I'm just now getting around to watching all of these reactions so super late comment. But i disagree with your statement of "maintaining the family for the sake of the child no matter how hard" Children are more perceptive than we believe them to be. If a child sees that their parents are clearly unhappy, it will have a negative effect on them. As a child of divorced parents who tried to hold things together for me, but were clearly unhappy together, that had a more negative impact on my mental health than seeing them go through divorce and emerge as not only better people but ultimately better parents as well.

I'm happy for Rossi and the kids in this episode because Rossi never gave up on this case, they were able to find the killer and the dad who helped him and with that, gave everyone involved the closure that they needed to go forward and kept a good relationship between Rossi and the kids too. It's good when a case like this has a wholesome ending like that one. This is why Aaron Hotchner and Dr. Spencer Reid are my boys! Even if Hotch antagonized the situation, he was ready to fight to protect himself and Reid against Hardwick. Then Reid comes in spouting all the scientific knowledge that he knows to distract Hardwick enough for the Prison guards to come and get them out. That was teamwork in my book. I feel tremendously sad when Aaron says what i what, I'm not gonna get but in this context, I think he doesn't mean his family as he knows that his marriage to Haley has already been damaged and fallen apart so what he means is still getting to do this job in the BAU as it's unit chief and member of the team but also getting to see his son and be apart of his life as he grows up. His son is still very important to him, he's made the effort to still be in Jack's life even if his relationship with Haley is rocky and beyond repair.

I think the only reason I don't really blame Hailey is because he was a 'just a lawyer' when they married, etc. So likely this lifestyle was not what 'she signed up for' but I'm also for maintaining the family for the sake of the child no matter no hard.. unless there's domestic violence or some other situations where it really makes sense
