I think two teachers already being married or a teacher being a mom is FAR LESS scandalous than the parent of an active student dating a teacher because the latter brings in all kinds of ideas of nepotism and/or favoritism from both other students AND other parents. If it was after Rory graduated, it would be an entirely different thing.
