Next week, as this goes live to the public, you get the full Christmas special, with a new format from the previous four. Which goes live to the public the following week. Also there's some Christmas Wrapping to come, obviously. Can't promise Rule The Waves won't go on hiatus until the new year, but not certain it will. Entertainment on One.

That match was broadcast on 9th December 1984. I have used the British Newspaper Archive to find TV listings for that day. The Liverpool Echo confirms that Granada were showing the Sports Special in question, and also gives regional variations, for HTV and Central, that show no actual variations for the timeslot, suggesting those two regions were also showing the match. The Newcastle Journal shows that Tynes Tees were also showing the match, and the regional variation listed in that paper, shows that Border didn't have a variation for that timeslot (or seemingly for almost any other timeslot that weekend), suggesting that they too were also showing it. Alcohol-free lager sounds terrible. The only reason I sometimes put up with lager (being a good West Country cider drinker as a rule) is because it contains at least some alcohol, so if I work at it I can at least get halfway drunk on the stuff. The flavour is not something I am especially enamoured with, to say the least, and the flavour is about all you have left as a selling point if you take out the alcohol. Regarding taking any work they could get, I know the feeling. I've had every shift this week cancelled so far, and now they have just sent me a 'reminder' for a shift over the weekend that I never consented to, or even knew about, so having sat on my rear all week naively hoping for the chance to work I now have to choose between greatfully gobbling up the one crumb they have generously forced on me, or the plans I actually had for that day with my friends and family. Oh the wonders of modern zero-hours employment, that allows us to have much the same lack of paid work as back in 1984, yet simultaneously have the highest percentage of 'employed' people, and lowest percentage able to claim benefits, in modern human history... At least I can rely on you to provide me with witty entertainment such as this. Are there any plans for some sort of 'centenary' special when you hit number 100? Looks like datewise it will be somewhere between Easter and the Early May Bank Holiday, which might provide a useful date to tie such a special to.

Ooh, thanks for pointing that out, because my next big series is due to start in May, so the 100th episode would be a good jumping-off point. I know I have to do something, but I still can't think of anything. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Heh. 'Coming Down the Chimney' indeed! The great Bob Todd, there, as the Yardley Santa. Obviously Benny Hill didn't pay enough for Todd to have the rest of the year off...

Hi. I'm getting an 'unable to find video' message from Vimeo when I click the link. I had the same for the beer episode too until it went on general release. Any help appreciated :)

Well, that shouldn't be happening, although Vimeo does seem to play up on certain systems. I'll upload it to Mediafire for you, just keep it secret.
