Don't get fixated with judging characters one way or another, you don't know them as Elena doesn't, you don't know their backstory and their motivations. Also you are already bias blinded, don't you see the lie that Stefan is feeding Elena, or how he gaslighting her, making her think she is mad, delusional.....He is pretending to be a high school boy , insert himself in her life with the aim of seducing her, isn't THAT manipulative? You judge characters base on how they are presented without questioning what you see...and the clue are there very evident. Why Damon keep bring up Katherine with Elena, that is manipulative, but what are the two brothers manipulation of Elena? One is manipulating her to seduce her, with false pretences, with lies, gaslighting her every time she come close to seen something that would give him away. Damon's motivation, is not against his brother, he loves to wind him up because he is way too serious and self-righteous. In episode 3 when Elena's asked Damon to tell her his version of the story with Katherine he could have expose his brothers, told Elena his version of the story, instead he told her to ask Stefan, because he doesn't want to badmouth Stefan as Stefan does to any given occasion, Damon motivation is to push Elena to ask question, to protect her, because his brother is not what she think he is. Damon has reasons to act the way he does, do not judge characters prematurely, because doing that is not smart., fail the purpose of the show. The narrative "good brother bad brother," why is there for?

Damon is still here doing wild things so whether he’s pushing Katherine to good or not he’s not presenting himself as a good guy. And yes we started questioning Stefan we know he’s off but we’ll learn more as the story unfolds! Only taking it as we go. All great points you’re making though this is a comment I’m gonna ready for sure

Stephen the first character we me so naturally the show wants you to be on his side . But if your brother just hurting innocent people and you not stopping him. He has to take some blame . Most heroes don't let people get hurt .
