So for the past couple years I've been brainstorming a sci-fi/cosmic horror comic. You've probably seen a lot of doodles for it in previous sketchbook posts. Well I finally started working on the pages proper, and wanted to share the first one with Patrons early. Free time to work on personal projects like this has been difficult to come by - but it would be impossible if not for your support. Thank you.

My hope is to finish the prologue and post it to the Patreon, followed by small batches of pages as I finish them. Currently, I have no way of knowing how quickly I'll be updating this. I also learned a lot from rushing into Beekeeper's Tale while running on fumes, so I won't be posting this new comic off Patreon until I have a nice buffer and feel confident that I can keep it up (and I do hope to return to Beekeeper's Tale some day, when it feels right.)

My work on Sever & Pierce with my friend Natasha, and my revised Sword Interval posts, will continue to take priority.

Thanks again for your support.

I've been super into the concepts and sketches for this that you've shared! can't wait to see what else you're cooking up

Michael DeGregori

Love how creepy and organic the pipes/tubes look!

Ben Fleuter

Thankya! Just drawing what I love to draw.

Nathan Walton

Oh hell yeah, I've loved everything I've seen from the doodles, so excited for the full thing.

Karoz

Wowow

Hugh Eckert

Looking forward to it. Also really enjoying "Sever & Pierce"!

Max Goldstein

Y'all mind if I over analyze this? Those pipes would be a nightmare for actual engineering and fluid flow. Nothing is at right angles or labelled. This contraption was made by building off an earlier prototype, trying just one more thing to get it right. Need an electrical connection for some reason? Just string a cable. Yes I get it's ambiance for the evil lab fusing a bunch of bodies together, so looking at it holistically -- wait a moment, that's a tree. A mechanical tree, an idolatrous imitation of nature. Love it.

Max Goldstein

Totally, if you look long enough. Once you see the tree, you can’t unsee it.

Ben Fleuter

That, and that these machines here are indeed meant to come off as sloppily iterated upon / cobbled together, not built to be efficient or from a conventional template.

Max Goldstein

Yeah, it’s hard to know how much of that is for style and how much the implications are intended. Hence my joke apology for over analyzing. It’s clear that if this machine were to be damaged or destroyed, it wouldn’t be easy to replace. There’s definitely only one of it.
