Hi guys,Thank you so much for the input and participation in the last poll. Looks like I dropped the ball a bit with my first iteration of the new model, however after showcasing different ideas to the Discord, we've settled on something me and the team are happy about. When I posted the picture, people didn't even realize it was the new model. However side by side comparisons will always favor the old. I think you'll just have to see it in action.

While me and the team are laying out the plot and refining the details of Chapter 7, I'm taking the time to rework some old scenes that are just... bad compared to what I was able to achieve in Chapter 5 and Chapter 6. Mainly the initial Alice sex scene, the Kate dildo scene and the two cafe scenes in Chapter 2 and 3. Those will be done by next weekend and will be available for everyone with the free release of Chapter 6.1

Now moving onto the next poll, which is MINOR CHOICES.The goal of these minor choices, is to provide the player with some agency. It is noteworthy to mention, that this will increase the update time a little bit, as different scenario's will have to be tested and all the dialogue will have to be reviewed in order for it to make sense.These choices will NOT change the main plot of the game. For those who play MRPL, it would be similar in that capacity. (Changing the name of the MC and choices on what content you would like to participate in). Some people dislike a certain character and would be able to opt out from scenes involving that character. That does not mean, if for example, you chose for Alice not to participate with Sophie and Liam in Chapter 5, that you would get a completely different scene. You would simply not see that scene. This would mean that the amount of content per Chapter, stays the same, but depending on your choices, you would see everything or just less. This way I can keep the development cycle as close to what it is now. (I'm still on the fence about implementing these minor choices, as I need to consider the impact on the dev cycle and how the story plays out.) (Certain scenes won't be skippable for example as they're crucial to the plot)No matter what wins, this is just to gauge opinions and to consider my options for the future. Choices wouldn't be implemented in the next Chapter, it's something I would consider in the future.With everything, my goal is to make Shadows of Ambition as good as possible. The feedback from Chapter 6 was very positive, although I do feel like it missed the mark in certain scenes. I definitely learned a lot from that experience and now that I can really focus on SoA, I'm willing to bet Chapter 7 will be out of this world. Expect a big update with lots of content, focused primarily on Alice with fan-favorites such as Andrea making a return. (I kinda used this poll as a dev-log, oops!)

Nice, thank you for your time on discord to perfect the new style, was fun. For minor choice i was afraid about having less content cause i like without choice since your writing is good, but if the choices mean they can just skip a scene but not having more scene its ok for me, i was afraid that it would reduce the amount of content or extend the time for an update for us who dont need choices but you clarified it and im ok if its just skip. Thank you Abyss for your hard work and for listening to us goat.

I think 90% of people who choose to skip a scene will end up watching it either way just out of curiosity so I dont see a point in having those choices. If someone wants to have their own headcanon then they can just do it without further intervention needed from you. Also I feel like a big part of this genre is that the MC and viewer are journeying together. Just like in many cases when the MC needs a little push from other characters to go along with something NTS related, thats also what the viewer is going through. And in a lot of cases even tho the viewer might not have been okay with a scene, they end up liking it because of the thrill that the MC also experiences. And I cant imagine the extra steps this would cause for future conversations with other characters. For example, MC and Andrea discussing the events on the beach on their phone, now would have to be cut or rewritten in that version of the viewers route. And thats just one example, this would become more and more complicated with each skippable scene and conversation, for a function that 90% of people will ignore either way.

I'm with erm on this one, and I'll go a step further: I actively dislike the idea of having choices. It just forces me to play parts multiple times to see what's different between the two choices. It takes me out of the narrative and breaks my immersion. That said, I DO think you should be able to rename the MC. That's a relatively easy feature to implement which doesn't add any complexity or change the feel of the game in any way.

I actually feel the opposite - choices really take me out of it. Now I have to make a save, explore both paths, and probably make additional saves, which very acutely reminds me that it's a game. Then I have to deal with the idea that I made the "wrong" choice. I'm not a huge fan of MRPL for that reason.

P.S. New image is much better! Nose, eyes, and lips seem to be on par with old, which is the primary allure. I really think a side-by-side of that image would be more favorable with that level of quality. Perhaps a better way to do side by side is to not label which is old and new, then have people guess which is which? If they can't reliably guess, you know they're close enough to be indistinguishable. Anyway, fantastic work!

Huh, interesting. So it's really the VN you are looking for rather than a "game". Totally cool with that. Alternatively, the Creator could put a toggle in the Options, you can select your fetishist, and then enjoy the story without interruption with only the content you want to see play out.

For me at the side by side old vs. new comparsions just the eyes of old version looked more attractive. But its not a killer problem.

Yes, if you choose not to share Alice with someone, you won't see a NTS scene.

Would have liked to know decisions were being made in discord instead of just the polls. Good, but the old version faces still look better. Something about the old versions having more character and looking less like every other AI game out there, I think. And choice is never bad.

The poll made the decision already. I was just fine-tuning things and bouncing it back and forth in discord. I can’t exactly make a poll for every minute change I do to the model. I just wanted input on how close I was getting and everyone seemed happy with the results. You’ll see those results soon in-game as I’m reworking some old content rn

Yep, voted in those, not suggesting 50 different polls, but you wrote that you were showcasing different ideas to the Discord for feedback; maybe in the next poll state that opinions were also being accepted in discord regarding the issue for folks who don't camp there. Changing character appearance is a big deal to fans.

Not surprised, that we are tight in the feed-back. My fear is the longer release cycle. Alternatives are really an effort and I like the way the story goes. Therefore my vote on Nah.

I voted yes. Even if I value above all your own vision, I think if there are minor choices, you may more inclined to do some stuff you actually want to do, but that you would consider too risky otherwise in a purely kinetic novel (because people enjoy complaining all the time). That's at least how I interpret it.
