Hello everyone!

I’m currently working on my project for Mermay.

For bigger projects like this I like to take some photos as “sketches” before the actual photoshoot. Usually I don’t share those because they often are far from what the final photos look like and I’m not very happy with the results. But I thought it might be interesting to see how I work on more complex projects like this.

I will change the angle and probably the lighting a little bit and I want to work with smoke for the actual photoshoot.

This year I’m going for a darker theme with “evil” mermaids. I like to try out new things for Mermay and I thought it would be boring to just do the same thing over and over again without a proper challenge.

The first thing I thought seeing these was, Oh spooky! Cool. Not because of the skeleton and skull though, they were hard to make out on my phone. Certainly, the lighting contributed, but covering your face made me think of creatures not friendly to humans. Can't wait to see the final results!

Gosh this is scary! Which means it's very well done even if just a sketch yet! And like the other comment - the scariness (or creepiness might be better word) is not in the skulls but in the way the head is covered and the lightning making the atmosphere. Not really my vibe (aka something I would use for reference) but hats off for ability to create atmosphere and have desired effect on others, well done!
