Floki seeing the cross in Iceland was the last straw lmao. It is believed that Irish monks actually might have discovered the island before the Vikings (no doubt the Irish weren't the first either) but its said they used the island as a monastery or sort of remote isolated place to focus on their faith. They most likely abandoned it due to its remote location and unsuitable inhabitability, like how Floki and the rest of them found out the hard way.
