Feeling extremely validated as a Sehun bias, he really sneaks up on you. No joke when I was first getting into exo I had a dream that he walked into my room to wake me up and he just said “so I’m your bias get out of bed” and then I woke up with my first official kpop bias 💀

yeah mama is an iconic S-tier debut now but at the time people were like wtf is this lmao chanting AND screaming AND tattoos AND lyrics about how we as members of society have become disconnected from each other. also re: exo competing with shinee, mama unfortunately came out around the same time as sherlock, which was a huge hit. but that's ok because exo released growl like a year later and it became the national anthem. edit: sm probably turned down coachella because that wasn't like a strategic priority for them at the time. exo were at their peak before bts blew up internationally and kind of changed the game for kpop in the west. sme had already failed a couple of times in the US market so they focused on expansion in asia. it's a very different world now for kpop groups.
