I have a few ideas for some small future projects and I'd like to hear your input on them! The first one is...

Food Coloring

I want to create some food coloring to be used as ingredients for recipes. There are 2 ways I was thinking I can do this:

Option 1: LIQUID

Boil down fruit and veggie juice (from the press) to get a bottle of liquid color that can be used as an ingredient.

Option 2: POWDER

Dry fruit and veggies (preserving skill) then grind them into a powder that can be used as an ingredient.

Feel free to comment below with any additional ideas!

… fruit juice from the juicer? Can that be its own thing too? Like, not just the fizzy juices but maybe veggie juices and stuff? Sorry, I got excited by that idea lol But I love the implications of food dyes! Can’t wait to see what you’re working on.

Yes, I made a few juices for the press already and I plan on adding more, this would just be another way to use them outside of drinking them or using them for drink recipes.

What about being able to choose in game? However, if there's only one choice to be made ;) I'd like 'Dry' to build up skill and perhaps there'd be less likely for it to spoil?

My mind started wandering to an area with the liquid dyes being used to colour white wool. Maybe with a 'weaving skill' where you use a loom to make creations. I'm sorry I'm getting ahead of things, love the new food colouring idea!

Hi, so excited by this!! I was actually planning on suggesting this to you in the next few days, hoping you would agree, but work got in the way. So, I think the liquid dyes make more sense, but I do hope they will not be treated as food, even though they will come from fruit and veggies, so they don't have a spoiling rate to worry about. Also, I would love if they can be used for food coloring, but also for wool and possibly for actual painting? If possible, would also be nice to use it on your Twine from the Grass crafting mod. In the meantime, from what I know, JaneSimsten is releasing a Spinning Wheel mod for spinning wool into yarn or thread in March that I think will come with a weaving skill and PiedPiper already has a Functional Loom mod for weaving wool and other fabrics (cotton, silk) that includes a looming skill. I think both will pair so well with your upcoming mod. Again, very exciting news, thank you!

It would be super cool to make food dyes and actual dyes from eko living aswell. Like for both food and candlemaking. The more things my sims can make for them selves the better 🤩

Yes, it would also be nice to be able to use insects and minerals alongside plants for creating the dyes, at the moment they don't get used so much in game, plus we will have some additions to minerals with the upcoming Crystal Pack. In the meantime this is a very comprehensive list of such plants, insects and minerals I found while researching the subject, maybe you will find it useful as well: https://allnaturaldyeing.com/natural-dye-colors/

I love the idea of drying fruits and veggies.... love love the preserving skill! Looks like the other one is winning on the poll lol. I do hope you will gradually add fruits and more veggies!!!!
