Ever After High Review - PATRON EXCLUSIVE!

Let's see what Disney decided to rip off and call Descendants...

Yugo Strange

Now I want a short circuit 1 aand 2 review, both great underrated classics

Grace Starkes

Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my god! I can’t believe your reviewing it!!! I never thought you’d take our suggestions to see the much better version of Descendants!

Tedder

Are you going to upload it on Youtube as well?

Raven Fox

He's fairly certain it will be copyright blocked immediately if he does. Are you able to see it on Vimeo?

I was just curious, but thanks for asking. I'm able to see the video, fortunately.

Adam Kay

I’m no fashion expert (nor am I interested with fashion in general) but the shoes the gals are wearing are ridiculous. Why must they all be high heels?

SummerMoonSoldier

*didn't even click Play yet* I wasn't into dolls AND was older than the target audience when the animations came out... But wow, I remember losing my mind in delight when they actually showed a kiss between two of the girls. (Some try to argue that it wasn't a kiss, it was CPR, so it doesn't count, except: The camera lingered on their lips pressed together, and we clearly see the glow of magic. And the recipient of said kiss woke up from her enchanted sleep, so the spell CLEARLY counted this as a TRUE LOVE's kiss.)

Grace Starkes

Your idea to improve on the legacy day thing is actually much better than what we’ve got.

Curtis Rogahn

So all these people who are saying this is the idea of next gen fairy tales done right...did they actually see it? I mean, it's not as infuriating as Descendants, but COME ON! The format fights the story, the character designs are HORRIBLE (mostly due to fashion), and I don't think they fully know what to do with the ideas they got. Or maybe my love of nextgen spin offs combined with my own ideas is clouding my judgement. That being said, your fixes are awesome.

Hell I think it has more than Descendants. Ever After High at least has some clever ideas. Like the Gingerbread Man being the highschool track coach, or the whole Cedar and lying thing (even if they did it wrong). At least Descendants had no idea what they were doing.

Here's another dark turn re Cerise. In most versions of Red Riding Hood, Red is usually a CHILD when her story occurs. So are we to think she had a kid with someone she met as a little girl while he was already an adult? (Or the WAY dark and creepier alternative) It'd be a lot better if Cerise's dad was, say, the younger brother or son of the Big Bad Wolf.

Elizabeth Athineu

Is anybody else nauseated by Professor Discount White Dr. Facilier? I always thought of this one as a Monster High rip off of the Disney Princess craze and an attempt to capitalize on that! I think those were by the same people that did Bratz dolls and I really, really don't like that line at all or the materials that go along with it! It's toxic juvenelia! You are right, though, the Mad Hatter's daughter hearing the narrator is perfect and that should've been given more focus for comedy's sake. I hope you are both able to stay sane while staying in! Be well and stay safe!!!

SummerMoonSoldier

I know this is my third comment but. Wait. Duchess takes the form of a BLACK swan when she shapeshifts. ...shouldn't she actually be the daughter of Odile, then? It'd certainly make her role as a villain make more sense.

Kayla Woody-Keller

As soon as I saw the design I knew that my mom would’ve never let me play with those dolls as a kid. I was not allowed to have bratz since they wore too much makeup, skimpy clothes, and their heads were too big. Lol!

SilverZeo

While I do enjoyed the series to a degree, as it did got better later on (one episode having a KorraSami twist).... yeah, you are kinda on the money. I DO enjoy imagining the stories we COULD have gotten from this show more than what was given...

SilverZeo

Also, hate to be THAT kind of fan... I believe Duchess is the daughter of the BLACK swan, the one who suppose to pretend to be the REAL Swan Princess in the ballet, to which is why she wants to take other Princesses roles... Heck, she was a black swan in one clip you showed here... But not a major mistake... I don't think they showed the REAL Swan Princess overall in the series.

I'm sure we can think of Ashlynn Ella's second name as a second name not a family name. Prince Charles is Prince Charles Phillip Arthur George, after all. I was going to suggest that maybe she and the Prince Charming she was expected to marry could be cousins instead of siblings. That might trigger a “Must be a Bobsheaux” alert for you, but it is a part of even recent history (Victoria and Albert were first cousins, after all, and people of the time didn’t consider it incest). And for that matter Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip are both second and third cousins (and a lot of other cousins besides, if one goes back further.) It might be something one wants to keep from kids now, but it is only recently that we commonly had major European royals marrying their unrelated personal trainers and people they went to college with. But it turns out even that doesn’t work. According to Wikipedia, Daring and Dexter are the sons of the King Charming from “every story where a Prince Charming comes to the rescue.” That means Ashlynn Ella has to be at least their half-sister. And it also means either King Charming committed polygamy / bigamy or we have a Henry VIII situation, negating Happily Ever After. You’re right. They really didn’t fully think all of this through.

Grace Starkes

Well at least Duchess Swan isn’t a Mary Sue unlike another daughter of the swan princess.

churchontime

Better than Little Princess School, at least

BB Shockwave

You could mention this is the same creators and franchise as Monster High. Also, surprised no jokes about the creators being ever after HIGH while making this? :D

BB Shockwave

Monster High also started like this, as 5-minute episodes. And later the DC Superhero Girls show was this way too. I feel that kids' attention span is getting shorter and shorter by the year...

BB Shockwave

Wait, Cupid is a girl in this??? But... Cupid/Amor has alway been male in mythology, he is the son of Aphrodite/Venus

BB Shockwave

Was that dragoness Derek Charming was fighting this show's version of Maleficent? She's cute.

Verdant Range

If they wanted to make the daughter or Red Riding Hood have wolf like traits, why not say the Big Bad Wolf bit her when he tried to eat her and thus she became a werewolf with the curse passed onto her children instead of making the BIG BAD Wolf a good guy? Also, I do like the theory that the other comments made that Duchess is not the daughter of Odette from the original story, but the evil imposter/daughter of Rothbart, Odile.

Jack Sullivan

31:18 this show does know that Robin Hood is an alias right it’s not his real name

Melissa Joy Miller

You should monster high, i have not seen it, but it looks kinda this or bratz

Melissa Joy Miller

I just want to say I love the reference at the end to The Princess Bride you should do a good review on that movie it is a classic and so romantic I want a love like Wesley and Buttercup sign*

At times when I think about my own Next Gen Fairy Tale MMO crossover, I for some reason keep coming back to having Red Riding Hood's daughter be the daughter of her and the son of the Big Bad Wold. Who is potrayed (like his father) as anthropomorphic

Interesting you say that. At times when I think about my own Next Gen Fairy Tale MMO crossover, I for some reason keep coming back to having Red Riding Hood's daughter be the daughter of her and the son of the Big Bad Wold. Who is potrayed (like his father) as anthropomorphic

More likely the daughter of Maleficent. Still far cuter than Mal's ugly ass CGI form.

EternalHikairiNoTension

I still prefer Ever After High over Descendants any day since Disney ripped off Ever After High and made it stupid and terrible at least Ever After High try to do it's own thing even with it's flaws.

Michael Cummings

Watch season 4 Dragon Games!!!! You were wondering where that subplot at the end of season 1 was going Dragon Games is it.
