a product such as YAWVR, and Hotas setup, you could really be in a fully immersive simulator.

Vipast

Why is the drag racing of performance so important to people when it comes to consoles rather than content, aesthetics, ease of use, and functionality (Extra benefits beyond gaming)?

Ian Clifford

I don’t think VR will be available at launch but it’s meant to be as simple or complicated as you want it to be!

Dominik Koc

Sir... in you're case, a mid+ tier gpu will be a massive upgrade. I'd say something around the 3070 or 3080 or amd equivalent (based on performance) should keep you happy for a solid 2-3 years.
