I really hope I haven't fucked up with this one. I didn't get to say much about "the transes", for one thing, and I never managed to mention how the whole reductive sex-obsession effectively leaves out the aces and aros. I mean, if ContraPoints can be despised by her own community (or the part of it that tweets, or whatever they do now), god knows what this cishetero's done wrong. Glad I'm not famous. Oh, and I forgot to shout out to Philippe Branco for suggesting it. CANCELLED

The Hard Sell #240 - Pride

Advertising: the rattling of a stick in a swill-bucket? Welcome to the show where the stick rattles back: The Hard Sell. Adverts from history, treated with the respect they deserve. This episode: sing, if you're glad to be gay! As another Pride Month reaches towards the end, the Hard Sell wraps itself in a rainbow, just like Burger King, Chipotle, Skittles, AT&T...the United States Marine Corps? Lockheed Martin? Things may have got a little out of hand. Sit back and enjoy with your favourite selections from the special bumsex-friendly menu. patreon.com/applemask bobthefish.org.uk

Was the Pavlov's Bell branding a sop to me? If so, thanks for being considerate.

I don't know how you did that rainbow effect over the closing titles, but I'm very impressed. Great video, by the way. 👍🏳‍🌈

Matthew, as the person who suggested this, thanks very much. As a member of the LGBT+ community, I say don't hang yourself up. There is a massive difference between mistake and malice, of which you yourself have tried to convey despite being a cis straight male ally. As you can see pinkwashing and rainbow-washing is a big problem, especially in America at the moment. But people need to remember, corporations are communities of people in their own right, and they reflect the staff they serve. It is the old saying, don't be complacent. Already, the UK is one of biggest falls in Western Europe's ILGA racking.

Ultimately, I'm pretty sure you're the sort of guy who'd correct a mistake after making it, learn from it, and then work hard to make it not recur. So I wouldn't worry. Contra kept saying things that sounded transmed/enbyphonic even after it was pointed out to her, to the point where a lot of people couldn't trust that she wasn't doing it on purpose.
