Four months passed. Rather than head straight back to the Order like Caradawg had wanted, Cid had opted to resume their regular patrol. Despite the drama of the previous few days, it didn't take long for the Lance to get back into their regular routine. Riding during the day, camping under the stars at night or occasionally staying in an inn.

It was all exactly as it had been before, but of course everything was different. The guys were finally getting along the way a group of comrades should, and though Cid or Brin were often called upon to settle some little dispute or argument, they never seemed to blossom into real, lasting resentment. And now that Brin was openly using his illusions among the Lance, they'd reached a level of teamwork and coordination that he bet most Lances only dreamed of.

In addition to being able to whisper directions straight into their ears, he was able to give them all Minimaps using only three directed threads for the entire Lance. One to run an Invisible Eye above them all, another to project the image to each of them, and then one more to listen for commands. Some of them found it annoying to have the map in their field of view at all times, and liked to be able to dismiss it or pull it up again.

He used another two directed threads just for Anwir, but those he only used when Anwir was hunting. With a combination of his own eyes and a camera that could zoom in on his target, Anwir was able to hit rabbits or the occasional deer from an astounding distance.

Three more threads watched Hedrek. One was conscious and using about 1/12th of Brin's time, with two directed threads. They were in charge of explaining and re-explaining how to do the little tasks that Hedrek had a hard time with.

At first, Brin had just put written instructions from the Codes in front of him, but Hedrek couldn't be bothered to read them. What ended up working the best was when Brin had just started highlighting things in yellow, sort of the same way Hogg had done for him all those years ago. He'd highlight the strap on Hedrek's armor, and then the loop where it was supposed to go next, step by step. Lately, Hedrek was getting himself ready as quickly and accurately as anyone else in the Lance, and he didn't have the embarrassment of needing visible instructions or help from anyone.

Even Govannon was less annoying lately, though Brin's worst fears came true and he'd ended up needing to be the one to befriend the guy. He was pretty normal when he wasn't feeling insecure, and he was always ready to geek out with Brin about optimizing System stuff, a topic which made most people uncomfortable.

He also seemed to actually be very touched that Brin hadn't actually been aiming to kill him during the Crucible, which Brin found both funny and extremely sad.

Brin spent most of his days zoned out and working with his new Skills. Riding across the countryside wasn't the most exciting work, but it was perfect for meditating on the word <Laser>. They'd found a [Gemsmith] who was able to fix the shape of Brin's remaining half of the Fire Jelly core, and to his delight, being smaller did nothing to affect its ability to focus and magnify laser power, only its storage capacity. And even without the core, his power increased day by day. He made a huge leap when he combined it with the word <Space>, one of the words that Lumina suggested he meditate on. Strangely, <Laser> seemed to resonate more strongly with the idea of connecting space, rather than traveling through it.

The months were somewhat slow when it came to System rewards, but they weren't completely fruitless.

Alert! Meditation has leveled up. 18 -> 22

Through training, you have increased the following attribute:

Magic +5

There had also been one more advancement, but he couldn't claim it was due to his efforts. One day, while they'd been on a mountain trail a hundred miles from civilization, a notification had popped up.

Alert! Celebrated Creativity has upgraded.

You have authored and performed a song which has been sung by over ten thousand people.

+20% -> +30% to all attributes while creating, performing, or inventing.

He had to read the message three times before he noticed what had changed. One thousand turned to ten thousand. The legend of the kukubaru was still spreading.

When he wasn't busy with Language, he was refining everyone's HUDs or working on his "Battle Programs". He still didn't have a way to copy and store illusions, so the best he could do was store memorized Language in his [Memories In Glass], but even with that limitation he was vastly expanding the tricks he'd be able to pull out at a moment's notice.

While he always had a lot to do, the men were starting to get restless. After they left Dustrim, they never saw another goblin. They found tracks and abandoned camps that suggested that the goblins were everywhere, but the monsters never seemed to be in range of Brin's Invisible Eyes.

He didn't like it. It started to remind him of the undead in Frenaria. He knew they were out there, he knew they were a threat, and yet they never seemed to appear. What was Arcaena doing here?

It was especially bad for Marksi. In the beginning, the little dragonling would skip away every night to go hunt, but there wasn’t much out on Prinnash’s wide fields to challenge an ambitious little dragon. He quickly grew tired of chasing rabbits and mice, and started to become bored and lethargic. He spent his days sleeping on Brin’s lap in the saddle, and then slept all night at camp.

Once, Brin found an interesting fox beast and sent Marksi after it. The fox was high level, 28, but still the size of a regular fox. The resulting battle was ferocious as Marksi finally found a creature that could match his slippery speed. He’d returned that night with several long scratches across the scales of his back and stomach, but he’d been so proud he’d spent an entire week scampering around happy and energetic as ever. But eventually the boredom set in again and he started sleeping all the time. This was what Perris had tried to warn him about. Dragons were creatures for all occasions. If it was battle and adventure you wanted, they’d be right there with you. But if there was nothing going on, they were perfectly happy to sleep their lives away.

It wasn’t only the lack of monsters; it was the change of climate. In the forests in the Boglands, Marksi could always imagine that there was something interesting to find behind that next patch of trees, even when there wasn’t. In the fields of Prinnash, Marksi would always imagine that there was nothing out there to see, even when there was.

Things weren’t much better for the knights. Cid shut down any sparring or practicing Skills that might result in injury while they were patrolling, but the men were wearing him down. Without enemies to fight, their only way to advance their Class was to practice against each other. Without that, they were falling behind.

They'd returned to the Order only once in the four months’ time, and they'd stayed there for only two days. Cid had a closed-door meeting with Galan in a room Brin couldn't spy on, and then they'd left the next day.

At least that had been enough time for Brin to talk to Kartof about weapons. The [Weaponsmith] had been elated with Brin's Morphic Weapons and promised that he'd be able to find him the perfect weapon for that ability.

Fall came, though with the few trees out on the plains, there wasn't much falling to be done. It was noticeable mostly from the leaves on the short little bushes, though sometimes there would be miles-long fields of the bushes and seeing their leaves all colored red and yellow was a beautiful sight.

Then the leaves fell and rotted and Prinnash was an ugly grayish brown. Winter came. It was much colder than the Boglands, though nothing close to as cold as his home on Earth. It snowed only occasionally, and even then never covering more than an inch. Between his Vitality and his Titles, he barely noticed it except for how briefly pretty it was to see fields of white rather than brown.

###

Four months after they'd left Dustrim, Brin found himself cutting into Hedrek and Cid's watch. He was restless, and didn't need much sleep besides, so he stayed up and watched the city's lantern lights.

Canibri. It was bigger than he'd imagined it to be. The city was closer to the size of Oud’s Bog rather than the Hammon’s Bog-sized hamlet he’d been imagining.

He stayed a bit away from Cid and Hedrek. He tried not to listen in on conversations that he wasn't in earshot for. Now that they knew he could always be listening, he made it a habit to respect their privacy whenever possible. So he was surprised when Cid left the campfire and shuffled over next to him.

"You've hardly spoken a word all day and you've been staring at Canibri for an hour now. Are you that desperate for a day on the town? I wouldn't blame you, if so."

Brin had been quiet today? Thinking back, maybe he had been. There actually was something on his mind. And honestly? It was probably time to tell Cid about this. Cid had proven himself trustworthy, and he'd already completed the relationship quest for all the other guys in the Lance. The last person in line was Brin. He decided to just say it.

"That's Canibri. I have relatives here." There. That wasn’t so hard.

"You're not speaking of [Archmage] Lumina or the mysterious Hogg. I assumed your family died in the Boglands somewhere." Cid spoke with forced casualness; Brin hadn't exactly been forthcoming with his past. Or rather, Aberthol's past. Brin couldn't tell him everything, but he figured the Prime deserved another piece.

"The person who gave birth to me was a [Witch] of Arcaena named Aberfa Beynon, though I will never call her my mother. Her husband was a [Scout], captured and taken prisoner. He was Cadwy Baines, and then Cadwy Beynon after she took him."

Cid looked constipated. His lips were pressed tight together and his eyebrows were up and he was clearly trying to hold in a million questions in the hopes that Brin would keep talking.

"The result was Aberthol, but please, please don’t call me that. I’m Brin now. Aberthol Beynon… was a different person." Brin was finding this harder to talk about than he'd expected. Part of it was because he didn't want to directly lie to Cid, but most of it was because this brought up real, painful emotions. He wasn't Aberthol, but those months with Aberfa in his dreams had affected him.

When Cid saw that Brin wasn't going to continue, he took a shaky breath. "Sezorat's Maze, Brin. Every time you tell me something new about your life it makes me want to kill myself."

Brin laughed. "Anyways, Cadwy gave me a last request. He wanted me to tell his other children what happened to him. I guess I should do it. I don't owe Cadwy anything, not a single damn thing, but his children probably deserve to hear what happened to their father. One little conversation and then it can be over, I can finally close that chapter in my life."

"You should go! You have leave, as much time as you need," said Cid. "Ye gods, man, why haven't you asked before now?"

"I don't know, it's just, how do you even go about something like that? Hi, I'm Brin, I'm your dad's other family. Oh yeah, you probably thought he abandoned you, but actually he spent twelve years in misery and then died horribly. Sancta Solia, maybe it's better if I don't go."

“Why would they assume he abandoned them? They probably thought he was dead,” said Cid.

“That’s even worse. They’re better off thinking that rather than what actually happened. The more I think about this, the more I think that the only reason I’m doing this is for a System reward. Telling them may be a cruelty.”

Cid paused for a moment, standing beside Brin and watching the lights of the city.

"Get your horse. We're going now."

"What? It's the middle of the night."

"No, it's three hours past sundown. By the time we get to Canibri it will be midnight, and most people are up at that hour," said Cid.

That was actually true. He still hadn't completely adjusted to sleeping schedules in an era before lightbulbs, but most people went to bed at dusk, and got up for a couple hours at midnight before going back to sleep until dawn. Now that it was winter, those wakeful midnight hours were longer than normal.

"Awake or not, it's not a time for visitors."

"For this kind of visit," Cid answered, "it's the perfect time."

Matt

Oh my, some great build up here... I'm waiting for all the pieces to start crumbling down :D This series does the best job of building everything up so nicely, only for the horror setting to pop up in the last 3rd of the book. I'm here for it.

Grace

I’ve been waiting for the half-fam ark! I’m so nervous, this could go so many ways.

Coindragon

Thanks for the chapter

John Anastacio

I'm surprised that Brin didn't get a meeting with the Long Sleep's Interrogators as Caradawg requested. In fact, complete silence on that entire thing. Very odd. I think the key words for Cid were 'System reward'. If the System wants you to do something, you do it.

Hell 5pawn

I hope Tenerer doesn't regret this part of Brin's mission too.

Matt

Reading this chapter, she would be great if the interlude was that meeting between Galan and Cid :D I would like to see a subtle.. "I told you so." From Galan. Although this way DOES ratchet up the tension by holding back info.

Tadas

I really like the way Cid has developed. When he was introduced I thought he will be the arrogant young master archetype Brin will clash with. I much prefer this dynamic.

Lycaon

Good for you, Cid!

Eric M

That and it makes one of his lance stronger potentially, I’m sure the stagnation the past 4 months bothers him just as much since it isn’t just CID’s personal stagnation, but his lance’s as well.

Douglas Lilley

Small Typo: “He spent his days sleeping on the Brin’s lap” should be “He spent his days sleeping on Brin’s lap”

Douglas Lilley

I don’t know why Brin didn’t just rip off the bandaid and say his scout-dad became a zombie, which he killed, and his witch-mom became a monster that he killed. The slow-roll of info that the readers already know (and shouldn’t really have any bearing on the plot) kind of takes away from the moment a bit.

Nathaniel Ownbey

I think it might be better to have a point of view from Brins kin. This is honestly a big moment for him

RJD

So Brin gets 30% increase in magic and strength if he sings while fighting?

MrWheelsOfMime

No, it only affects his creative work. Unless he becomes some kind of blade-dancer.

Logrus

Cid is a great character.

RJD

Those details don't have anything to do with current task and details he is unlikely to discuss for no reason

RJD

It is like Cid's instructions were hide Brin for sometime. Though I don't see and reason not to train weapons, footwork, and strength.

Douglas Lilley

When he’s talking to Cid there wasn’t a task. He was just explaining why he was preoccupied while looking at the city. I get not wanting to talk about personal stuff, but that’s exactly what Brin was doing. If you mean it’s not relevant to the achievement, I’ve got to assume Brin’s step-fam is going to have follow-up questions as to how their dad died, and that last conversation. If Brin lies and tells them their dad made the request before confronting a zombie army, they might take it worse than if he’s honest and tells them he was able to put their dad to rest for certain after he’d already become one. Cid’s going to be in the room so I don’t see why Brin’s telling him half the story now and half later the same night.

Catirosity

Thanks for the chapter

Crow Says Caw

I’m so fucking glad Brin is with someone like Cid to have his back for something like this. Brin is a bit sneaky and will worm out of things, I think because the illusionist part of his class encourages him to be mildly deceitful even to himself. Cid is such a straight-shooter it’s unreal. Definite aid I think for this TFTC!

Lacey J.J.

Thanks for the chapter. :)

Jasus

The beginning was a bit abrupt. I had thought he would be interogated.

Mrdelta

Or as a complete nonsequitor, Zilly's time in the army as a juxtaposition to Brins time as a knight.

Andrew

Thank you!

Chien Do

Nah, Cid is bound by honor, but he truly cares for his men. He does it because it is right.

Chien Do

Bro what. Brin's story is stuff of nightmare. Cid said it himself, he wants to kill himself just by listening to it. People would need a lifetime of therapy to go through all this, so if you expect him to give a detailed army report about everything to Cid, I think you should be a bit more sympathetic. Life, and good storytelling includes a lot of nuances, not just facts, numbers, stats, and I applaude author for making this story very grounded.

Rani

Is it just me or did anyone else find Cid saying that hearing of Brin's past makes him want to kill himself weird but maybe foreshadowing?

Kevin O'Malley

It can not be applied during combat specifically. It was: +20% to all attributes while creating, performing, or inventing. This bonus cannot be applied during combat.

Rani

I found that Brin says [the person that gave birth to me] but later is admit that Aberthol was another person. If that is how he feels shouldn't he say the person who gave birth to Aberthol. Instead?

MrWheelsOfMime

Not sure about your circle of friends, but it is not uncommon in mine to make this type of jokes.

Rani

Oh a joke, okay. Thank you.

Tobias Nick

I understand, that during a time skip the skills should not get up as much as during the told story, but only getting 4 levels of meditation and 5 magic in 4 months?! He's been practicing his magic everytime he could. Having learned two new skills and experimenting with them it should be reflected in the growth. Feels like a forced stagnation without reason at all except for keeping him from climbing up the power ladder too fast.

meh

A lot of his previous growth was having lumina or hogg tutor him, and we've been told that training slows down after a while. Previously he was free to spend most of the day directly or indirectly practicing his skills, but now he's spending most of the day scouting or on horseback.

Tobias Nick

As I said, I understand it's not as much as before. But him getting not a single point in any of his other stats or skills over 4 months... As you said, he is riding every day for many hours, but his new knightly skill did not level up even once over 120 days? It makes the future growth just not believable. I love this story, but these kind of things always get to me. Sorry.

Douglas Lilley

Seriously? Bog world has actual zombies and monsters. Neither of the people Brin killed were actually his parents. Brin’s 26. CID’s a freaking knight who presided over a crucible that ended with two dead members of his Lance, and personally beheaded a stranger. There’s a puppet show in book 3 about a boy who feeds a girl to a monster and then becomes the monster’s pet. Brin’s story is not that bad, considering. As for his conversation with Cid, if Brin didn’t want to get personal, he could have just said ‘I have step-siblings in the city I never met.’ He didn’t. He went on to tell Cid about Abertha being a witch, his dad being a rape victim/slave, and about how it was his dad’s last wish for Brin to tell his step siblings that their dad was dead. And you think finishing the story is too personal?

bananaphone

agree, its very inconsistent with leveling, or levels in general

WachTraum

There is also no way that the Order of the Long sleep would still be a respected organization if your new lances are not progressing quickly just before a major war. It’s hilarious that they get personal magical weaponry by the commander and then get sent to run around empty fields for four months. Other orders would have killed them years before. Like In the story, Galan is special because as a commander he actually doesn’t run around chasing levels. There is no way young squires are fine with 4 months of stagnation. Just no way.

Kevin O'Malley

Having a knight come with him and being in a knight brigade will help a great deal I think, given Prinnashian cultural norms and the respect given warriors in general. Emphasizing that Cawdy’s last thoughts as he died in battle were about his family in Prinnash would be optimal here.

Chien Do

Sympathy is the name of the game here. When helping with someone's personal trauma, you don't put down what YOU expect the victim have to say, Brin can say as much as he wants and I will be fine with it. Again, more sympathy from you, Douglas, please. Their world has fantasy, and can be brutal. But our world has seen plenty fuck-up stuff too: witch-hunt, systematically slavery, city-wide rape, massive prisoner genocide, crazy experiment on human,... but I don't see each human on Earth as callous as you expect us to be, no? Brin has litterally going through those abusive relationship by living Aberthol's life (via dreams), and I think that's enough to break a lot of people. Many people suffer worse, but this is not a suffering contest, all survivor/victim deserve help, not the most affected ones only. Think of this as a sympathy exercise, Douglas. Breath in, then breath out. Now allow Brin and YOURSELF to be a bit more vulnerable, not some hard-core robots. Okay, done? That's all I ask. Have a better day.

Kell Finn

I think the key words for Cid were "last request from my father." Very much an honor thing. And when Brin brings up that he might just be doing it for the system reward, that tells him Brin is just getting in his own head about it too much and they should just go and do it asap.

John Anastacio

If so, then probably a good thing that Cadwy was a zombie at the time.

bananaphone

well they are knights, so bound by the honoursystem. that is consistent within the world

Nouseva Valo

Thous are all good points plus.. since usally knight have recual partols as part of theyry duty them having methods and ways to train while on field seems likely. Plus since there usally commoners with crafting class with in theyry ranks, takeing time on field for them play theyry crafts seems needed... plus it better learn good habit when you're low stake evermoments like this partols. Then be inside hostile lands cut off form main forces. All more so if this lance a specialize units ment to work independent on peace times.

Nouseva Valo

I would like to point out that while Brian's skill set act as outer scouts is now known to he’s party but hes class as illusionist, is till keep hidden form others. On that note, it would make sense if lance takes more camp time to camp on one spot than usually since. MC [invisible eyes] can cover a much lager swatch of land. Thus speeding up both tracking and inspecting off the given patrol area. but since they hide that ability, form outside the observer, including thous of their own order. And from thous there’s bound to be personnel access to their travel records/reports inside knights Order. and since this joint operation under multiple armies. Them having access to read low level patrol reports when asked would understandably. so if they just speed from one town to the next, it would look suspiciously like miss conduct off duty. Since they can’t just say: “our illusions scout the whole area out, alongside our route, so we just rid our horse right thought to next town and hang there extra few days.” and since Cid is such an overachiever, he can use that time both trained his men and seek out if there are any hidden underground passages near goblin tracks. the different country has to wound out of undead army moving under ground. So they getting more enchanted gear made to be dicburted among forces guarding their land seems burden choice. plus if even normal army and bandits have habit using underground pathways to raid towns and villages to point its mandatory to protected area directly under them form tampering via wards, then there already a some form of magical technology to find thous those passages when formed.

Rani

I just had a thought that maybe the system reward might just be an alteration to his name. Brin from his past life and Baines as a connection to his blood ties to this life. Thus effectively giving him a blood family that he doesn't have to kill or is trying to kill him. That is assuming that the reason the system sent him wasn't to purge another witch for the world's sake.

Nouseva Valo

since MC class/power has now been revealed to his Lance/party. Perhaps, he could start using their labor and knowledge to input on he’s class working skill set. Plus, it would both be more success full to pose as (Glass inventor) if your party. Members carry some of he’s work around. Sure without ability to affect to end ability/enchantment of the end pieces of glass products. He’s contributions would be small for normal wear. plus Mayer and Gel could properly to it better, with their builds support skills, but on to other hand his is supposedly only delegated procuration class on whole lance. So doing things to highlight his contributions to battle, say for people to carry simple glass for fighting. Say a pack of caltrops to throw against incoming enemies, or just having simple glass marldes on them for Brian to incite a glass bullet attack in pinch straight, true thin purse fabrics. By using his skill with Wyrd, he could hopefully ease the use of mana. Oh, there’s also the prince Rubert drop. some of the thous in horse saddles with right enchantment holders and stuffing dampeners there, protecting them from breaking, to tiny pieces. Place them to the horse’s rear, their entry directly on back, so the rider can just flip them open as way, releasing immovable missels against their pursuers. Sure he could kind made thous even before he’s illusions class was discovered. and since Govannon have both instreast and of knowledge of system effects, him spotting that Brian does not hold any visible glass on he’s persons and wondering if that is part of illusions his class affects to him. By urging hiding, he’s capabilities of using class creativity alongside their full capabilities. Or why hes have not giving he’s class, or equip related to hes class to be carry by Cowl in his backpack.

Nouseva Valo

Speaking of equipment repairs and management.. since normal lance has only 2-3 knights and support of commoner class with them that are specialised in different things crafting and managing of equipments among thous things. so it would go for reason that lances have budgets set up by they Oders for thous things. sure they low ranking lance doing support roles. still they should have some budget set side for thous things on field. and since Brian is only official production class and a mage variant, it would make sense for lance lean on him, on some way, sure sir Meredydd could aid and help but him in sharing the burden. As usually army unit wants to have at least some independent repair and re-supply capacity on field in case they get cut off form they main forces while being in hostile territory. Sure, both Awen's skill as hunter and Cowel’s skill of carrying and setting up things, and the possibility of two of them having ways mead fabrics would give some capacity for independent moments. That alongside with Meredydds ability mend and repair metal would give them minimum capacity, for a long time independent operation. But it dosen’t give them any unexcept edge for knight Order lance. that where Brian would come in. How exactly? No idea.. but MC is known going bit weird/mad testing pres to find out edges on he’s skill.. could be Lance wide project on their down times? On note off crafting. Since its traditional part of orders having support staff at their lances, it would make sense that between the long history of multiply knightly Orders that have gathered around this hung army there will be some with knowledge of how to use different crafting based materials and styles to their advantage figured out. How procedure or at least get their hand on [field set crafting workshop/stations] to use, since so much of their leverage is based around being able to get accesses and maintain not only equipment they carry on them self, but using them to do their deeds based leveling system and a good materials and reliable repairs to thous equipment act as leverage make it much more likely both happen and keep knights alive, continuously over long periods. Moreover, since Knightly lances have both the ability and history of getting common class to their rosters. It makes sense for them to have created a time tables where thous crafting class, have time to stop and work on their craft. Thus taking more time travelers terrain and having longer and more stops. That added to MC ability cover large ground do use of [invisible eyes], would make them quicker. That in turn would make a mess of broader patrol schedule/routes, after all if they are say 4-5 patrol that are sent to cover a bigger arena -with or without working inside local troops/guards moments patterns- for its not just about checking and covering one arena for hostiles -thought it is also that- but for a troop/lance to be near areas thats, has important target to cover or give assistance to local garrison be it town, village, guard tower, or meaydy they are first response units to support: a iron mine, a farming community, or meydy they need to cheek if local bridge or ferry point over river that is used only time form time is not is not be saboted. or anything other that posiple coordinated hostile forces could be possible interested. not mention they could end up giving help for other lance on patrol, that under attack, or cone missing, or meydy they have pre agreed upon meetings with other patrols on towns or villages. they need get to. Heck could be just a trusted messenger, that they need to give short verbal report. of what has been seen, and if they need some provisions once they come back, the main keep. Now sure with medieval time tables, if its just say 1.day later or sooner? no big deal, things happen on field be it weather or beast attacks or perhaps they break camp sooner and rider longer. 2.day? perhaps they had some bigger tracks follow? or need mead they gear after fight? oh they are head off their schedule 2 dasy? perhaps they need to ride through night to get their people to healer? 2,5.days? late or soon… something has con wrong.. any more than that. then it would be under stable that normal short verbal report won’t cut it .

Gorane

I agree wholeheartedly, 5 is way too low considering he can work on his magic pretty much always with multithreading, plus he has new skill upgrades to discover. 1 magic per 3.2 weeks is super slow for that. I range of 8-12 magic seems much more believable. I think a good benchmark is the end of ch 11 book 4 where Brin gained 5 magic in a week! Sure he had training from Hogg, but also he alone shouldnt be 16 times less effectice. If he was 10 times less affective at growig that stat it would be be 8 not 5

Nouseva Valo

also there’s possibility of their lance going lost form on check point to other. and while it could take, say 3-4 days for search party get arrived on best, there’s still some hope for local equal of [fast response] force is called. since mutch of top tier fighting forces has been enlisted to army ranks, perhaps it’s formed some mid tier fighters lead by past his prime warrior, not old encoung be one or three his wonder, but old enough, that fighting hours on end is beyond them, but 30-40min fight is still possible with near full might. heck perhaps they are retired knight, and/or stable master that high level riding skill let them and others get there faster in first place. Now if Lance gets more downtime, the question becomes what to do with this raised camp time? assuming of course Gid doesn’t have access for bigger patrol planning schedule.. and authority to model it on fly or tell higher ups to model it for him. Without clear reasons to give. Not only would it give out Brian's actual class, he is basically a high rank and powerfully noble’s son and giving away his class away, when both he and high commander of your own order is trying to hide it would be unwise. So they will most likely have full days down time than normal between the points. Well, first question would be what would hundreds years old organisations like Knight Oders have their low rank members’ hones or upkeep their skill while on the march or on patrol? and that is assuming they don’t have at peaces time, more experienced members act as mentor, for lances first 3-4 patrol or just one of thous who are retired from active duty. But still do minor jobs around Order now and then. Someone who can till rider and show, active training tricks and proper strike form. As what would be thous tricks and guidance be aimed? Well, that would depend of what is lance’s purpose as unit and what outcome they seek alongside particular Orders, emphasis of how they want an approach that out comes. Since these are times of war efforts, and there haven’t been time to full teachings, newcomers. However, since Galan the commander of order is such “knightly” person, him having ensured that each new lance has some ways to train their skills, effect and practical use with them when actual need for that rises. They should also have drills that help them gain status points, prepared beforehand chances to do thous feats that in turn allow them to gain levels. to image what thous trainings and drills would be we should first think what is lances purpose. So far, there seems to have been an aim has been for semi self-sufficiently, quickly moving, shock troop that is given choice for independent movements. that should be able to.. presumably act as both shook troop, relief force, and something that can expect to hold reinforced position. And move around both as monster termination forces and scouts. all while acting on environments that has, at least in theory, changes of magical range attacks, surprises form shadows in the middle of day. Not to mention aerial attacks via air by animal and monsters alike. then there’s also the possibility that they could also come at some point come under order/call to acts as main fighting “core” of hastily assembled fighting unit formed from themself levis, local guards, what’s stands as local militant or mercenaries/adventures. all that while later aiming presumably, denial of the sentient enemy’s forces gain ground, being able retreat under fire, move positions quickly and deficient, all while communicating and working with local law enforcements, and possible necogation of supply deals. and do all that while lever use of their class advantages around heavy armor and fighting skills to get edge for doing deads to gain level. that would in theory great mids set for training that try bring out the advantage. and strengthen their ability, by maximizing even the smallest advantages in their ability in practice, things. a bit like top athletes, with the difference that a bad game ends in death.

Since most of lance is now of [Knight] class we should ask what are they skills. Since [Kinghts] are bit like [Warriors] with capilitys to feats physical strength. And seeing even MC was bound to his beginer armor as bacis bonus set of recuimets getting class. And since there have been some talk about how [classes] shape over time to fit theyry fuctions better, there's some ways how possible [Kinghts] class evoluutio to show. As physical [class] it would make sence theyry class abilitys has consent around [vigor/stamina] as way enchant theyry battle browns. and [Bound Armor] ablity. maybe even just [Bound] ablity, as be it pieces armor, wepon, horse or even metaphysical ideas. Then there's fact theyry are usally in high status position boht social and as tanks of battle field so they're have [presence] on world. To make theyry skill take hold better or amplifier or down play theyry treating levels inside that "shell of steel" Speaking of "shell of steel" since on Knights Orders have selection of different styles and differently proctetion armors. Since if [Knights] are battle field equivalent to sprintin tanks. There should be reason why some chosen to wear lighter armors instead full Armors. On possible is having [Knights] clasd [Bound] and [vigor] skill different [resonate] wave going trought different pathway moving trought inner/under layer of armor -layerd clouth like quilted gambeson or paddet fencing/armor jacked- add that, alongside amounts and thickness of armors affects some [Knights] [skills] manifesting and control in long range. Then Add some different ablication and fuctions on [enchanting] to different armors and effects of different crafters skills and it got covered. Hmm. Actually add there [amplifier/sacrifice] skill. With ability to push or pulll power form theyry [Bound] items. fine controling the output with their echoes wave eighter your [amplifier] [Bound] fuctions by pouring it some of you own recourse be vigor/stamina/mana. [sacrifice] some that bound items "presses" and materials/mas to empower your own boby or [vigor]. That way it would make sence boht why "armory off Knight Orders" is so stack with unused armors, theyry reserve armors that's there if [Knight] burn trought he's own set while doing "deeds" or maybe they want have more control and manipulation range for next lance mission/partols. Or they what training trought they [skills] using different armors set. Thus the reason why Knight Orders (normal?) Armory is not warde against spying, is becose theyry see armors as consumption tools off trade. Necessary yes, but ultimately something that fill worn out by use. Hmm.. one off [Knights] skills or skill path could be [armor manipulation] they use their outer armor. After-all is armored fencing one techniques of tanking oppents hits is angel your boby so that is skim off alongside armor. So "skill set" that allowing to [strengthen armor] to better to shudder off hits using theyry [virgo] skill on that point off armor. Or maybe they got [slide/stick armor] skill that let's them have opents wepons eighter slide alongside armor or get momentarily stuck on theyry armor. Meaby they could even to develop some kind of [armors camolages] skill. Or mayde theyry have [resonate discpurting] skill for armor so eny time enemy's wepons touch theyry armor. [Knights] Vigor discpurting theyry oppents skill skill use. Maybe one off reason why some [Knights] use lighter armors is that theyry are able use more individual [Bound] armors pieces -small one like the one MC get form armorer back at the headquarters- to fight by trowing them towards incoming enemy's spell boht interrupt, they flight paht, disturbed spells struture, detonation theme beforehand and offer proctetion form blast or even suppression it effects all together. Plus Since theyry have bigger claim thous pices since they [Bound] them maybe they can affect theyry actions/moments longer after it is out off theyry physical conettion. Then there's "path of hitting harder" to directly to using [warrior] class modified [chosen wepons/one with wepons] skill as [Bound wepon] as skill that let's your knightly skill application count the [Bound wepon(s)] simultaneously as "wepon" and part of your "own boby." Allowing [Knights] leverage theyry skill set in form of empower hits trought [vigor] on boht in boby as wepons monument, using [amplifier] for wepons own skill. All while using [Bound wepons] effects being part of your body as way of channelling discpurting [vigor] opents skill passive skill use. And makeing it hardened to activated new ones. And since this Bound wepons have habit lasting longer then theyry users, all while gathering more [presence] and they're "functions" as wepons reforced by use of [vigor] and theyry enchant fine tuned by [amplifier] skill they become ideal wepons to repair and reforcge to pass inside Knights Orders for new members. Hm come to think of it... Mayde Knight Orders do have Wards section of armors... for thous legacy armors form Knights that used only one or two sets of armors Theyry whole careers using [reconate] skill to [amplifier] theyry effects and [presence] over long periods of time. Makeing them [more] and they're are look after after by specialise set of [Armorers] to Oders Elites to equipment them ass act last resort. A final trumph card of sorts. Hmm.. then as way being good fighters and possible commander at battle field. There's need for awernnes skill, [awernnes trought armor] like felll air and specse around trought your armor as second skin. Though that's could be on armors manipulation side. Then skill for seeing clear and project theyry voice around the battle field to be heard. Though thous could go on [Vigor] and [amplifier] use... Though there's is the also fact that [Knights] can use [Knights charge] to animals/horses and can at later levels also includes units of fighting men to that charge. Thus there's could also be skill/path of emanation. A Skill set that let's them bring theyry skill effects outside theyry armors shell and ablication it outside. Bonus range if creatures or person count you as one off them. Be it horse, bogs, birds or human. And lastly there's the [Knights Oders specific] singature skills. Let's say it's form by using 1. system [base skill *] 2.training or using a item creative way, repeating. 3.adding [Knights.] Class [Bound skill] to item or set of items. 4. Use [resonate] skill "echoes wave" between you and said items to create specific sequence to get Knights Oders specialise skill. Since there's multiple ways going on settings up the skill Oders of Knight are board ok For ohter orders having whit some knowledge how they obtain theyry sigature skills as long as it's not fully how do guilds. Plus it's should in some form be link in [Bound "wepon"] letting Knights have only one (or two skill) usable [specialise skill] of that nature.
