this was always an episode I felt for Emily AND Lorelai. When I first watched this show I was a teenager watching with my mom. And now I'm a mom of teenager. It pulls at alllllll the heart strings.

I know I'm supposed to feel bad for Emily in this episode, but to me this is one where she fully showed her true colors from Lorelei's perspective. She should have been proud of what her daughter created for her granddaughter rather than shaming her for it and being horrified by it and ultimately trying to prove that she can outdo it.
