Regarding Chris' point on The Apprentice, i think it's worth remembering that the Globes voters are, by definition, not American - with the old HFPA many of them lived in LA but with the new voting body I believe they're a majority not US-based. I don't think the support its getting here is coming from a protest against the election results as much as the election results having much lower stakes for these voters, and so the film being less of a hot potato type thing, it's not radioactive in quite the same way. Has made 2x more overseas than domestic, to prove the point. May still just be a shitty movie as Chris says, idk, i'm not watching it lol. Suspect for this reason that the Stan and Strong noms won't reappear among groups with primarily American voting bodies like Critics Choice and SAG, but maybe I'm wrong. Blitz is absolutely the weak link of my fantasy team, since Furiosa got an NBR listing and Saturday Night got that Globe nom - Conclave or Nickel Boys would've been a much better use of Blitz's $20 price tag! loving these updates

I’ll say this: missing the Globes might end up being a very good thing for Baptiste. It may be my specific film bubble, but everyone talking about her being a ridiculous omission is probably the best kind of Oscar buzz, in driving attention to her film and how good her in it work is. And, although I don’t think there’s room for her in a race this stacked, I do think Winslet has been nominated for lesser work than what she does in Lee.

For the Box Office Achievement award, the films had to submit specifically to be considered in that award - Dune Part Two didn't, so they weren't eligible. Only sixteen films submitted, and half of them got in. The ones that submitted and didn't get nominated were: Despicable Me 4, IF, It Ends With Us, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, Kung-Fu Panda 4, Moana 2, A Quiet Place: Day One, and Red One

Nightbitch was supposed to be a Hulu exclusive, then given a theatrical release, then post-TIFF reviews I think Searchlight pulled back - but literally there were showings at multiple AMCs in NYC that were then cancelled - only leaving it at the Times Square AMC which seems like dumping to me! But yes why release in December then? I also just want to see this movie not in a rat-infested theater :(
