On the smoking front, I know smoking is ultra common in Japan and that scene is based on the og source material (just slightly changed for the show) so I'm guessing it made sense in a Japanese context & they wanted to keep it for the show so they kinda just ignored that maybe it wouldn't happen in Thailand realistically? Also the sexiest man thing I too think is funny, iirc the drama around the actual award wasn't like Drama in the og but it IS the namesake of the og so it makes sense that they take it and use it so heavily (the og title translates to "im being harassed by the number 1 sexiest man/ sexiest man of the year" you know, classic yaoi manga titles LOL)
