This has always been one of my favorite Emily episodes. She tries to care in her own way... but it just is never right. I see so much of my own mother in her. It makes me wonder if Emily and Lorelei's relationship could have been different in some alternate universe where Emily is less proper and Lorelei is less rebellious. They both want that relationship, but it's ultimately sabotaged at every turn by one or the other (or sometimes both).
