While I was working on updates I was wondering (because my mind is always wandering lol), do you all prefer a recipe using a specific ingredient (Bread Flour) or a type of ingredient (Any Flour)? I'm trying to determine which direction I want to go with a future project. Feel free to explain or leave suggestions in the comments below!

Personally I feel like it kinda depends, like too many specific ingredients can get overwhelming especially if you play with the simple living lot challenge, but some specific ingredients does make those ingredients feel more useful? So I'd say a mix. Maybe like 1 or 2 specific ingredients and the rest type ingredients. Like if you're baking idk a blueberry muffin, then blueberry oughta be a specific ingredient, but maybe you could use any type of flour and sugar.

I really prefer type ingredients because I have many different custom harvestables in my games from loads of different creators. Recipes that require specific ingredients for things like eggs, milk, sugar or flour really suck. But if it's like something requiring a specific color of bell pepper for the recipe to make sense then go for the specific but for the common ingredients please, please keep it generic!!!

Im with Jaingrider. I prefer type because I use a lot of your harvestable, Icemunmun and SCCO. There is some cross over with flour and sugar etc. For actual harvestables like orange or corn, I’m okay with those being specific.

BrazenLotus

Yes, I see what you mean about it being overwhelming with simple living.

So this is where the dilemma is...if you want my recipes to use a type of ingredient (Any Flour) which includes other creator's ingredients then you would have to download SCCO. For those of you who don't use or want to download that mod, it will just be missing that ingredient entirely. Now I could make 2 versions but honestly that's extra work I'm not sure I want to do lol.

Emilis Borealis

oh yeah didn't think about that D': I recently removed scco because it was just wayy too much with simple living so in that case I guess I'd prefer specific ingredients... agh kinda wish there was an scco lite version with just like its new ingredient categories/types for compatability with packs and different creators ;n;

I won't play my game without SCCO. Honestly, that mod saved Sims for me.

I adore SCCO so I can't play my game without it, though specificity in ingredients can add a nice challenge with simple living. Sure, some recipes will accept any meat, any dairy, any flour, but recipes that get more niche and demand something like cake flour, or rice flour? Love those.

I don’t mine either but if I was doing it I would follow some degree of common sense and cooking practices based on the dish if possible.

Like a salad being any 5 vegetables but one needs to be lettuce makes total sense to me. Or chicken and rice not needing a specific rice ect.

Courtney Bocci

Don't the MTS custom food and drink mods do the same thing as SCCO? I have the MTS ones, but not SCCO.

I cannot play my game without SCCO, and it would be a big plus if a considerable number of ingredients were shaped around SCCO's. However, I cannot deny that the main reason why I am a patron of yours is because of your attention to detail. I love that you have your cake flour, bread flour, and so on - and that they give a certain number of measurements as the wrapper folds and becomes empty. I would have to say that a mix of both would be preferable.

BrazenLotus

I honestly have no idea lol. That's why I like to ask and see what you all are using and how best I can work around it :D
