Rose and Gilda Are Death Dropping

Been holding onto that one since I first listened this morning

Jenny Maurer

For christs sake y’all should see all the late 80s to early 90s queer cinema

J Kyle Wilsor

WOULD YOU PULL THAT HAM WITH A NET!! 😂🤣

Andy Germuga

I read this play back in high school looking for monologues and definitely did not understand it at all. I saw an NT Live broadcast of the most recent high profile production with Daniel Radcliffe a few years ago and I think I liked it but don't remember that much about it. I also remember in William Goldman's famous book The Season he really goes to town on the original Broadway production of R&GAD as the perfect example of the "Snob Hit" that essentially is only liked because people think they will look stupid if they don't like it. That book is a blast (though pretty problematic) if anyone has interest in the theater scene.

OH and the rumor I've always heard about the Lucrecia Martel jury is she let them give Joker the Golden Lion to block it from going to Polanski.

Lance Hunter

As a high school theatre kid in the 90s, I con confirm that the Questions game from this play was *the* go-to for any situation where we had down-time (and didn't have a hacky-sack available).

Sam Hetherington

Diane Warren’s original song for American Splenda would be ‘Stand Up Sweet (Like a Woman)’

Matthew Holsapple

RIP Me. Chris's 'Andrei Isn't Here" reference has left me fully deceased.

Michelle Brosius

I was in this play in college (Ophelia)! Kicked all of our butts.

Brandon Sitrit-Leibovich

I’m offended on your behalf that some listeners can’t tell your beautiful voices apart !!

MJ

Lange worked with Scorsese on Cape Fear, Chris, but it’s easy to forget that. (Love her in it though.)

Jessi Haley

I love Angel at My Table almost as much as I love Janet Frame! Highly recommend reading her work

Chrissy

Can confirm An Angel at My Table is not a bummer. There are some sad moments, but overall the vibes are very triumph-of-the-human-spirit and justice-for-introverts

Aditya Bhagirath

Great ep! I was lucky enough to catch the new restoration of Claire Denis' NO FEAR, NO DIE in theatres a few years back– very good movie! The Best Editing award it received was so well-deserved.

Asha

I love how much Chris hates Telluride.

Elliott Sainsbury

I’m putting Rashomon, Poor Things (because I’m a basic homosexual) and either Le Rayon Vert or Ordet for the three best Golden Lion wins. Cannot recommend Le Rayon Vert OR An Angel at My Table highly enough!!!!

Samuel Mc

I am renowned for not telling voices apart on podcasts especially since I'm not American but found it easy with you guys

Rob Watson

“We’re in a horrible age of dumb gay bitches.” 😂😂😂

Benji Black

Would this have been better if it were more like Tristram Shandy: A Cock and Bull Story?

Elizabeth Musser

I found this movie tedious, but I did like the bathhouse scene. I initially had a hard time telling your voices apart, but then I listened several times to a stretch where it was clear who was who. I truly put in the work.

Emily

I still can’t tell the difference between your voices but that’s ok. I’ll always love listening to you guys talk about film.

Cecil Spencer

I need Rosencrantz & Guildenstern to be introduced like "Jagger & Gideon, Gideon & Jagger" in All That Jazz. Shouldn't have cut Roth & Oldman's dance number to "Everythiing Old is New Again"

German Munoz

Would love to know more about your theatre background, Chris! Favourite roles? Plays? Playwrights??? Maybe an excursion episode around both your non-film interests. Or I guess I'll just save it for the next mail bag Ep!
