taehyung’s table of friends is the infamous wooga squad! it’s him & his actor friends. he met seojun when they were in a kdrama together 10 years ago (minho from shinee is in it!) and the group just formed from there. this friend group always hangs out and even have their own trip show on disney+ 🙂‍↕️ just a bit of random lore

i wont compare apples and oranges but this has a very similar energy to the latest docuseries taylor swift put out, where the pressure to continue improving from essentially being considered the top of your field is so incredibly stressful and you just know you’re going to disappoint and its all about fighting off the eventual inevitability of irrelevance. obviously this is different as there’s 7 voices in the room but its like. the pressure must truly have felt unreal

Beomgyu often tells Jin that he’s coming over without asking and people jokingly say Jin wants Jk’s code to escape him😂

They are so hard-working and to see other idol groups who do not do anything during their entire career, which of course is fine in the beginning but in my opinion is crazy to me. They really deserve everything they have

I am still of the opinion that the message wasn't strong enough. They needed at least 3-6 more months working on this album, they should have worked with more korean producers if they wanted to go the arirang route. I think they should have been unabashedly and unashamedly on the nose and that at least half the songs on the album should have had more elements of korean music and culture because the disconnect between body to body and the other track on the album is too great. If they wanted to make an album thats about arirang then it should have stronger eastern and western influences. Theres a lack of cohesion and the fact that they clearly don't know what they want the album to be is a serious problem. Putting out a record because its whats expected of you is never a good thing.

Ultimately BTS's music is at its best when the theme and concept of the album is strong

I’d say regardless of what we think, this is what they chose to do. They know best why they made those choices. As fans, it’s fine to hope our favourite artists do things a certain way. But if they don’t, it’s their choice. Our job is simple… Listen. If you like it then great. Stream away. If not, their old discography is still here for us to listen to with the hope of so much more to come. If we feel so strongly as to expect things from them, then perhaps it’s time to reevaluate if we’ve outgrown them or if they’ve outgrown us. Neither is wrong.

Ms. T

Just to add a little context: the general formula for BTS has always been that the rappers come together with in house producers and create albums. In the past, RM has talked about the weight of that responsibility and one of the reasons why they went to do their solo work was for all members to gain the experience of producing an album. Which they now have in their respective styles. The new BTS is very much a baby product because they’re all involved now so it’s 7 voices in a room and not 3. As they’ve mentioned in some of the other content pieces they’ve released, they were quite split of many songs (of the 120 they worked on) as they’re still working on finding who they are together and what their sound is in this 2.0 era. Did all the pieces magically fit together right off the bat? Perhaps not. But that’s discovery for you. It’s a journey and I’m happy to just see where it goes.

You’re 2 weeks away from 30? You’re a month younger than me :) and what you said about coming to this point in life is so real

Obvi I love BTS so much so I'm very biased but imo this was such a fascinating reaction !!! I think what you said about offering a somewhat informed but still outside perspective from Army is so true, and I would really love to see you react to some of their older docu series like from burn the stage (set when they were touring in wings era, the very start of their global success) onwards !!!! I feel like seeing you react to them before the explosion of dynamite would give a really different perspective on their personalities and relationships with each other, especially bc they were drastically more open and transparent in front of cameras back then as they weren't overall under such a microscope compared to now... not sure if that would be something to suggest under kpop variety or a short series but I think it would be really fun hehe
