Kait had trained for this for... well, months, but she had been amongst the top swordswomen in her recruitment pool! Surely that must count for something; her confidence wavered momentarily, but still she charged. Her training had assured her that offense was the best defense, and today would be no exception!

She would see the Black Knight dead at her feet before this was over, no matter what!

Kait's sword clanged uselessly against the knight's shield, but the young heroine had a plan. She would draw the knight's counter-attack, forcing the bitch to twist her body as she swung the heavier, clumsier, blade she wielded. And when she twisted? The shield would twist with it. Kait would skewer the belly of the beast in the opening that would surely offer her! Her opponent's shield and bulkier blade would be turned to her fatal disadvantage!

The girl could only smugly grin as she pulled her arm back, still tingling from the impact of metal on metal, ready to counter the bitch's counterattack... only to be lifted onto her tiptoes by the heavy crush of the Black Knight's shield colliding with her chin. Stars exploded in front of her eyes, a million lights zipping hither and back behind her sightless eyes. Kait's jaw dropped, and she was dimly aware of staring up at the sky--dumbstruck by the beauty of it, or perhaps just dumbstruck in general--before she was stumbling back.

The girl's armoured boots clicked against the stone beneath her as she tried to gather her senses. The numbness in her jaw gave way to hot pain, and it served to right her senses only insofar as she could focus on that. Had her jaw been fractured? Had any teeth come out!? Petty problems plagued her reeling thoughts. It was only when the heavy weight of the Black Knight's shield came to bear against her, pushing her violently towards the yawning drop outside of the long-decayed window. All of her strength, and what little focus she had, found itself in desperate struggle against the threat crushing down on her.

She... just had... to... hold out... Lina would...

More pain. This time instead of hot, it was cold. Like liquid metal flowing into her gut. But it wasn't liquid at all, and it was certainly not flowing. The Black Knight's blade slid easily into the outmatched girl's belly, drawing first a look of shock from the smaller raven-haired do-gooder, then a shriek of pain, and fear, and... something else, something primal and needy. Something submissive...

The girl's body jerked and spasmed, impaled on the evil knight's blade. She didn't leave her on the hook for long. The blade slid deep, almost pushing the whole way through the girl's lean body before the Black Knight ripped it free. The force of the retraction drew Kait along with it, forcing the girl into a lurching, unbalanced stumble forward. The victorious villain stepped back with a laugh, "Impudent." The word itself was as much a sneer as the one fluttering across the Black Knight's features, the contempt for the easily dispatched knightess clear.

Kait's ears could only hear the pounding of her own heart, however. Her belly was on fire, and no matter how hard she pressed on the wound with her hand, blood continued to seep from beneath it. She tried to hold herself steady. She was vulnerable. She just needed to... focus... the girl's eyes drifted to her empty swordhand. Where had it gone? She shouldn't have dropped that...

And while she wondered this, she teetered above the ravenous maw that had devoured her sister-knight only a moment earlier... waiting...

Too bad the stairs are too narrow for Lina to fight alongside Kait, but that just means Lina has to wait a bit longer before her bloody corpse feeds that Sarlaac ahh monster.

Lina's probably still a little shaken up from watching the first girl disappear down that slobbery gullet
