Hey guys,Happy Wednesday! Only two more days and it's weekend! Hurray!Things have started cooling down here in Belgium (Finally), so I'm not overheating anymore which is great. We're making some good headway with this update. Once I finish the scene I'm working on (which is quite big), we'll be halfway done. I expect to be done with that in 1-2 weeks. It's a lot of custom scene building with multiple characters, which always takes a bit more time. At the same time, I'm reworking some older content as well to bring it up to the current standard. We also got the third animation back from the animator. With all the variations and we have around 4 more animations planned for that scene, we'll be at around 20-30 animations (including variations) for just ONE scene! I'm really trying to bring these scenes to the next level. As always, I'll keep you guys updated on how things are progressing. Now, yesterday, I made a post about some internal things I was struggling with. I spent a good amount of time last night and today thinking about them and my main conclusion is: I am overreacting. Things are not as bad as they seem. I just have to take things one step at a time and keep looking forward instead of looking back.

Also a huge shout out to everyone for the kind words and messages you all left behind, all the advice you gave, ect... It means a lot to see that there is such a nice community who support the game.

I did see some recurring things that I want to address:

1. Regarding the update length/speed : I saw it was the most left comment and suggestion, to make the updates smaller and release them faster. While I could do that, for me, that just seems like cutting corners. I don't want to drip feed you guys pieces of content/scenes one at a time, I want every chapter to stand on it's own and complete it's purpose. The only thing that I won't be doing is increasing the length/render count for every chapter. Some chapters will be bigger and some will be smaller, but I don't want to leave you guys hanging mid-update. I want you all to really enjoy it and what it has to offer in it's fullest.

2. Regarding choices/expanding the reach of the game : Another suggestion I saw a few times, was to include choices to reach a wider audience. While again, it is something I could do, the extra development time it would take to do that, is not worth it at this point. I'm not confident enough to be able to provide a truly meaningful story with multiple choices YET. It is something I WILL do for future titles, but for Shadows of Ambition, things will remain linear for now. Maybe I'll revisit and rework the entire game once it's completed for like the full steam release, but who knows. I am planning on making a steam page for the game very very soon. Most likely this weekend, so people can start wishlisting it!

I'll do my best to keep working hard! I truly enjoy working and creating something, so I definitely won't stop or give up on it, so don't worry about that! :)

Other than that, we'll be posting some more teasers over the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for all the support!

I'm actually inclined to agree with you I think It's your game and, whilst it is right to take into account the views of your audience, it is you who are putting the hours in to make it and, at the end of the day (so far as I am concerned), it is you decision what you do with it. I understand that you would like ideally to reach a decent-sized audience but you'll never please them all so it doesn't make sense to try. I'm enjoying it and, if, at some stage, it turns out that I don't enjoy it as much as I am at the moment, I shall walk away. I don't see that happening as things stand.

I'm here for longer waits for bigger updates! Sometimes with small updates it feels like it's over before it even unzips.

Love your game. Regarding longer or shorter updates I really don’t have an opinion. I think the key is consistency. For instance if you stay on a release schedule most people respect that. While everyone wants updates quicker Ive always felt it was better when I knew updates are coming versus just saying “soon”. Sometimes the developers definition of soon isnt the same as mine. I know that’s a hard thing to do when you are working alone but that is the only advise I can offer. Good luck and keep up the great job

I'm really happy that you are back on the track. Stick to what you do, you're the best dev to me and you'll get more people for sure soon. Wish you the best, mate. Btw Alice is hot af on this pic

Keep your path. Take out of this novel work, what you believe to do different in the next one. You have a great one. Love the different characters - most of them

Keep going with the good job! Lot of support from Belgium! 🇧🇪 Are you based in Brussels? 😍

Heh.. about the heat. I'm sure Belgium is uncomfortable, comparatively. However, I'm in Phoenix, AZ. It's been between 110 and 116F for weeks with 8-12% humidity. Yeah, it's a dry heat, but so's a freakin' blowtorch! LOL! I had to put another wall unit in my workshop just to render; apparently the smoke alarm is NOT a timer :-) But best of luck on your end! And you might hit up Le Stag for his choices in CH45 of Netorase Phone, because he may have just OWNED the genre if he found a way to path and weight those alternative pathways. I don't know if he is likely to talk about it, but it might be an idea. I'm playing with it myself and haven't stumbled on an easy way to code it beyond just nose to the grindstone.
