Usopp's name is a play on Aesop of Aesop's Fables, two of which fables are The Boy Who Cried Wolf, and Pinocchio, hence Usopp's long nose and penchant for lying and telling fables. Along with great original lore, Oda inlays a lot of meta in his writing of OP.
