yippeeee! so glad you watched this! This was my first time watching it edited as a movie, I do think it works slightly better as separate episodes just bc the pacing works a bit better? Also this came out before any of the new big CBLs came out so it was so shocking to see actual kisses! There are lots of special eps on youtube showing them as domestic partners and they're sooo cute~

JoannaMaybe

oh also the ending reunion scene is completely different in the youtube version! worth checking it out just for the gorgeous set that is Chen Li's house (different to the film version)

daze_daisy

The inspiration for the dream sequence was from the director's student film. It was posted on the University's YouTube channel. Haven't been able to find it since it I watched it way before the series came out. Also the ending is different on the YouTube version of the series. There's also like a series of extra chapters that's like a sequel to this story on the show's official YouTube channel. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-CWu74qAe0xDLYXY941sOIjaUpoWCNzu&si=bndX9oOK9jf-4dFs

Really love this show, and yeah there definitely are some weird scenes and lack of explanation.
