It's time for another Listeners Choice! To tie the options in a nice little bow (and to give previous contenders a respite), we're offering up screenplay nominees! Get loud in the comments and rally your fellow Garys around your favorite title! The poll will be live for exactly one week!

Braden Poapst

Look all of these movies are great in their own right but the only one of these screenplay nominees that probably should have won is My Big Fat Greek Wedding, and I think that’s why it should be the August episode.

Chauncey Telese

Not a loser in the bunch because they'd all be really fun. I voted Moonrise but I'm happy with whomever.

Melissa

Oooh, what a choice! Went with Election since that had a couple of recent mentions as a possible Exception topic. But would really be happy with any!

Benji Black

Tough choice. All great films or at least all fun films to talk about.

J Kyle Wilsor

I’m super interested in all of the possible conversations presented…least excited about more MBFGW talk in the world, unless at least one of you is net neg on it. That said, Moonrise Kingdom or Knives Out would be a lot of fun!

Eliseo

I feel like Knives Out would be the most interesting conversation especially since they could tie in the sequel.

natalie

PAUL FOR PRESIDENT. PROMISE. PROGRESS. PEANUT

David Upton

Children of Men remains a masterpiece, so, that.

Chris Sullivan

❤️❤️❤️ cuaron and I don't think there's ever been any significant discussion of him on thob, so children of men gets my vote

David

Children of Men has a chilling screenplay that was masterfully turned into an amazing film!

Keegon

Election! To get our mind off the upcoming one 😵‍💫

Thales

Let's go Children of Men! (I really don't care for the Knives Out franchise)

Cyrano

By August I’m guessing I’ll mostly be interested in things that distract me from the world. The only one of these I haven’t seen is Children of Men, and Cuarón is a big void in my cinema knowledge base, so I’d be thrilled by a discussion of him/that film. As others have said though, Knives Out would be incredibly fun!

Ashley L

I really want to revisit children of men, but what a stellar line up. Maybe eventually in the long arc of history they can all be covered 👀

Stephanie Radcliffe

I adore Children of Men but it got 3 nominations in top of the line categories, so it was hardly ignored even if it deserved more. Whereas Knives Out should have made it for art direction and editing, not to mention some acting nods.

German Munoz

Spoilt for choice! Love it! (And Election is the only correct answer...) 😜

TrotBK

So many good options! Would love to hear an ep on Children of Men, but just as happy to listen to a Knives Out discussion.

Garrietta

Children of men was so good, haven’t seen it in over a decade.

Eurocheese

All great choices. Hope whatever doesn't make it is in rotation for a future exception.

Hannah W

If y’all don’t pick Knives Out, I think I’ll cry. (Could possibly be comforted with My Big Fat Greek Wedding)

cominguprozes

First time comment — all good choices but if you were to go in blind and say which movie you were shocked only got a screenplay nod, its Children of Men. The camerawork, the production design, Cuaron cashing in his Harry Potter cache, Clive Owen’s specific moment in the 2000s film landscape — also, look around at the world. Movie’s depressingly and consistently always relevant.

Jason J

All are good (Children of Men was my initial gut reaction), but I am picking Election since it's the 25th anniversary of the movie/the alleged best year in film ever, and that would be a timely discussion.

Joel Cunningham

I voted for Knives Out but would also dig MBFGW or Election. Please no on Children of Men, great film but I'm already so depressed and anxious

anth.

my strategy is vote for whichever i think gets us closest to a six-timers club game (will Patreon eps count towards the six-timers club though??)

Scott Sheldon

I saw Children of Men in the theater. Such a shame this Cuaron gem wasn’t appreciated fullly at the time.

Brit

I want the discussion on Chris Evans’s iconic sweater in Knives Out.

Mike Jenkins

Spoiled for good choices here!

Arianna G

My Big Fat Greek Wedding hive needs to rise! I want a conversation around the talent of Andrea Martin!!!

aladsto

So difficult!! I’ve voted for Election for no real reason, I think all of them are worth a discussion…

Jason Feffer

Can I write in The Birdcage? The Birdcage is the definition of a THOB Exception!

Faith Hicks

Children of Men!!!! One of my absolute favourite movies, would love to hear my fave podcast’s take on it (unless you hate it lol).

Can confirm that there is currently TWO VOTES separating the top two films...

Ilario

Not gonna be a revelatory comment in any way but dear lord is this impossible to choose.

Marie

I saw Knives Out 5 times in theaters, please do this for me (I used to work next door to an AMC so i just went after work constantly)

John Ananias

Here was my dumb thought process: 𝐶ℎ𝑖𝑙𝑑𝑟𝑒𝑛 𝑜𝑓 𝑀𝑒𝑛 received 3 nominations and may very well have been second-place in 2 of those categories, so it's not the most Exceptions-y exception contender, to me; 𝐾𝑛𝑖𝑣𝑒𝑠 𝑂𝑢𝑡 is my favorite film of its year, and I'm still irked - IRKED, I tells ya! - that it only ended up with the one nomination, enough that I thought, "I'll be grinding my teeth for the entirety of an episode on that"; (although, sure, if it were to only have one, it ended up with the right one); and I went 𝑀𝑦 𝐵𝑖𝑔 𝐹𝑎𝑡 𝐺𝑟𝑒𝑒𝑘 𝑊𝑒𝑑𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑔 because it seemed a fun middle-ground-ish choice, and comedies aren't on the table too often. Plus, I've actually never seen it, so this might make a nice push to do that.

Final hours to get your votes in! The winner only currently has a 3 vote lead...

MJ

Since it seems like Knives Out has a shot, how’s this for a topic: imagine if Jamie Lee Curtis had won for this instead. All she probably needed was 1-2 more good scenes.
