The Hard Sell, Episode Seventy-Eight: Housework

Advertising: the rattling of a stick in a swill-bucket? Welcome to the show where the stick rattles back: The Hard Sell. Adverts from history, treated with the respect they deserve. This episode: spring has sprung and that means polishing and dusting and mopping and other fun activities for stereotypical housewives! Can the female gender break free from the patriarchy's rigidly defined role for her? Can Mr Sheen survive without Willie Rushton? And just who is Mr Sheen anyway? You make the call! I can see why this one took longer to put together. Thanks for all the effort you put in! I have to admit, I love those Pledge 'When the dust settles' adverts. Brilliantly played out with a lovely sense of humour in them. And having been in New Zealand for nearly six years, I'd like to state my puzzlement at seeing the now live-action Mr Sheen. Talk about taking things too far. What next - having an actor play Mr. Kipling?
