Fun fact: Sarah Michelle Gellar was originally cast as Cordelia. But, she has a Brown Belt in martial arts and when they were having trouble finding an actress for Buffy... they had her read for that role and then re-cast Cordelia with Charisma Carpenter. Joss Whedon originally created Buffy because he loves horror movies but felt sorry for that girl that runs up the stairs and you just know she is going to die. He said that one day he just asked, "what if that girl was prepared and kicked the monster's ass instead" and the idea of Buffy was born. SMG was actually in the horror movie "I Know What You Did Last Summer" in 1997 (same year Buffy premiered). She met her eventual husband on that movie set, Freddie Prince Jr.
