Another new concept oh no. I quite enjoyed this, I hope I can do more. This is also the start of a brief excursion into America that continues next episode.

If you do want to/are able to contribute, I'd rather have scans than physical copies, but if that's too time consuming I'm prepared to do the scanning myself in extremis. Family Circles, Radio Timeses, Marie Claires, Top Gear Magazines, Farming Weeklies, Gardening Todays, Qs, Empires, anything really short of "rhythm magazines". From at least the decade before last, preferably older. And a cherry on top. And a pony.

I have a few old VolksWorld magazines laying around here somewhere, if they're of any use?

Gryph Lane

Yeah, unfortunately. Cars for sale, new parts, classic insurance companies, that sort of thing

Matthew, I've got a fair few scans of the TV Times from 1978 until circa 1991, ads and all. I'll send them to you later if that's OK.

Andrew Coldrick

The Internet Archive pinpoints this scan as being regionally for the TV affiliates in Kentucky (Louisville, Lexington, and Cincinnati, Ohio right across the state line), if anyone was interested or if it even matters.

I was 10 months old in June, 1980. NBC was in the crapper. The actors strike was happening and America boycott the Olympics. This episode brings me back!

I've got a big collection of Beanos if you're interested in scans of those. They began taking advertising in around 1988, and for at least a few years the ads were mostly handdrawn (bar a few small b+w ones), and mostly by the Beano's own artists, which often made them feel like just another strip in the comic, albeit one where the ficitional hero needed to eat Frosties to gain his superpower, or drink Tizer, or ride a Raleigh BMX or whatever. I definitely scanned a few somewhere once before, but I'll have to see if they are still on my website, or in the cloud somewhere, of it they were lost when one of my previous laptops packed up. I can always scan a few again if I can't find them and you are interested. Edit: Here's an article I wrote nearly 8 years ago about ads in the Beano. Turns out I never actually uploaded the images to go with it, annoyingly. https://www.spanglefish.com/webbyswonderfulworld/index.asp?pageid=549632

Yeah, I'll take those, because they're Beanos as much as for the ads. I remember them running relatively straightforward ads, because I was freaked out by ET in one once.
